I’ve been dining at Le Nil Blue for nearly nine years, and it remains one of those rare places that never disappoints. The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming, with a high-class feel that still manages to be comfortable and relaxed. The staff are always kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which makes every visit enjoyable. One thing that always stands out is the cleanliness of the restaurant — everything is well kept and organized, which adds to the overall quality of the experience. The food is excellent, full of flavor and depth. Their dishes have a real punch to them, with a special blend of spices that brings out incredible taste, especially in their vegetarian options, which are seasoned beautifully. What impresses me even more is their consistency. Despite the high quality of food and service, they have kept their prices reasonable and, as far as I can remember, they haven’t changed them in the nine years I’ve been coming here. That kind of honesty and dedication to customers is rare today. Blue is truly a gem — great atmosphere, delicious food, friendly staff, and remarkable value. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

The atmosphere was beautiful. We stopped by to dine in on Sunday evening. After reviewing the menu and seeing the portion sizes, we decided to leave. However, the space was incredibly beautiful, and we would have loved to dine at this establishment. We were simply looking for something more casual with larger portion sizes. I will definitely be returning to try out the menu. I loved the ambience, the music, the decor, and the service was prompt and courteous.

Growing up in Ethiopia, I know what authentic Ethiopian food should taste like. My meal at Nil Bleu on St-Denis in Montreal truly brought back those memories. The food was absolutely finger-licking good, the injera was perfect, and the flavors were spot on. Even my Canadian grandchildren loved the experience of eating Ethiopian style. A wonderful and authentic dining experience. Highly recommended.

This was our third visit to Le Nil Bleu, and just like our other meals there, it was absolutely first-rate. We loved it the first 2 times, but it keeps getting EVEN better. We are vegetarians, and had the shared 5-item vegan appetizers and dinner, then dessert. I also had a glass of honeyed wine. The service and atmosphere was delightful. If only we lived in Montreal, we would go there often, but as it is, this gem of a restaurant is a destination all on its own. After this meal, we now hold Le Nil Bleu above our favorite Ethiopian restaurants in Brooklyn and San Francisco. Can’t wait to go back for more!

Interesting experience! You receive small portions of food on a big crepe that you use to grab the vegetables and meat. The menu is filled with diverse tasty Ethiopian dishes. (the prices are pretty high though) The waiters were very kind and the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Would absolutely recommend the Doro Watt, chicken with berbéré sauce.2nd time going; The portions are even more small… The food just didn’t hit like the first time either.

My adult daughter and Inare visiting Montreal for the first time. She lives in Brooklyn and has easy access to all the cuisines of the world. Ethiopian food is one of her regular go-tos. As a vegetarian, it is perfect because it is filling, super nutritious and beautifully spiced. Even as a regular Ethiopian food-eater, she was blown away by everything about Nil Bleu! It was just down the main strip of Rue St Denis in the Plateau neighborhood where we are staying in Montreal. The staff was so kind and patient with us non-Francophones. When a couple left the primo window table before our food arrived, our server asked if we would like to move over there. We got the Mango mule cocktail and we both so surprised by the delightful flavor and freshness of the drink! The first course included so many interesting tastes and textures that we couldn't pick our favorite. The main course was equally varied and all so filling and delicious. We had a gorgeous vegan dinner-- it was perfect comfort food after a day of hiking Mount Royal in the snow, AND it was perfectly healthy! I bet we had more vegetables in this meal than we had eaten in the week before! Every bite was more delicious than the last! The restaurant was gorgeous and the music was ethereal and soothing. What a special evening with kind folks, exquisite food, and beautiful ambiance. Thank you, Nil Bleu!

Plenty light, the kitchen was very beautiful and rooms spacious and modern. My wife is in love with your bed and pillows. The open shower was hard to figure out but overall we both enjoyed . My wife did love the old jacuzzi better but change was bound to be since it's been 20 since we last stayed. There is no real patio and no separation with other rooms so sitting outside is a little awkward. Maybe a fan since the windows can't be open and it gets hot really quick in the Jacuzzi area with the heated floors. My wife loved those heated floors...please tell me what kind of mattress you use.my wife really wants to known. 4 star ✨ and we want to come back For sure . Special thanks for The front desk staff day and evening 🌆

first ethiopian since moving to montreal, was really excited to see how it’s done here as i was under the impression east african food here is amazing compared to the west coast (where i’m from originally). ethiopian is my favourite kind of ethnic food and i consider myself really experienced with it. unfortunately, this spot didn’t meet the hype. definitely the most expensive (32$ with tip) ive spent for a mixed veggie platter, for significantly small portions compared to other places ive been. flavours are dull and non distinct from each other. the injera is plastic-y and missing that plush texture and tart flavour. won’t be returning. looking forward to trying other, more authentic spots in the city!
