Had an absolutely wonderful dining experience here! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. The food was exceptional - fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor. The portions were generous and well worth the price. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, and despite being busy, we didn't feel rushed. The dessert was the perfect ending to our meal. We'll definitely be returning soon and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and excellent service. Five stars!

They lost my jacket in the middle of winter unacceptable. You pay 300$ for diner then you learn they lost your 300$ jacket in February. Thats not what I expect from a wannabe high end restaurant.

Service was fantastic. Some of the best I’ve ever experienced. All servers are very attentive at Monarque.Food was tasty. I got the trout tartare, octopus, and lamb dish. My favourite was the trout tartare. It’s divine — very fresh and full of unique textures and flavours. The other two dishes were good but too salty for my personal preference. Everything served was made of high quality ingredients, beautifully presented, and made with intentionality. In terms of ambiance, Monarque is well decorated and sophisticated but lacks cozyness. I felt that the temperature of the restaurant could have been slightly warmer and lights dimmer. The lighting especially in the Brasserie is far too bright. I was noticed it as soon as I walked in.

We had an amazing night dinning here. There was a great selection of creative dishes but they also have classic ones which tasted fantastic as well. I especially liked the aged steak, it had great texture and great flavours. The balance between fat and meat was great, the mix of chewiness and softness was great as well and the pepper sauce that came with the steak complemented it quite nicely. The duck was pretty delicious too! The crispy skin paired so well with the tender meat and the flavours were nice as well. The service on the other hand varies quite a lot. We had a warm welcome initially from the waitresses and then some waiters were quite clumsy and rough which made it a bit less enjoyable. The contrast was too big not too notice. The atmosphere itself was great. There were so many customers that were enjoying the food, the vibe was just great. I do feel like the tables are a bit small making it feel a bit cramped but it was still quite nice.

Last night on Valentine’s day was my first experience in Monarque restaurant. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. Our waitress was so nice and helpful. We asked for a Medium cook for our steak; however, it was not cooked well (to my taste at least). I found the crust of our steak especially on the sides to be burnt. I’ve had better quality of steak with more reasonable prices in many other restaurants. I mentioned this to the manager and she had a nice behaviour towards my comment which I truly appreciated. Overall, I found the restaurant to be a nice spot with nice staff, but it wasn’t worth the price at least to me ($520 for two!!).

We visited for the Valentine’s Day fixed-price menu and unfortunately had one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. Maybe if you go there for normal dinner it would be good, but this is the first time I had such a bad experience to the point of leaving the restaurant feeling unwell. To start with the positives: the meats and fish were actually cooked very well. The veal was perfectly tender, and the fish was flaky without being overcooked. The servers were also attentive — our water was always refilled promptly, and the staff were polite. The drinks were excellent as well! I would genuinely consider coming back just for cocktails. That said, the overall four-course experience fell short for us. Nearly every dish was overwhelmed by sauce that was either aggressively sour or overwhelmingly salty, to the point that it completely overpowered the well-cooked proteins. The flavors were so intense and unbalanced that we felt physically nauseous by the end and rushed out of the restaurant to get back to our hotel. Also, the table next to us ordered the bass, and I love fish, but it smelt so unpleasantly fishy that I was turned off. There was also a grapefruit and orange “house soup” served before the main dish, intended to refresh the palate. It was odd to us because there was also what tasted like a lemon sherbet in the soup. The bitterness and acidity felt harsh and actually triggered acid reflux for both of us. Plus, the transition from a warm appetizer to a very cold soup and then back to a warm main course was very off-putting. On top of everything, portion sizes were surprisingly small. I understand that tasting menus are structured differently, and I’ve enjoyed similar experiences at other restaurants without issue. This was the first time I’ve left a multi-course meal hungrier than when I arrived. One additional disappointment was the seating. Even though the restaurant was about half empty when we arrived, we were seated right next to the only other occupied table. We asked to move as soon as we sat down, but were told that no other tables were available. About 10 minutes later, a couple was seated next to us and made the same request and were accommodated. There may have been a reason for this, but from our perspective, it left a poor impression. Perhaps the regular menu is better however, for a special Valentine’s dinner, I would say don't waste your time and money.

The food and service were excellent. I recommend the wild mushroom gnocci and the braised veal cheeks, the flavours and the meat tenderness are unreal. If you can, ask for a table facing the kitchen in the brasserie, those are the best spots. Finally, we very much appreciated that the payment terminal didn't have preset tipping amounts. We will definitely come back soon.

A beautiful brasserie with a refined, classic atmosphere. The space is elegant and very Montréal. Polished and quietly upscale. I ordered a mocktail as I wasn’t feeling well; service was discreet and reserved, very much in a European style. We shared the octopus, which was tender and well prepared. The steak frites were good and properly executed, satisfying, though not extraordinary. Overall, a pleasant experience in a lovely setting. Worth visiting for the ambiance and solid brasserie fare.

Monarque is truly an outstanding dining experience. The food is delicious, refined, and beautifully presented, and the ambiance strikes a perfect balance between elegance and comfort. Every detail in the setting makes the evening feel special without being pretentious. The staff is attentive, warm, and professional from start to finish. The team makes you feel genuinely welcome and well taken care of. A final detail that deserves praise is the way the bill is handled. When the server brought the payment machine, the tip options were presented in a respectful and flexible way, with clear suggested amounts and percentages, without the usual sense of pressure that often comes with the typical North American tipping prompts. It felt considerate and customer friendly. An excellent restaurant on every level, and definitely worth visiting again.

Great Saturday night dinner at Monarque. Beautiful restaurant, bustling with people and great energy. We ate in the Brasserie. The food, wine, service, and overall vibe were all excellent. For starters, our table of four shared the octopus and trout tartare with such fresh bread.and butter that was so good we had two servings. The mains were delicious tuna and the lamb special served with vegetables and potatoes that melted in your mouth. Dessert was an excellent tartine, the combination of apples and ice cream was perfect and so yum. We also enjoyed a really nice bottle of red wine. Just an all-around great night.

Truly delicious food. I ate at the bar in the brasserie side and received impeccable service from the whole team, all of whom were great company. As a solo traveler, it’s nice to be made to feel like a guest and not just a customer. Charles and Andrea both made thoughtful and successful wine recommendations for each of my courses. The boudin bastien was the star of my meal, but everything was delicious. Even the complimentary bread was divine. This was the best meal I had in Montreal, and a great value for the level of quality. It’s a more classic approach than some of the trendier restaurants, but that’s not a bad thing at all.

I can not speak more highly of Monarque! We came here on the 3rd of day 8 of our trip from Vancouver to Montreal. Our server was Laura. We ordered the: Appy: fois gras parfait Main: braised veal cheeks, steak frites (hangar) Sweets: apple tartatin. Fois gras parfait: this was absolutely divine. We've had this at numerous places in Vancouver and NYC. This was hands down the absolute best. Flavour was superb. Temperature was on point. Bread was toasted while not being crunchy. Pickled veg did not overpower. It was perfection. Braised veal cheeks - perfectly braised, not grainy/dry cardboard that sometimes happens or overly braised melting into a mess in your mouth with no texture. Perfect mouthfeel. Celeriac gave a nice contrast to the richness of the meat compared to mashed potatoes. Sauce was amazingly decadent. Steak frites: hangar steak was juicy, tender, and very beefy. Fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned! I cant say for certain but it tastes like they were brined before frying? Either way, the outside was not covered in salt but the entire fry was flavourful. Mayo - delicious. Got to 1/3 of the steak and realized it was a bit under temp. Laura agreed before I could finish my sentence. (More on Laura below). Laura came back after with the steak that was replated with new fries and mayo and an added bernaise sauce. Tart: simple and delicious. While the bottom of the tart isnt crispy, I didnt find it detracted from the overall as the sides were crispy. Laura: she is an amazing server. She didnt hover, but was always aware. She kept an eye on our drinks level out of her periphery, she immediately glanced at my steak after my first slice with the knife, she choreographed the next items masterfully. She managed the section like a true pro with customers feeling like she was always within reach, while not feeling hovered over. She struck that beautiful balance with ease. In all of our dining experiences, this was the best - and Laura played no small part in that!

I love eating at the bar here and the crowd is so beautiful that it rivals the exquisite French food. It is worthy of the Michelin attention it received.

This is the highlight of our trip, for dinner for sure. We were on a seven night road trip and had reservations for dinner in a different spot each night, this is our stand out favorite! It was a holiday trip, so reservations were a must, but how amazing Monarque is, I would advise to always reserve a seat so you don't miss out. It was my wife and I and our two young boy, and all of us agree that we would be regulars anytime we are in Montréal. We sat in the Brasserie as no tables were available in the Salle à Manger was not available at the time we wanted to dine, but that was not a disappointment, it was a tease! This environment is so comfortable and it instantly makes you feel like you are in an experience, not just sitting for a meal. And it an excellent experience at that. Our service was wanting for nothing, the staff seemed to all be part of a Swiss watch operating towards our pleasure, comfort and culinary pleasure. Everyone was so knowledgeable and thoughtful about the food, drinks, their story and it all works so well. We ate and drank as much as we could and still wanted more. I can not wait to return, sit in the Salle Á Manger, I'll sit in every seat in the place if give the opportunity. Thank you so very much, for the work you do, the joy and comfort that you provide to all who pass into you amazing establishment. Please, go to Monarque if you have the chance.

Beautiful restaurant with good food, but unfortunately not ideal for birthdays celebrations. The restaurant has a no-cake policy, which is completely understandable. However, staff were informed in advance that a cake was being brought as a surprise. Instead of addressing this privately when the cake was brought in, the policy was announced to me and the entire table during service. I was then told we could not eat the cake and could only take pictures with it, which was unfortunate that I found about such a kind surprise with such a lack of discretion from the restaurants manager. Additionally, the manager who assisted our table (was assigned at the end of our service) had a strong cigarette smell, which was surprising given this is a Michelin Guide restaurant. There was also confusion around billing, we were told everything was settled and handed the card back, only to then be chased outside and told payment was never run by the staff despite that being explicitly requested and confirmed via our waitress, which was uncomfortable and again just completely unprofessional. It appears the manager had no sense of the communication that happened with our wait staff prior to her taking over our service. The space is lovely and the food was good, but the service and discretion did not meet expectations.

Good service, you can tell the staff really cares about your experience. Went for the NYE 4-course. Interesting meal pairings that tasted good but could use some more diversity.
