I was fairly dissapointed with my visit to India Rosa Griffintown and I am a little confused on why the ratings are so high. I have been to their location in Montreal and enjoyed it but this visit, my first at this location, was not really good. Everyone was nice and the place is quite big, so it can accommodate groups of any size, however it was the food that really left me wanting more. There are a lot of great Indian restaurants in Montreal, but this is not one I would recommend as the dish I had (the tasting platter for two) was quite disappointing. It was basically a piece of lamp, chicken and saumon with some spices but there was no spiciness to it. I would have prefered a lot more variety and some of those delicious dishes with sauces that have so much flavour and spice. The best part was the small side that came with it. Also, the drinks are way overpriced and overall it is much more expensive than much better Indian restaurants in Montreal.

I had an amazing experience at India Rosa. Everything was on point from the fresh and flavorful food to the beautiful decor and great music that really set the vibe. The service was exceptional, especially from our Moroccan waitress who was incredibly kind and attentive throughout the night. You can tell they really care about the full experience, not just the food. Definitely coming back for more!

We went here for dinner and had mixed feelings about the experience. The food itself was good and flavorful, so no complaints on that front. However, the service really took away from the overall experience. Our server barely checked in on us throughout the meal. We were hoping to order more naan, but it took a long time to get her attention. By the time the naan finally arrived, the rest of our food had already gone cold, which was disappointing. The lack of service made the visit frustrating honestly.

The food may be very good, but I wouldn’t know if it’s worth the trouble again. Trying to arrange a corporate group reservation turned into an unnecessarily frustrating process that ultimately made me lose interest altogether. Instead of a simple phone call, the manager insisted on handling everything strictly through email or a reservation form requiring full credit card details upfront. What should have taken a few minutes dragged into multiple back-and-forth emails over three days, just to clarify basic details. For a business booking, this felt rigid, impersonal, and inefficient. A quick conversation could have resolved everything immediately, but that option wasn’t offered. Good food isn’t enough to make up for a process this inconvenient. I won’t be pursuing a reservation here again.

On the other hand, we are sorry to hear that our group reservation process did not meet your expectations, but we must remain consistent with the procedures that allow us to properly manage large bookings. For corporate and social groups of this size, we follow a structured reservation process that is standard practice in many restaurants. Our process is handled by email and reservation form so that all important details can be communicated clearly and accurately in writing, including menu selections, timing, billing arrangements, guest count policies, and cancellation or no-show terms. This protects both the guest and the restaurant, avoids misunderstandings, and ensures we can prepare appropriately for the event. Due to the high volume of group booking requests we receive, this email-based procedure is also the most effective way for us to respond seven days a week and provide consistent, accurate information to every guest. To clarify, this was not a matter of a manager “insisting” on anything, but simply our reservation team applying the same required booking procedure used for all large groups. We do not make exceptions based on pressure or preference, as we believe in treating all guests fairly and equally. The process itself is straightforward and could have been completed in a single email exchange had the requested information been provided promptly and the required steps followed cooperatively. The extended back-and-forth resulted from the process being challenged rather than completed. Regarding the credit card information, it is requested only to secure and confirm large group reservations. It is never charged in advance simply for booking. Any applicable no-show or last-minute cancellation fees are clearly explained beforehand in the emails and on the form and, if applicable, are settled in person as part of the final bill. In your case, the reservation request was for 25 guests, while only 18 guests arrived without any advance notice of the reduced attendance. From our review, the requested information and next steps were clearly provided, but it appeared that the required reservation procedure was being avoided, as we never received the requested completed information, form or confirmation. Despite that, we still reserved space for your group in a last effort to accommodate you. Note that for large groups, accurate numbers are essential for staffing, table planning, food preparation, and space allocation. We always do our best to be flexible and accommodating, and we ask for the same cooperation from our guests by respecting the agreed process and communicating important changes beforehand. In the end, we feel your negative review is particularly unfair given that, despite the lack of cooperation on your part, our team still managed to welcome your group and provide you with a proper dining experience. We stand by this procedure because it allows us to provide an organized and high-quality experience for all guests, not just one party. We wish you all the best. The India Rosa team

The host was very rude. We walked in off the street as the restaurant looked quite but the host ignored us by starting to prepare for us and then stops after he finds out we don't have a reservation! Then he chooses to help another group who walked in after us, first. Message received, you don't want us to celebrate our friend's birthday & business meeting. The sad part is the restaurant was almost empty!

We received a great service from Alice. She was very friendly and attentive. The mimosas were perfectly balanced. The only dent in our otherwise great experience was at reception where l found the lady a bit cold and argumentative, for no reason.

This is an absolutely superbe spot for a date night or drinks with friends or colleagues. Great food, some dishes might be a bit spicy 🥵 🍢 but most are very tasty 😋 🤤 and superbly presented. They have a great specialty cocktail 🍹 list as well as a good wine 🍷 and beer 🍺 selection. Make sure you reserve on the weekends because it dose get quite busy.

Jokes aside, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it should still remain grounded in the truth. Saying our food is “not Indian” is simply inaccurate. Our cuisine is rooted in traditional Indian flavors and techniques while also embracing a modern approach. Indian cuisine is one of the most diverse in the world, and it goes far beyond the narrow version some people may expect. Not every style will suit every guest, and that’s perfectly fine. But disliking something personally is very different from misrepresenting what it is. Great food and ambiance—really enjoyed the overall experience. The bucket seats, while visually appealing, are quite uncomfortable and make it difficult to sit properly during a meal. It’s definitely something worth reconsidering. Unfortunately, if you’re a group of five, there’s no option but to sit there. I received your response but I don’t think you understood. We did sit at a a table with a booth, not at the bar.

It was a good experience having dinner here with my girlfriend. The ambiance is good. The seating is nice. The tables are well spaced and the music is chill. We had three courses, one side of one main dish and one desert, and all of it was delicious. My favourite was the lamb kebab.

Great food, great drinks, great service. Everything was amazing from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. The atmosphere is very intimate and soothing, the music was also just the right volume, not too loud so you can actually have a conversation. The portions were generous, we had a hard time finishing what we ordered. I highly recommend.
