Took the kids here on a Sunday morning and honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience — the place was buzzing but not chaotic, which is exactly what you need with little ones in tow. Our server was incredibly patient while my youngest kept changing her mind about what she wanted, and she ended up loving the French toast. The room itself has this classic old-world Quebec City charm that feels special without being too stuffy for a casual family breakfast. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area.
Reviews / Ratings for Le Continental
Love Le Continental! It is a must eat place when visiting Quebec City. The table side service, the fabulous food and the service is impeccable.
We had the seafood plater and crêpes suzette. A tad pricey but very beautifull place
By far the best service provided in Quebec City at the Continental Restaurant from Andrea our server and chef. He was amazing and we felt like we were royalty! Highly recommend this place and be sure to ask for Andrea to be your server - you won’t be disappointed😎
By far one of the best meals I have ever had, from the ambiance to the delightful Andreas who prepared our meal, my wife and I both agree this was the perfect place to celebrate our 40th anniversary.
Finally experienced the Continental! We had a great time!
I chose Le Continental for my after engagement celebration dinner and I was extremely disappointed in the experience. What was supposed to be a joyous celebration became a thoroughly disappointing night. To start, our original waiter had a very poor attitude from the beginning like he was annoyed at us. The restaurant wasn’t busy as it was a Wednesday night so I really can’t pin it on being stretched thin or ordering slower than what they expect, which was not the case. His annoyance became more apparent as he tried to upsell a bottle of wine multiple times to us despite having ordered cocktails already and having politely declined multiple times. I understand that sale of alcohol is a large part of the restaurant business, but we did order drinks and it’s not like we were not spending money as we ordered many sides and appetizers with our entrees and the total bill came out to be $350 CAD for two. While this was already uncomfortable, the epitome of this bad experience was the severely undercooked steak that was supposed to be the highlight of the dinner. We ordered a medium rare sirloin and a medium filet steak. The filet came out alright, but the sirloin was blue rare. I’m very aware of steak doneness charts and that steaks cooked at proper restaurants are rarer than one may typically think, but this was several shades rarer than what I ordered. It was red throughout, had a very cool center, and sinew was very visible. They offered to cook it more, which they did, but at that point all the sides were out and were sitting getting cold. On top of that, they didn’t even acknowledge the severely incorrect doneness and when it came back out, it was still rare. Also, I don’t know if this common occurrence, but I mentioned “original” waiter before because the person who cooked the steak table-side (steaks were flambé style) was actually a different person than our original, annoyed waiter. I may be stretching here, but it felt like the original waiter pawned off our table to the very young, and now more apparent, inexperienced waiter. This seemed to be reinforced by the fact that when the annoyed waiter tried to upsell a bottle of wine to us for the last time, he mentioned that that would be his last opportunity to get a bottle of wine for us as he would be busy cooking the steaks table-side, which he didn’t even end up doing. Overall, this dinner was a horrible experience and I hope this restaurant better trains their staff.
Andrea was our cook, waiter and catered to our every need. He cook in front of us with lots of fire which was something to always remember. My wife was always taken care of with a high demand of satisfaction in-which I enjoyed to watch. He was the perfect waiter if you like a little laugh with your meal. Beyond satisfied which left us talking about the evening well after we left.
Five starts on the quality of the food and the presentation of the service.
Food was good but not great. You’re really there for the show and the old school experience. It’s extremely expensive for what you’re getting. It’s mostly worth it for the touristic expense but not so much for the food.
Fantastic service, staff were very professional, prompt and attentive. We started with a Caesars salad made at the table, shrimp cocktail and a lobster bisque. The main was the veal medallion and Sirloin Sirloin steak, served with vegetables. Sirloin was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and the veal medallion were very tender.
Amazing dining experience. Thank you to Anthony Bourdain for showing us this gem on his show. May he rest in peace
I brought my wife to Le Continental to celebrate her birthday. Upon entering I was struck by the delicious smell as well as the classic decor and the white-jacketed wait staff. Old world elegance was everywhere! The cocktails and appetizers were amazing. But the true centerpiece of the evening were the steaks, cooked perfectly table-side! To cap it off we finished with the cherries jubilee, also cooked table-side. When in Quebec, I highly recommend dinner here, a Quebec institution since 1956!
The menu may not have changed in decades, but this is not a fault! Not only are the expert staff preparing your dishes tableside, and making it all look effortless, they also provide superfun banter to really make your evening!
Very fun meal with everything cooked table side. Very traditional atmosphere but fun experience!
Andrea is an amazing host. Food cooked by him was amazing too. Highly recommend.
Wonderful dinner, food service were all excellent
The flambe experience is awesome. Steak was cooked medium rare, and melted easily in the mouth. The escargots were surprisingly tasty, and I didn't expect to like them as much as I did. Definitely worth a go if you never try. It tastes kind of similar to palak paneer. Medalion de mushrooms was creamy and a little bit spicy. The crab appetizer tasted amazing with the mushroom garlic sauce. The coconut chocolate easter egg dessert was well done too (it was an easter special). All in all a fun michelin dining experience
Everything was excellent! Just one minor point for improvement, we ran out of table space for the food. It would be great if you can have larger table.
If you want to impress, it’s definitely the place to be, especially if you love meat. The service is truly 5 star, very attentive from start to finish. Everything we tried was delicious: foie gras, escargots, Chateaubriand, and crêpes Suzette. The flambé presentation is a really nice touch and makes the experience special. The atmosphere isn’t modern, but that’s part of the charm, with white tablecloths and staff in white blazers, it feels like stepping back in time. Highly recommend for a special occasion. I would definitely come back without hesitation!
Elegant, delicious, excellent service. Must dine. Caesar salad, filet, scallops perfect. Excellent wine pairings. A must do!
Saw this on Anthony Bourdain and it didn’t disappoint. A special place for our last night in Quebec City.
Outstanding and unparalleled tableside food, service, and care. Fantastic dining experience, thank you!
This was the best meal of all the great ones thst we had this week; I will recommend La Continental to anyone that I know visiting Quebec City; the service and food was excellent; we shared a local cheese plate to start; Rose had giant scallops and I had veal medallions and both were magnifique; the chocolate mousse and Black Forest cake that we had for dessert were great finishes to a memorable meal; well done by everyone on staff
Beware… TOURIST TRAP. If you’re a foodie please move on to the next place. 100% OVERRATED….. I really wanted to love this place but it is so overrated and Quebec is filled with amazing restaurants
