My adult daughter and Inare visiting Montreal for the first time. She lives in Brooklyn and has easy access to all the cuisines of the world. Ethiopian food is one of her regular go-tos. As a vegetarian, it is perfect because it is filling, super nutritious and beautifully spiced. Even as a regular Ethiopian food-eater, she was blown away by everything about Nil Bleu! It was just down the main strip of Rue St Denis in the Plateau neighborhood where we are staying in Montreal. The staff was so kind and patient with us non-Francophones. When a couple left the primo window table before our food arrived, our server asked if we would like to move over there. We got the Mango mule cocktail and we both so surprised by the delightful flavor and freshness of the drink! The first course included so many interesting tastes and textures that we couldn't pick our favorite. The main course was equally varied and all so filling and delicious. We had a gorgeous vegan dinner-- it was perfect comfort food after a day of hiking Mount Royal in the snow, AND it was perfectly healthy! I bet we had more vegetables in this meal than we had eaten in the week before! Every bite was more delicious than the last! The restaurant was gorgeous and the music was ethereal and soothing. What a special evening with kind folks, exquisite food, and beautiful ambiance. Thank you, Nil Bleu!

Plenty light, the kitchen was very beautiful and rooms spacious and modern. My wife is in love with your bed and pillows. The open shower was hard to figure out but overall we both enjoyed . My wife did love the old jacuzzi better but change was bound to be since it's been 20 since we last stayed. There is no real patio and no separation with other rooms so sitting outside is a little awkward. Maybe a fan since the windows can't be open and it gets hot really quick in the Jacuzzi area with the heated floors. My wife loved those heated floors...please tell me what kind of mattress you use.my wife really wants to known. 4 star ✨ and we want to come back For sure . Special thanks for The front desk staff day and evening 🌆

first ethiopian since moving to montreal, was really excited to see how it’s done here as i was under the impression east african food here is amazing compared to the west coast (where i’m from originally). ethiopian is my favourite kind of ethnic food and i consider myself really experienced with it. unfortunately, this spot didn’t meet the hype. definitely the most expensive (32$ with tip) ive spent for a mixed veggie platter, for significantly small portions compared to other places ive been. flavours are dull and non distinct from each other. the injera is plastic-y and missing that plush texture and tart flavour. won’t be returning. looking forward to trying other, more authentic spots in the city!

We just had a fantastic meal here! It was not too crowded but by the time we left it was bustling. Really good, fresh, flavorful. Wonderful attention from our server too. I highly recommend!

As always, the service was warm and attentive. And the food was particularly delicious. I am fairly familiar with Ethiopian food (I even know how to make a few dishes) and this is, hand’s down, the best I have ever had. Kudos also for the decor and atmosphere.

I don’t usually leave reviews for places but I got this as takeout and it was still delicious! Maybe even beyond delicious because I need the chickpea puree as a regular part of my life every day 😩 it’s January 1st and I think I can say this food was the best I’ll have all year. Just perfect flavour and texture
