Can't say enough about our honeymoon tasting menu experience at l'Orygine, which was recommended to me by my private club's general manager. The experience surpassed all expectations, both on the menu and wine pairings; the maitre d' was world-class, and we had the opportunity to sample unbelievable Quebec ingredients we simply do not have access to in Toronto. Bravo to all involved — an unforgettable experience.

We ate at L’Orygine on March 29, 2026 and we had an amazing experience. Food was delicious; however, I would have loved additional depth to the flavours. Cocktails were really good as well. Service was amazing and servers know the food and cocktail menus very well. The interior design is absolutely beautiful and tasteful. Feel free to give this restaurant a try if you happen to be in Quebec City.

We had a phenomenal evening at L'Orygine, enjoying the discovery menu with wine pairing for one of us and a non-alcoholic pairing for the other.

I was hesitant to post this review. My partner and I really were so excited to go to L'Origin. The sebasste (rockfish) was a delicious dish with great complimentary flavours. However, I was just so disappointed with the flavours and quality of most dishes. While creative and aesthetic choices were well executed, when I am paying $500+ for 2 dinners and wine I do expect the flavour to consistently be there as well. I am from a province with many seasonal businesses, and was left with the feeling that they should just be closed for the winter, rather than provide expensive food that just doesn't taste good. Most dishes had a flavour that drowned out part of the other dishes. We were served a delicious veal tarte that was overpowered by the tarte shell. There was one dish of beets-3-ways and despite loving beets the textures and lack of any other flavour getting through left me disappointed. The mushroom dessert was creative, but had a bad aftertaste. If you have the extra cash, and reframe the experience as an art exhibition on local food availability and how we are dependent on trade routes for good flavours in our cuisine (especially in winter), then it's interesting, although a little costly. In the end we were left disappointed with the flavour while the aesthetic of the food was completely on point. It looked good. It presented well. 3 out of the 6 dishes tasted fine (not amazed) and 3 left me very disappointed that this was the restaurant we chose for our holiday this year. This was my first Michelin Star restaurant and I was surprised at how little flavour most dishes had. I was expecting more, as I've had amazing meals at non-starred restaurants locally. I feel they focused far more on aesthetic than flavour.

From our first welcome by Sam & William we were transported. The ambiance is elegant, earthy and alive !. We chose “the Discovery menu” and mmm…. a beautiful experience with delicate and sensuous flavors created from root vegetables, seafood, meat and nuts. We felt serenaded with each presentation and the textures and tastes were phenomenal and delightful. Magnifique ! Merci beaucoup chefs, owners and you fabulous servers ! It was a truly memorable experience to dine with you L’Orygine. 🙏🏼❤️

Exceptional experience - they were very accommodating for a vegetarian and for my pregnant partner. Excellent service and kind staff. The food is exquisite, the chefs are incredibly creative. Thank you to the great staff!

This was my second visit to Bistro l’Orygine. The first time, during a different season, the cuisine was truly surprising and memorable. On this occasion, however, I didn’t experience the same “wow” factor when tasting the dishes. The Discovery Menu remains my favorite choice, and I had hoped to be just as impressed as I was during my first visit. While everything was well executed, the element of surprise that once made the experience exceptional felt less present this time.

A truly memorable fine dining experience. The food was eye-opening and absolutely divine, each dish thoughtfully crafted and full of flavor. The atmosphere was cozy yet chic, creating the perfect setting for a special evening. The service was impeccable we were warmly taken care of by an amazing server who made us feel genuinely welcomed. Our requests for no red meat and no alcohol in the dishes were respected with a big smile, without any compromise on taste or creativity. We chose this restaurant for a special-occasion date night, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. Truly top-notch.

Our experience at L’Orygine was nothing short of perfection. My husband and I didn’t know what to expect when we ordered the discovery menu but it was exquisite. Firstly, it was an incredibly elegant and excellent vegan menu - every dish was packed with flavour and perfect portions to accommodate 6 courses. The most lovely surprise was the wine selection, as we had no idea every course came with a different type of wine and they all paired perfectly with the food served. To top it all off, our server, Sam, was so attentive and kind; he was really the cherry on top of an already impeccable experience. My husband and I are still raving about L’Orygine even the next day. Thank you for such a special and amazing dinner experience. We can’t wait to come back!
