The service was good. The shrimp was good, but the steak was just okay and lacked flavor. If you go here, don’t order the steak.
What guests say about Houston Steak & Fruits De Mer
Houston Steak & Seafood in Laval often receives good comments for attentive service, lively atmosphere, and tasteful decor. Many customers find the food delicious, especially the steak, ribs, and some seafood dishes, but a few reviews mention small portions, high prices, and inconsistent quality depending on the dish. There are also recurring complaints about noise, reservation organization, and some interactions with staff, so the experience seems to vary a lot.

The food was delicious, our waitress was amazing!
Beautiful place, tasty food and cocktail did not seem watered down which is great. Enjoyed the ambiance and the meal. However, the SERVICE WAS AWFUL. The big black guy in the back of the restaurant section rushed us, he did facilitate an order change which was appreciated but he brought sashimi when I asked a few times for tataki. It’s fine I didn’t ask to change as sashimi worked too but I specifically mentioned tataki a few times. My friend asked a question and he didn’t seem to know the menu which again it’s not the end of the world. What really left us with an unpleasant after taste is the way he kept rushing us, asking if we’re done with our meal when we were clearly eating. My friend was with utensils in her hand, and half her steak on the plate with food in her mouth when he asked her if she’s done. Then came back asking about my cocktail when I still had some in the glass. I also ordered sparkling water, the other white guy who was going around with the water didn’t pour the water once at our table but did it at others. We said we’re not sure about desserts, the server insisted to get some which I ended up taking but I wasn’t done eating my dessert, the black guy came again asking if it will be a split bill. We did not ask for a bill. Fine, we paid, but they kept looking at us, we felt unwelcomed and rushed. I wanted to tip still 15% since it’s a personal policy even if the service is horrible. It started at 18% tipping and I decided against changing the amount so just tipped 18%. The guy had the audacity to turn to the water guy and yell across the room “she tipped”. I really hope I misheard as my friend was in her phone and didn’t hear it but regardless he wasn’t talking to us and we felt very awkward and unpleasant and as if they wanted us out despite there being quite a lot of empty tables. Again, the place is beautiful and the food and cocktail were great I just wish the service was half decent. I didn’t experience such horrible service in a while but maybe I expected more from this type of place.
To be honest everything was great, I haven't rated at full price the service because tips 20% were included in the receipt itself, and I usually leave this exact percentage, but forcing and not giving a choice is a bad idea. The food is well made it's not something unique and extraordinary but fits expectations for fair pricing.
I called to ask if I can bring a birthday cake and the person I spoke to said it will be 2$ to cut each piece of cake i asked even if we cut it he goes well ya what do u think we use the knife plates dishwasher he goes ur bringing food from outside when i sell cakes here i said ya a lot of people do then he goes its 18% tip for groups so just tell the people that… he was very rude and i would not consider this restaurant or recommend to anyone
I am a regular customer, i love this place and his management people on the floor.
Loved the tuna tacos and the beats salad, both delicious. The burger with brie and fig jam is yummy. Good service 😀
We went tonigh to celebrate a birthday and I was impressed with the service, ambiance and the food. I ordered the roast beef, it was delicious. My husband ordered the ribs and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I am picky when eating out do when I say it tasted great, that is the truth. We definitely will be going back. Thank you to the staff, it was a pleasure!
The Lebanese manager was great and friendly with us. Was a great experience
Wow what an amazing place. The food and service was exceptional. I recommend this steakhouse 100% Thanks Houston for a great experience
If you like loud music, bad service, and chewing a steak for 30 min, this is the place to go. While normally a reservation should, as the name says, reserve a table for you, this restaurant redefined it, and you can easily expect to wait 30–40 min before getting seated. Arriving at the food part, the chef has 1 way to cook steak: medium well. It doesn't matter the steak cut or what you asked the waitress—the chef simply ignores you. When my friends and I complained about the steak, the restaurant manager had the audacity to pull out his phone and Google some random steak image and started lecturing us on the food... you read correctly, we sat there, 4 adults, getting lectured that medium rare is actually medium well. Add on top of that loud house music, bad service, waiters ignoring you... you wish you stayed at home and never heard of "Houston Steak House" in your life.
I went to this place for my friends birthday. We were a group of 10, which is obviously not that much but they still found a way to make it complicated and not seat us together? We were expecting a table but were seated at two separate tables where we couldn’t even communicate and had to be separated. When we asked the manager to resolve the issue, he was very aggressive and tried gaslighting us by talking about his personal problems to make us feel bad. Like what?? It was very unprofessional and ruined the experience for us. However, our server was lovely and the food was good, it was just the manager who sucked and for the price we’re paying, we expected a good service.
I made a reservation in advance for my birthday so all my friends could celebrate together, but when we arrived, the manager told us there was no reservation under my name. Instead of trying to fix the situation properly, they split us into two separate tables far from each other. It completely ruined the whole point of the night we couldn’t even talk or enjoy the birthday together, and the atmosphere became really awkward. When we tried to explain that I had definitely reserved, the manager was dismissive and honestly pretty rude. Instead of taking responsibility or helping, he kept insisting it was our fault and made us feel like we were making it up. It felt like we were being gaslighted, which made the situation even more frustrating. We ended up being upset for most of the night, which is the last thing you want on your birthday. The only positive part of the experience was our server, who was kind and did their best to make things better despite the situation. But unfortunately, the manager’s attitude completely overshadowed everything. Overall, really disappointing experience and not somewhere I’d trust for an important event.
Great experience, great music from the DJ on a Saturday night. I wish the ribs came with an extra side, as I only had an addition of fries. I would occasionally feel gusts of cold wind regardless of being seated far from the entrance.
I came here today (April 3rd) for a friend’s birthday dinner and this may have been the absolute most memorable experience I’ve ever had. (Not in a good way). The waitress did not introduce herself, everyone’s order was wrong and we had a “à la carte” settings. It was as if she because she knew because her tip was already included in the service she served us any type of way and did not put any effort in her service. At the end, WE had to ask for our dessert and tea. No utensil were given. Service was POOR and I’ll ensure to inform others of the type of service that is offered here.
Amazing luxury dining experience in Houston. Elegant ambiance, beautifully presented dishes, and outstanding service. Everything felt premium and well thought out. Perfect for a special night out. Highly recommend!
Decent. The Prime rib was ok but wasn't wow. Even with the sauce. I did enjoy the bread bun though
Got the Sunday 4pm-7pm special and it was wonderful. Lots of food at a reasonable price, we left very full. Love the bread!! Thank you!
My favorite restaurant in laval
I called to ask about reserving for a group of 10 and simply wanted to know if the menu was per person or à la carte. The manager answered & was extremely rude. Instead of answering the question, he kept asking why I didn’t want the per-person option and spoke in a mocking tone. When I explained that not everyone in the group wants to pay $65 per person, he continued being sarcastic and mocked the fact that it’s because of “money” instead of just giving the information. Because of how unprofessional and unpleasant the customer service was, I won’t be considering this restaurant for our reservation anymore.
Service and ambiance was 10/10. Unfortunately, food was very overpriced for what it was.
Dont waste your time and money
Nice space. Nice people. The manager was very lovely
everything was good just its abusive the price you pay for what you recieve, me and my husband were still hungry after spending 390 $ doesnt make sense they should do something i dont call that veggie two thinks of brocoli and a small baked potato was really sad... its a ripe off..
