Very rude service, we came 2: 45 for our 2:30 reservation and they said the kitchen is closed u need to leave. Mind you they called me and i said i was on my way and the young girl was still harrasing me on the phone and saying if ur not here im gonna cancel now. Very rude we asked for manager the sassy guy and he said now u said u cant fly to the restaurant im not gonna give u the seat and was very childish acting like kindergarden. The boss should really consider who he is hiring he looked very unhygenic aswell his beard wasnt clean at all and his hair was grown out. What a employees absolutley disgusting. Did he really think i still wanne order there and spend my money at a place like that?? U thought wrong. Learn some manners. Regarding to their respond this old cheap brick thinks i would ever step a foot in sucha restaurant. there are 23574 restaurants! dont flatter urself please! Hire staff that have expierince because this is just embarresing, calling me rude but didn’t mention anything i said in a rude matter. U have nothing fair to say. What a unproffesional business! Least you could do is apoligize!
Absolutely amazing experience! Marwa took care of me so well! I had such a delicious meal! I highly recommend the oysters and smoked salmon (it’s not salty!! Just right) with the baguette. The dessert was so yummy too! 100% would come back!
Dining at Le Pois Penché is an experience that truly captures the charm of a classic Parisian brasserie right in the heart of Montreal. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is warm, elegant, and inviting perfect for anything from a relaxed brunch to a special night out. The service is exceptional: attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling rushed. The food is where this place really shines. Every dish is beautifully presented and full of rich, authentic French flavors. From perfectly cooked steak frites to indulgent brunch classics, everything tastes thoughtfully prepared and consistently delicious. If you’re looking for a refined dining experience with top-tier service and incredible food, this spot easily ranks among the best in Montreal. Highly recommended you won’t be disappointed.
Delicious food, friendly staff, amazing service. Julien made great recommendations!
My friends and I were sat in front of the Oyster Bar on April 18th and we were delighted by the hands on process and care of the staff here. Brilliant and gracious service, everything was a delicious experience and we all would go again in a HEARTBEAT. We can't recommend this place enough. Well worth the price attached for this phenomenal experience.
Simply exquisite
They forgot to bring us the menu for a very looong time, we only got it once they came to take our order. This delayed our evening. Which was disappointing, because after we finished eating we were ask to leave so they could sit someone else at the table.
Amazing bouillabaisse! Cheese cake was great too. Service is impeccable.
Amazing food and service
Great place, with very tasty food and excellent service✨💯🦪🍷🥩
We went for brunch and it was delicious. Perfect portions. French fries were at point: crunchy and not greasy. The service is simply impeccable.
Started with les escargots 9.5/10 (balanced, not too salty, no sand in my snails) My friend had duck somewhere else for the first time and told me about their disappointment. Told them about how Pois penché's duck is 😍👌🏽 and as always they delivered. Crispy skin + melting in the mouth + the sauce = 9/10. I had Andrew as my waiter.
I came alone without appointment. I sat at the bar. Matthew was very attentive and yet gave me personal space. Meals and drinks all came at the right time in the right order. Duck Confit was really good.
Great authentic French cuisine, family atmosphere, or date night. We had a round table for 8, great for a family occasion. Very good cocktails as well
Amazing experience, great food, great service, and the best espresso martini I’ve ever had. On top of that there was amazing live singing, what a great experience for a first timer in Montreal. Thank you to amazing staff.
A tall man dark skinned with a suit insulated and lied in front all the client that's unacceptable he presented himself as the owner after doing some research the name of the owner doesn't match that employee. Either way he refused to take my order lied and I left with such an unacceptable disrespect. I felt like he couldn't be the owner but he confirmed 'I am'. He should be fired. Not only bad customer service, gaslighting and manipulation. He wasn't the waiter he was at the door very arrogant and ugly.
I dined at Le Pois Penché on Monday, March 30, at 17:30 and overall had a very enjoyable experience that lived up to its reputation for classic French cuisine with a refined Montreal touch. My party of two, opted for the special two part meal for 49$ per person. Istarted with the escargot and cod balls as entrées. The escargot were rich and buttery, exactly what was expected —well-seasoned and served piping hot. Maybe au gratin could have been an option. A nice chefs touch was that in my 6 place dish I received 8 pieces ☺️ The cod balls were a pleasant surprise: light, crispy on the outside, and soft and flavorful inside, with a nice balance that didn’t feel too heavy. The aioli was on pont, I could maybe not pick and say that I could have used more of that aioli. For mains, I had the duck confit while my guest chose the mussels. The duck confit was beautifully prepared—tender, fall-off-the-bone, with a perfectly lightly crisp skin. The skin could have been crispy’er. The mussels were fresh and generously portioned, served in a flavorful cream broth that was made for soaking up with bread. The ambiance was elegant yet comfortable, with a classic bistro feel that makes it suitable for both special occasions and relaxed dinners. We reserved and yet we received a table next to the open kitchen. A spot here when the kitchen would be busy, and the dinning room full could be good. However with things calm we could hear a bit too much kitchen and not much cooking to see. Service was attentive and lightly professional, though at times slightly slower than expected, which with the other mentions is the reason this isn’t a full 5-star experience. Overall, a strong 4-star meal so ( 4.25 star )Le Pois Penché delivers high-quality French cuisine in a charming setting, and I would definitely return—especially for that duck confit, and mussels. Note that a 5 star rating from me is possible, however it has to be almost perfect. This restaurant is very close.
Good food, they changed the menu. Nothing out of this world, just really solid. Service was really good, and the ambiance was very french bistro. They have coat stands to put your jacket. Bathroom is only one, so you might have to wait a bit to use the washroom.
Excellent duck confit!
decent food, super over priced. I rarely see anyone eating here anymore
Great experience tonight at Le Pois Penché. Our server was so nice and the live music was fun. I had the Canard and it was delicious.
I recently celebrated my 60th birthday at Le Pois Penché, and everything exceeded my expectations. The private room created an intimate and elegant setting, the cuisine was outstanding, and the service was impeccable. It was the perfect venue for a memorable celebration.
We had a great meal and wonderful server Marco. We had oysters as an appetizer which were delicious. Main meal were seafood bouillabaisse, steak frites and cod. Loves the atmosphere.
Duck confit was absolutely delicious. Oysters and salmon as part of the seafood platter were fresh. Maybe skip the prawn as it wasn't as flavorful. Overall a delicious meal and I will return!
