If you get the chance to book a table here, do it! We ate in the brasserie and had a wonderful evening of delicious food and scrumptious cocktails. The bone marrow and snails starter was particularly delicious, along with the lamb rump main. The bouillabaise was superb- I could have happily eaten a loaf of bread with the rouille, it was so tasty! We rounded the night off by sharing a maple and pecan éclair. The service was great, and food was exceptionally prompt given it was a Friday night! Our only feedback to improve on an already great experience would be to serve your table bread warm with slightly softer butter.

Really great dining experience in Montreal
Had a wonderful experience our first night dining at in Montreal at the Monarque. Our waiter was fabulous he was very welcoming and kind, explaining the menu and drinks in English to us. We had the halibut special and chicken. Both were cooked to perfection and normally we do not ever clean our plates, but tonight we did. We also had dessert, which again was delicious. Their drinks were also excellent, the Monarque and the Caravane, the Monarque was more savory. We were tempted to order the bone marrow but the couple next to us were devouring theirs and it was a large portion and we didnt think we would be able to eat everything. So we will try that in our next visit. We dined early around 5 with no wait, but by 6pm if was almost full. I would highly recommend dining here.
An absolute amazing experience. My husband and I sat at the bar, enjoyed a couple starters and some cocktails. The white asparagus starter really stole the show. So delicious. The bone marrow and escargots, was exquisite and very rich (in a good way) The octopus was cooked to perfection and paired so well with the ginger carrot puree. The Pistache cocktail was the number one best cocktail I’ve ever had in my life (12 years of working in restaurants ) Beautifully balanced., such a complex cocktail created with pure harmony. I will dream of this cocktail. We then continued our culinary journey with the pan seared tuna and braised lamb. We left our plates clean. Everything was delicious. We ended our night with the pavlova and crème brûlée dessert. My husband, not really a fan of desserts in general, practically licked his plate clean. The highlight of our night, was Serge the Barman. What an amazing, kind and gentle man. Truly gives the definition of “gentleman” Extremely attentive and knowledgeable about his menu and wines. We will certainly come back for the food, and definitely stay for Serge. 10000/10. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you.
Very good quality food, I ordered the pièce de boucher, it was very good. The fries were exceptionally good and the mayonnaise too!
Came here on a Monday night and it was still pretty crowded! But there was plenty of space in the back which was nice so it didn’t feel as claustrophobic. The food was absolutely amazing!! My table shared the steak tartare but I personally got the Foie gras, ocean trout tartare, and oysters. My group also got the maple eclair and passion fruit pavlova for dessert. The presentation of each dish was beautiful. Our server Terry was attentive and gave us great recommendations. I also loved the atmosphere of the place, it’s sleek and modern. Can’t wait to come back!
Absolutely stellar and unforgettable dinners / lunches in "la salle a manger" of Monarque. Carefully thought and masterly executed, each dish brought its magic. The tuna tartare with the foie gras custard and bison tartare were phenomenal. The ris de veaux was equally fantastic. The pintage + agnolotti and bison steak with bourbon sauce were great as well. But clearly the star of the night was the shiso apple with gin and celery dessert...Super balanced, original in texture and flavors, it was probably the best dessert I have ever tasted in my life! Added to the palate experience is the impeccable service by Gustav and Stephanie from the beginning to the end. What a blast! I have now been to Monarque 10+ times and it never disappoints. Consistency and excellence in the kitchen and on the floor are trademarks of this always packed restaurant.
Amazing food and great atmosphere.
Excellent restaurant, suitable for any occasion. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable and the overall setting is great. I definitely recommend and will come back.
Their service is definitely the worst during my trip. The waiter ignored me 3 times and decided to service other tables. Not sure if it’s because we are Asian not white. Drinks are wrong, never added water. I will never come again.
Great food and nice wine selection. Had a great desert as well. Great location next to entertainment and very close to the hotel.
Amazing night. The food was great, the service was impeccable, the atmosphere was also very good. The Desserts were good but not amazing but the rest was very good. It was better than some of the bistrots that I went to in Paris more recently... one of the best meals I have had in a while. The Cuisse de Canard was as good as I would get in Paris... also had a pretty well served wine list and the waiter really knew his menu - was a professional through and through.
Fabulous food. Great vibe. Good for business lunch or special supper. A worthy splurge in Montreal!
I came a few days ago with my family. I had posted before but lost access to that account, so I’m sharing it again here. It’s not my first visit, and it definitely won’t be my last. The service is warm and attentive, and the food is consistently on point. Every time feels like a great experience.
Best meal I’ve had all year! Everything we got was beyond outstanding. I wish I lived in Montreal just so I can come here all the time.
My appetite opened the minute I walked into the dining room! Love the open kitchen concept and the open cellar and curing meats on display as well. The Calanges mocktail was a beautiful discovery and the wine list! Enough said. Service was on point. Every dish was succulent! The grilled foie gras was a perfect balance of crispy and tender, acid and fatty. Absolutely beautiful presentation and flavors. The crab tart was a bit too light on flavor and was served a bit too cold to allow the delicate seasonings to shine. The P.E.I. steak dish was a feast for the senses. The salad dressing was a superb fit for the greens and the endives and the gratin dauphinois was the icing on the cake. The evening was an absolute delight! Will definitely return.
Great ambience and attentive service. Food was well presented and tasted delicious.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. The Pistache was one of my favorite cocktails I’ve had. Highly recommend.
MARCH2026: my go to when in Montreal if you are looking for innovative french cuisine at a michelin level. Their champagne options are great and I loved the trout tartare, squid ink ravioli and the grilled octopus. 2022 review: Never disappoints from the ambiance, service and food. Loved the foie gras and crab apps.
Classic brasserie dishes but executed to perfection. We got the hangar steak, the confit duck, and the veal cheeks. The steak was cooked to perfection but the confit was duck was excellent. Probably the best confit duck I’ve ever had. The sauce for the veal cheeks was a little bit salty but flavour was good and the meat was tender. The portions for the main course are quite large, so you would be full even if you just ordered a main but we loved the food so much we also got dessert. We got chocolate cake, the Queen Elizabeth, and an eclair for dessert. All of them were excellent but my favourite was the Queen Elizabeth as it comes with sour cream ice cream which I thought was a very creative addition.
I have been to both rooms in the past, but only returned recently given how long it has been since last visit. Sincerely, took for granted how stunning the decor this restaurant is. The service is top notch, the food elevated and overall just an amazing dining experience. The mushroom gnocchi and the dry aged rib eye were just fantastic, and the fries were incredible. There is a reason why it is so often fully booked. This place is professionally run and it shows in the consistency over the years.
A very cool restaurant - split into a Brasserie and a tasting dining room, it has a very beautiful layout. This review is for the dining room. The food tasted great, everything was delicious. I think because we went for lunch, the service was a bit more spotty - we had to flag our server multiple times for more water, among other things, so that was a bit of a miss. The food was amazing though. Every dish was tasty, perfect cooked, and beautifully presented.
Paid enough to fine dine in Manhattan, but the size of meat that came was smaller than the butter they brought for the bread..it took me a single bite to finish the most expensive plate in the menu. Felt like a fancy scam in a great ambience. Atmosphere was great not gonna lie if you want photos for Instagram you can still go.
Great service and great food
Rude service and overpriced food… Super disappointing!
