What a gem. The food was fabulous, I highly recommend the ham and the shepherd's pie. Extremely tender. It was fabulous. The atmosphere is casual and makes you feel at home. It gets very busy and the service is amazing. Overall a must come back for us ☺️
What guests say about La Buche
La Bûche is highly appreciated for its authentic Quebec cuisine, hearty brunches, and desserts like pouding chômeur. The atmosphere is warm, original, and festive, with the decor often mentioned in reviews as a major highlight. Several customers recommend booking ahead, as the place is often very busy and a bit cramped or noisy. A few reviews also mention high prices and, occasionally, uneven service or wait times.

Fun restaurant that is full of character. In historic district of Old Quebec, they have kept the history while adding their own fun touches. Be sure to check out the bathrooms, and bring a Sharpie! Food was yummy and the service was prompt and friendly.
The decor is awesome! Food and service was great!
Excellent food and service! The building decor is also awesome!
Lively and welcoming. Service was beyond excellent! And food was delicious. Highly recommend!
Highly recommend La Buche. The food was fantastic, great service and awesome vibe with the decor and music. Everything we wanted in the experience.
Great spot. Left our signatures on the wooden posts for prosperity like so many before us.
A great time with home-style food and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff was fantastic!
Enjoyed Quebec shepherd’s pie and an omelet. Breakfast were crispy and thick toast. Maple taffy was a great way to end the meal!!
What a great, cozy, and inviting restaurant! Perfectly prepared traditional Quebec staples, yet elevated! The pâté chinois was very good, as were the tourtiere croquettes. Their homemade fruit ketchup is also an excellent touch. For dessert, the maple butter pancakes are a must. The atmosphere was lively, the service super friendly, and I would t hesitate to go back for either lunch or brunch. Menu has a wide selection, but would have preferred more choices of local beers or ciders.
La Buche accommodated our large party perfectly - the service was wonderful, food absolutely delicious. Such a cute and warm atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Everything about this restaurant was incredible. The poutine was absolutely fantastic (cheese was perfectly squeaky), services was lovely, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was really cool and unique. However, the standout of the meal was the dessert. GET the pudding add the ice cream!
I went twice. It was a good spot with tasty breakfast. Their hot sauce was the highlight for me. They made it in house and partnered with a local host sauce maker named "Pimenterie". Everything was fresh and clean. Portions were reasonable for the price. The atmosphere is charming, but was on a scale from cozy to tight it's on the tighter side. Everything I ordered was cooked well and was tasty. Nothing was low quality or greasy. I would go back weekly if I lived here.
Enjoyed spending time here. Very comforting decore. Wait staff were attentive and allowed us to take as long as we needed. Food lived up to the positive reviews. I had the Chicken and Waffles which had the right amount of sweet and spices. The Yogurt with berries and almonds was delicious.
I see now why it comes so highly recommended. This place is amazing, the lay out and design is worth the trip to begin with and the food and service were top notch. Very happy to have stopped here on our trip
It was amazing , the food was super good and the service too !
Great breakfast tray!
The atmosphere was excellent and the shepherd's pie was some of the best we've had. Poutine was great also!!
I was genuinely impressed as soon as I walked in — I wasn’t expecting the interior to be so beautiful. The décor really stands out, with snowshoes, antlers, wood details, and the contrast with the stone walls. The walls themselves, covered with “signatures” and memories from past visitors, create a unique and memorable atmosphere, especially for a first visit. We started with the beef croquettes. They were delicious, though the portion felt a bit small. For my main, I had the Quebec Shepherd’s Pie, which was excellent — tender, flavorful meat, nicely moist, and complemented by a fruit ketchup that adds a special touch. My wife ordered the Homemade Poutine and really enjoyed it, especially the gravy, which was rich yet delicate. I also tried the La Bûche NEIPA, which was very good. Like most restaurants in Old Quebec, prices are on the higher side, but I would absolutely return for the overall experience and the excellent service.
We come to La buche every time we visit QC City my husband and I. It’s just such a wonderfully warm and inviting place to eat!! The food is always delish, the portions surprisingly generous and presentation is great. The service is fantastic!! Today Yoan R. was our waiter and he was friendly and helpful with his recommendations, his team and himself kept the coffee coming, we never had to ask. We always enjoy our experience at La buche!! Make sure to save space for the Pudding Chômeur!!!
The best breakfast place I’ve ever been so far…
We had a blast. The atmosphere was great and really fun. The service was always on top of it and the food was incredible. We were recommended to go here and we would also highly recommend. Price was also great for what you got!
We really enjoyed the food. Wonderful staff location and ambience and a good value.
