I was visiting town for the first time this weekend with my better half, and we were looking for somewhere warm and cozy to celebrate our anniversary. After coming across *Nixtamal* online and reading the reviews, our shared love for Mexican food made it an easy choice—and it absolutely delivered. From the moment we walked in, despite the place being packed, we were greeted with a genuine smile and a heartfelt welcome from the staff. We had arrived about 15 minutes early for our reservation (completely on us!), so we waited briefly until our table was ready. Right on time, we were seated at a clean table with menus in hand—perfectly organized and professional. The ambiance was exactly what we were hoping for: cozy, quaint, and inviting. The tables are fairly close together, but thanks to thoughtful acoustic treatment on the ceiling, you don’t hear surrounding conversations. A small detail, but one that made a big difference—clearly well thought out and well executed. Service throughout the evening was impeccable. Courteous, friendly, attentive without being overbearing—we never once felt rushed, even as the restaurant filled up again later in the evening. And then, the food… honestly, five stars don’t feel like enough. It’s rare that I leave a restaurant feeling both completely satisfied *and* like I got great value for what I paid, but this was definitely one of those times. Every dish was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented. The flavors were bold and perfectly balanced—spicy where it needed to be, but never overwhelming. And when something had more heat, we were given a heads-up, which I really appreciated. For transparency, we ordered the Nachos El Gringo (hands down the best nachos I’ve ever had), the kibis—served with a bit of history behind them, which was a nice touch—and for mains, the cochinita and birria tacos. Each taco was a soft-shell delight, packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. All in all, an outstanding experience from start to finish. We’ll absolutely be back the next time we’re in town.

Amazing! An absolute gem. We had an outstanding meal and were treated like family. Wonderful atmosphere with kind, attentive service and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious. I wish we lived closer and could attend often!! Thank you!

Incredible!!! Delivered on the high reviews. We had the guac, pastor tacos and salad. Everything was delicious (churros are a must!!). The salad was shockingly tasty. Beautiful and authentic dishware too!

5 star food quality and taste for great prices. Was so good we came here every night of our trip. Owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. Would drive 7 hours through a snowstorm just to come back again.

In a small little village far away from the hustle and the bustle of the big city, you find this amazing little Mexican restaurant with high-quality ingredients and great service for superb food and ambiance.
