What guests say about Le Hobbit

Le Hobbit seems to offer creative and flavorful cuisine, with several very positive comments about breakfast, brunch, and dinner. The service is often described as warm, attentive, and professional, and the atmosphere as cozy and pleasant. A few reviews do mention, however, that portions can sometimes be small, service can occasionally be slower, and some dishes may seem too complex or less memorable to certain diners. Overall, it is a highly recommended spot for a gourmet experience in Quebec City.

Best omelette I've had in North America. Didn't taste the uni too much but it was still great and the caviar was a complimenting and not over the top sidekick.

Highly recommend. Visiting and we decided to try based on Reddit recommendations. Cozy atmosphere, top service from servers who clearly care about the experience and the food was both creative and flavourful. Cocktails were also amazing.

Good food and excellent service. We enjoyed the experience and the insight from the super helpful staff. Visiting from Tennessee and the U.S. we were amazed that the red wine was poured at cellar temperature. I think I am going to like Quebec.

Wow. That’s all I can say. This is the most unique and tasty restaurant I’ve ever tried , having travelled to most major cities in Canada. The service was 10/10, our server was so attentive, funny and kind. Explained everything really well. The price to portion ratio is great, very reasonable portions for the mains. Nice relaxing ambiance. Drinks were carefully crafted, same with the food. We tried the old fashioned, negroni, non alcoholic spritz, chicken and the catch of the day. Just a perfect experience overall. Thank you.

This was by far the best dining experience I had while in Quebec City. I got in the afternoon before it got too busy at dinner so it was nice and quiet. The atmosphere of this place is unmatched, even the toilets were super cool and showed the history! My server was great as well and if it weren’t for his recommendation I wouldn’t have had such a great experience. First I got homemade bread, classic French entree, and it was so warm, fluffy and nice (and dangerous), with the truffle butter being very earthy. But the star of the show was the blood pudding, something I’ve never had, with escargot and potato. This elevated dish had so many components, from the egg yolk on the potato adding slight sourness, but the potato being so creamy with a great mouth feel. The mushroom veal sauce added a nice moistness to the whole dish and was very strong. The Parm elevated the snails which nice and tender a lot. But the blood pudding sounds weird but was so warm, and moist with steam coming right out. There were little onions inside that added to the aromatics and texture. The flavours were unique, complex and rich. The dish was also so beautiful I almost didn’t want to eat it. Overall the value for this place is crazy, you get an amazing French meal for a reasonable price. If you visit Quebec City, go here. The locals are so lucky to have this.

All three dishes were tasty with interesting and effective flavour profiles. The coffee was really good. Highly recommend for breakfast The atmosphere was lively but not too loud For the La Totale (big breakfast) the sausage was good, the jam was amazing, the potatoes were good, the ham was ok, bacon was meh and the toast half was great and half a little burned

The server is super nice and gave us a lot of recommendations and explained us the ingredients and the process of making it. It is expensive but I think it is worth it.

The food and ambience are excellent and unique, but the staff were exceptional. This is the first time I have heard friends who are trying to practice French asked if they would like their service in French or English, as opposed to switching to English as soon as some difficulty or English intonation is noted. The gentleman, whose name unfortunately escapes me, providing service for Saturday brunch did this and absolutely made their day by doing a full run down of the menu in French and continuing to work with them in French, even if it took a little longer. This was a memorably good meal and a place I can wholeheartedly recommend. Brunch and breakfast food itself was great. The menu is quite unique - I can't say I've had a beet based eggs Benedict before, but it was great!

Ate here on Good Friday. Made a reservation over a month ago-visiting from out of town and wanted a nice restaurant for dinner that was close to our hotel, but could also be appropriate for our 8 year old son. Did not disappoint. Shared veal shank and the catch of day (cod). Also got dessert. Son had homemade iced tea and husband and I split wine. Server, Sebastian, was lovely. We were seated in the back room. Front space had bar spots and was more busier. Back was also filled, but also a small space. Definitely want a reso. I comment more on it later, but worked for us as a family since we knew our son would be fine sharing these type of dishes. Plus we ate snacks at hotel lounge ahead of time, so there wasn’t any kid hunger pains. If you bring kids, I’d say bring two max. Since it’s not a kid place, but could work if you know your family. Overall very happy with our choice and money spent. Merci!

Absolutely stunning. Came here for breakfast from out west while on a business trip. It was the coziest, warmest little restaurant with amazing staff, incredible food and that beautiful traditional French culture. 50 years this place has been running and the experience shows. I will be back.

A wonderful breakfast. We stumbled upon Le Hobbit on a previous trip to Québec City, but prioritized visiting here when we returned to Québec. The food is delicious and creative. The coffee is also excellent. We found the service to also be very good. Given the quality of everything, the value is absolutely outstanding Highly recommend!

The food was excellent. Service with a smile. Recommendations for Specials and Wine Selection were spot on. I’d go back again if I had the time. A lovely unassuming spot for that special, or not-necessarily-special, dinner.

Very good food. The only drawback is that's probably so good, one might need reservation, even for breakfast.

Phenomenal food with a great focus on seafood and creative dishes. Started with their panegroni, probably the best negroni riff I’ve ever had. I then had the fried oysters in buffalo sauce and blue cheese cream to start, followed by the fish of the day; walleye, in a sea urchin crème. Outstanding service, strongly recommend.
