fantastic experience all around
Reviews / Ratings for Laurie Raphaël
We had a wonderful time celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. With the restaurant being family owned and operated, you could feel the pride and warmth from every member of the staff. The meal was stunning. Every time we finished a course we declared it our favorite of the night, just to find the next course equally delicious. We also enjoyed Simon and our lovely wine pairings!!
Stumbled upon Laurie Raphaël on a whim last Saturday while wandering the old port, and honestly it completely changed my benchmark for fine dining in Quebec City. The tasting menu was a revelation — the scallop crudo with fermented cream was unlike anything I've had before, delicate but bold at the same time. Service was warm and unpretentious, which I wasn't expecting at that level of restaurant; they took their time explaining each dish without being stuffy about it. Definitely coming back next time I have something worth celebrating.
From start to finish, this was an excellent evening. We each had the 8 course gastronomic experience with wine pairings. Every course was visually appealing and tasted outstanding. The wine pairings were spot on. The service was superb and very attentive. On arrival at the restaurant, we were taken past the kitchen to be greeted by the chef and his staff. I had some dietary restrictions which were respected and accommodated. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
What a gem! Food as art! It was an extraordinary experience at Laurie Raphael! From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we knew it was going to be a special one. The food was top notch. The service was impeccable. Michael and the team took great care of us. Thank you! Looking forward to visiting again next time we are in Quebec City.
One of the best dining experiences in my life. For fine dining in Quebec City, you cannot do better.
Absolute wonderful michelin experience. I enjoyed walking through the kitchen to greet the chefs and seeing the bar, and finally sitting next to the beautifully decorated tree. The ambience was stunning. I got the personalized menu and shared dishes with my parenter, it was enough to fill me up. The only I absolutely disliked was the conservation alfred the farmers tart, it just did not leave a great taste in my mouth..however the other dishes were great. Notable favourites were the tradition chowder, the veggie gnocchi, and conservation orleans island baby kiwi. Also there was a gin cocktail, can't remember the name but it was yum. I'm also greatly appreciative of the staff as I was curious to try the pear in the alcohol drink, but I didn't like and they tried to make it more palatable. They gave me some great altnerative recommendations to try and get from saqs and I was curious to buying the bottle myself. I also enjoyed them questions about the dishes and they in turn were enthusiastic talking about it which I love to see. I would recommend this place only because I feel like the kitchen and crew tries to connect with you. If you come here, be involved and ask about why they did the dish this was way or the best way to consume it. Have a convo!
If you visit Quebec City this is the place to go, I will tell you must go😉
Amazing dining experience! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and each portion of the tasting menu was delicious and beautiful presentation.
On our recent vacation to Quebec City, we were lucky enough to secure a reservation at Laurie Raphaël. The food was unique and made your taste buds dance. I ate food that I normally would turn my nose up at and stomp my foot like a little kid saying I don’t like that… here, the chefs combined flavours that compliment each other in unimaginable ways. I ate until I thought my stomach would burst, but more food kept coming and it was so delightful that you couldn’t say no. I added on the non-alcoholic pairings and each one was truly a perfect match.
I liked their service, that's why I gave them five stars.
Excellent service with the in-house sommelier. Food was exquisite. Just let them guide you.
Excellent service with exceptional food. Love the portion too
Nice, semi-private eating experience. The food was delicious and service was great.
Unbelievable experience. Food was supreme and service was excellent and exceptional. Merci beaucoup!
Food is absolutely delicious and very innovative. Service can’t be beat.
I’ve been fortunate to dine at some of the top Michelin-starred restaurants in the world and genuinely look forward to these experiences. To this day, my benchmark remains Blue Hill at Stone Barns. With that context, this experience at Laurie Raphaël fell flat. The most glaring issue was the wine pairings. While the wines themselves were pleasant, they did nothing to elevate or interact meaningfully with the food—they felt like standalone glasses rather than thoughtful pairings. The dishes were undeniably beautiful, but beauty alone isn’t enough. Nothing truly wowed, surprised, or lingered. I left with a very large bill, a fair amount of disappointment, and the distinct feeling that I was still hungry—wishing somewhere else was open to get real food. I would recommend skipping Laurie Raphaël and going to La Planque instead. You’ll spend roughly a third of the price, eat a genuinely next-level meal, and leave satisfied rather than underwhelmed.
Had a great time dining here. The oysters were some of the best I've had. The gnocchi are to die for (they mentioned they always have a vegetarian course in their tasting, which is excellent). But the highlight was the steak and the Halibut. No doubt, the courses were flavorful and the presentation was intricate as expected from a restaurant of this calibre, but there was a lot of attention to detail to the textures which is the reason why dining here was one of the more unique experiences for me. Also, shoutout to Simon for being an excellent host. The way everything synchronized in harmony when I had the Halibut with the egg foam and the salsa in between with some crunch added set the dish apart for me. I loved the idea of duo steak. Smoked turnip went really well with it. The sauce was amazing and it was some of the best steak I've ever had.
Food perfection at its best 👌
First experience in a Michelin restaurant and I couldn’t be happier that I chose Laurie Raphael for my first. The service was next level, food was fantastic and they even took into account my note that it was my Fiancé’s birthday.
I loved meeting the Chef and the team. Fantastic creations and care into each dish. A true « repas gastronomique » . From the eye-of-Sauron foie gras to the sweet finish of elevated lemon meringue, it was a culinary delight. Looking for a culinary AND life experience like “The Menu” (Netflix 2022), then I recommend visiting Laurie Raphaël. Thanks for the care regarding our allergies!
This was my second time eating at a Michelin Star restaurant and I can safely say they deserved that star and then some. The service was incredible (thanks Simon!), the atmosphere was great, and the food…as much a treat for the eyes as the tastebuds. How fun it was to meet the chef as well. We loved every second of our experience and I would highly recommend checking this place out.
