From the moment my husband and I entered, Raja and his team made us feel welcome and cared for. It is hard to be away from our kids for our belated anniversary and the team anticipated our needs and surprised us with a complimentary anniversary delight as well as a tour of their coal-fire kitchen and beguiled us with the story of the founding farming families that the restaurant honours. In short, a remarkable place filled with equally remarkable people and wonderful food! We will bring our children here in future —as well as their grandparents who are watching them who will also value the restaurant’s nod to tradition and elevated cuisine that the whole family will enjoy!

Montreal is sleeping on this restaurant. It's a bit out of the way, but it's more than worth it. My husband Adam and I did the tasting menu and the wine pairing (one of us did the Hoogan, and one of us did the Beaufort). Every dish was perfectly balanced, and the wine pairings were exceptional and so unique. I am pescatarian, and they easily accommodated my needs, despite not giving advanced notice on the reservation. Special shout out to Raja at the bar for making our anniversary meal extra special. His kindness and warmth made us feel right at home, and he has the bar fully under control. From cocktails, to local gin, and Montreal absinthe, he really showed us what the province has to offer. Another shout-out to Laurence for his deep knowledge of wine. It was such a treat to taste wines from lesser known/highlighted regions. This truly is the best restaurant we've tried in Montreal, and we cannot recommend it enough. Thank you so much for the experience -- we can't wait to come back!
The service was fantastic, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, well prepared and presented. The pasta, asparagus and bread were particularly great.
Some aspects were good and some aspects left a lot to be desired. We had a reservation since a month ago for 6pm. We get there and we have to wait for close to half hour to get a table. Not a fantastic good start. Food was good. Nothing bad but nothing spectacular. Appetizers were pretty good though it’s smaller portions compared to other high end restaurants. The culprit that made the experience disappointing is the rib steak or know as cote de boeuf. A chewy mess of 70% tough fat and 30% stretchy meat. With blunt knives….can’t describe how annoying that was. Service was friendly but very slow….excruciatingly slow. It took overall close to 4hours being there. Overall it’s a “good” restaurant but we kept wondering how did they get a Michelin star? Not sure if it was an off day for them or a weird special day for the Michelin inspector- either way they need to up the ante if they want to keep that star. Having travelled around the world trying several Michelin restaurants this one leaves one somewhat disappointed.
Unfortunately, this is one of the few fine dining experiences I was disappointed in and would not repeat. The primary issue was the pacing of the meal. I was a single at the bar with the tasting menu + 1 app and was there more than 3 hours. This was despite arriving on time at opening, getting seated and ordering right away. I waited about 40 minutes for my second course i asked the bar tender if the pacing was off. He said no the pacing is perfect! I was was stunned as they had poured my cold wine more than 15 minutes before that and it had gotten warm. Eventually he said they had gotten busy.... I guess they chose not to cook my food. Even after this the pacing was very very slow. I arrived hungry and the portions are pretty small so it seemed like a really long time until I got much food. The third and fourth courses, which are the substantive ones, were more than 2 hours after I sat. After my main course I asked for my dessert right away or it would have been more than the 3:10 I was there. Again, I'm just one person at the bar. Not a couple asking for a slow-paced meal. They brought me a free appetizer but said it was to thank you for keeping my reservation....? I'm not really sure if it was because of the wait...? I very much appreciate the appetizer but given The price of the meal and the overall experience it was still disappointing. To the good: The staff was fantastic. Every single person who worked there was very nice and very personable. The bartender could not have been a nicer guy. Also the somaliers really explained the pairings very well! The focaccia is amazing. The oysters are great! I enjoyed all of the courses except the dessert which was well and beautifully prepared but just not to my taste, which is fine. As an additional note: it was raining that night. They did not open the doors until exactly 5:30. Several guests were standing in the rain under umbrellas as there is no awning.
Worth the visit. Truly next level service and food. Went in with an allergy, they accommodated
We went for lunch and were very impressed. Creative and well designed menu.
Had supper here for our anniversary on May 15th and we’re still talking about it with friends. Everything was fantastic — the food was incredible... we had the homemade focaccia with whipped butter, the warm oysters, and the beef rib to share (which was absolutely divine). Our server Adam was wonderful... and the sleek, warm decor paired perfectly with the wood-fire cooking atmosphere. Overall such a memorable experience!
Excellent service from our server. The place is nice but nothing unique or special about the decor or pleasant music. Enjoyed the amuse-bouche. Warm oysters was a first for me but it was pretty good. Trout appetizer was perfect. Halibut was a little basic for a main. I did not enjoy the gingerbread, the whole thing tasted like a Christmas cake, not gingerbread. The housetini is basically an espresso martini with some orange. I'm surprised they didn't have/offer a proper cocktail menu. Wine pairings were good and reasonably priced.
Loved it!!! The service was excellent, the veal sweetbread starter was the best dish I've had this year, by far. Everything else was top.
Service was excellent but the food was overly complex. Too many flavours mashed on top on one another. My wife and I couldn't even point to the best part of the meal. We had the tasting for 4. Clearly, a lot of effort goes into each dish. I will say that all the photos in the other reviews look good, but it seems like we were just served an endless procession of tiny dishes with no real focus.
Hoogan et Beaufort left us feeling hungry. Located in a sleek, airy industrial space, the restaurant offers highly professional service, an impressive wine list and artfully executed dishes. Unfortunately, the portions were conspicuously ungenerous — at one point the appetizer consisted of literally a single small piece of joue de veau. Our table of six birthday celebrants left unsatisfied and frustrated after a bill of roughly $175 per person, including taxes, wine and tip. A few guests even felt the need to eat afterwards. We did appreciate the desserts, and a waiter kindly brought extra bread after sensing our portion shock. Despite these touches, the group still left disappointed.
The food was very tasty. The prices of each dish is way to high for the portions served. It’s insulting. I will never go back.
We had been talking about trying Hoogan et Beaufort for years, so we decided to finally book it for a birthday and make a real occasion out of it. Honestly, it was worth the wait. We went with the tasting menu because we wanted the full experience, and it was the right choice. Every plate surprised us in a good way. The flavors were creative but still comforting, and each course felt carefully thought out. It is one of those meals where you slow down and really enjoy every bite. The service made the night even more special. Everyone was warm and genuinely friendly. The sommelier, whose name I unfortunately cannot remember, clearly knows his craft and gave us very personalized wine recommendations that elevated the whole meal. What really touched us was the birthday surprise at the end. We had mentioned it when booking but did not remind them when we arrived, yet they still brought out an extra dessert. It felt thoughtful and elegant without being over the top. I would absolutely recommend it, especially for a special occasion.
Amazing dinner experience. The tasting menu was awesome, cocktails and drinks were the perfect compliment to it. Camilo delivered an astonishing service on top of that. Thanks sir 🥂 My fiancée is expecting and they tailored her experience accordingly, it’s been the perfect night for us !
I can’t believe it was my first time there! The food: to die for. 😮💨 The service: incredible ✨ I highly recommend sitting at the bar. That made it such a fun night. All the staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. Just an unbelievable (Especially on a Monday) experience overall.
The steak was extremely tough and full of excessive fat, to the point where I couldn’t eat most of it. The knife was dull and couldn’t properly cut through the meat. Very disappointing experience.
The food was truly amazing, every dish was well executed and flavorful. The restaurant clearly deserves recognition for its cuisine. However, the service didn’t match the level of the food or the price point. When we arrived, the waiter seemed quite cold toward us, possibly because we were speaking English. We asked for cocktail recommendations and were told the menu changes often, so we should just pick whatever “resonated” with us which wasn’t very helpful. The restaurant has received a Michelin recommendation for its wine list, and the first wine suggested to me was excellent. When I asked for a second wine with my meal, I was brought something I didn’t enjoy. After mentioning it, the waiter brought another glass which turned out to be the exact same first wine he had already served me (I noticed because it was the same bottle). The wine was great, but it would have been nice to see a bit more attention to detail and effort. Overall, the food was good, but the service felt indifferent and not aligned with a nearly $500 experience. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return though I still think the kitchen does a great job.
Wonderful dining experience. Beautifully executed food, warm and attentive service, and a refined yet relaxed atmosphere. It’s easy to see why this restaurant is so special to so many. We truly enjoyed every moment and would happily return.
Top 10 restaurant in Montreal. Exceptional service! Menu is always great!
