Reviews / Ratings for La Banquise
A very popular spot for poutine in Montreal —we arrived around 2:30 pm and still had to wait over half an hour to get a table. The food was excellent and the portions were generous; the three of us ordered two small servings and were already more than full.
That’s amazing but in the toilets haven’t paper toilet, but the food and the atmosphere is very good.
Honestly hands down one of the best poutine I’ve had. If your in Montreal, La Banquise is a must-try. What we ordered La Classique and La Sud-Ouest
One of the BEST poutine in the city. Try the Sud-west.
Amazing poutine! The meats are tender, the sauce just right, and the cheese super squeaky!
After 10 years still one of the best poutines in the city!
Best poutine in town
Great place
I had the vegan sauce and it is gluten free!! I was so happy I could have a poutine in Montreal that was such a high quality. Thank you so much!!
I got a regular La Classique and was so full by the end of it. I haven’t had much poutine to compare but it was so good!
You can't go wrong with this place. As always, the food was great. They have many options that you have to keep coming back to try more! I had a burger for the fist time and was gladly surprised.
Great place for having Poutine in Montreal! 24hrs open! Best quality and menu has varieties which you can find your taste!
Good breakfast place
wayyy to packed. touching elbows w another table rn. reg poutine tastes like NY fries. disappointing. and the hot dog came on a piece of white bread… no service either unless we were ordering. had to wait outside for 30 minutes.
Super Smoked Sandwich 🥪
A must-eat place in almost all trip reviews. Good to have a try for local experience. Must pay attention to the time to avoid long queue in cold wind. Suggest to go with meat.
Depends what I am reviewing here... food or service. Did the smoked meat poutine. Meat was salty, but still really good. Service: (went late night) -Stood at door while staff was standing there cracking jokes vs being professional and acknowledging patrons -Was brought waters upon greet, which was nice -Made order then was told we have to pay right away (late night rules, we we're fine with this, respected and understood) -Once paid, other than the food being delivered, all service stopped. Think about this for a second, you're tipping and paying ahead of time, then you get no service. I wanted more water due to how salty my food was but no one cared, no one checks in to see if you needed anything (no condiments on our table) -No one came well after we were done to see if we wanted takeout containers (which we did), so had to get up and ask/ get it ourselves) To me, pre tipping is a bust! So don't tip, tell them you will leave cash (if they even deserve it) after. They also watch as you put in payment options. Expect takeout vibes dining in. Service was non existent. Would I come back, no. Would I order takeout in the future? Possibly, to try something different and hopefully not as salty. If you want to go for the hype, do it. Expect it to be anticlimactic.
Poutine is a classic and a must for an appropriate immersion to Qiebecua Cuisine. And La Banquise did not disappoint us! Huge variety of poutine with good prices, excellent service. We had to wait 20 min around 8pm for dinner. The wait was still worthy. Great atmosphere and yummy food.
Delicious. Excelent service
The smoke meat is spooky good. The portions are huge, the large one is more than enough for two.
Don't miss this place!!! There will be a long line outside, we also waited an hour to get a table, but it's all worth it when you taste the first bite of any Poutine there! We had Veggie Reggie Poutine and Veggie burger, it was sooo good. I never had a poutine like this ever before!
Oh gosh. That's all.
A convenient all night eatery with legendary poutine dishes situated near the parc La Fontaine where Rue Rachel does its half-block kink. In a city where poutine can be had everywhere, La Banquise differentiates itself with its innovativ poutine variations. In addition to the traditional gravy on fries and cheese curd type, La Banquise also offers over 20 different variations with different meat and vegetable add-ons. So there is no getting bored here as it will take a month to try all the flavors one a day. Other than the poutine, they also have a pretty extensive beer menu feature their own house brews and beers from several local breweries. The house blanche and rousse are both decent and go down way too easily. This is one of the must visits of Montréal in my book.
Amazing service no matter the time of day you come, always delicious food with fast and friendly service.
