Always great food and service is excellent. Pur server today was Mico and he is always friendly and efficient. Our lunch option of choice weekly! It is a great lunch deal actually, but even a la carte for supper is awesome
Super nice place, the food and the people are great! I Mico is awesome!
100% yummy meals and 1000%service .
Always a great experience here! Our go-to and most favourite Japanese BBQ in MTL! Thank you for your service today, Miko!
Amazing experience at Gyu Kaku today. Our waiter Eric was very attentive and always responds to our needs. 10/10 service for sure. Food was delicious as well. The meat was very tender. Very authentic Japanese cuisine. Will definitely return!
It was a first experience for me and my friends here and Eric was absolutely amazing! The service, communication and efficiency from him was great. We had a very pleasant time, thank you so much for your hard work!!
Not visible from outside, but inside, everything is awesome. You got greeted by the entire restaurant. The food is great!
Victor, Jin and especially Reilly are the hottest and sluttiest workers at Gyu Kaku. The service was excellent and the food was perfect. Will definitely come back them, especially Reilly.
Delicious. Walked in off the street, great atmosphere and food is incredible. Staff are very friendly and entertaining
The food was amazing! Big thank you to our server Acesu, who was so kind and patient. We had a great lunch! 100% recommend
Quality of food was obvious; they were delicious. we took the Meat Lovers combo for 2 person with as recommended by Acesu and it was an awesome choice for our 1st eating at Gyu-Kaku Crescent. i’d recommend this place for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. go and try it out!
Always try to stop here when we're around. Delicious, fresh meats and sake.
Worst management ever the managers have attitude problems very rude and arrogant. They need to be trained properly as a service provider they should act with the necessary courtesy and helpful attitude rather than being a complete failure of a management.
It was a really nice, cozy restaurant. The staff was amazing! Alden and the reception guy were really welcoming! 100% recommend
This was a stellar dining experience! Great vibe, friendly wait staff, delicious food throughout.. salad, Miso soup, tasty meats, and delicious Matcha tiramisu for dessert. We will be back next time we are visiting Montreal!
Took my family there for early Easter dinner tonight to have some Japanese BBQ. This is not the first time going but the first time reviewing it. As usual it is a very nice place to have dinner on a romantic date, a nice family dinner or just to have a get together with friends to eat. There is some noise with music coming from the ceiling and the many people eating there. The staff and service is top level. Very polite, helpful and making sure we are doing well and if there is something they can get for us. The food there is always amazing. We ordered some soup(egg soup), had spicy shrimp, spicy roast beef and dumplings. My personal favorite is the shrimp. Then the meat. Angus beef, filet mignon, kalbi and marinated beef along with mushroom medley. The meat is always fresh. Never had any issues with the meat at all. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Terrible service we were late 20 min usually the restraunt didn’t call to confirm and we went all the way there she gave away our table the reception girl asked us to wait, we waited 10 min there were tables empty she said we have to wait another 45min honestly don’t bother to try this branch !
Excellent !
This place is a nice family and friends restaurant. I have been here couple of times and I love it. It gets busy and when I was ordering the waiters were occupied.
We were attended by Liberty and honestly i think that's the sweetest and most authentic waitress i ever got, she made our experience great (also the food was fantastic like wow yummy would go again for sure) 10/10 restaurant with 10/10 staff truly just great
Gyu-Kaku has always been one of my go-to BBQ spots in San Francisco—especially for their unlimited BBQ options. It’s a place I’ve visited countless times with family, and I’ve always loved the experience. So when I found out they had a location in Montreal, I was genuinely excited to try it and even brought along a friend who had never been before. I really wanted him to experience how good it can be. Unfortunately, from the very beginning, the experience felt completely different. The service was noticeably lacking—it took multiple attempts just to get the staff’s attention for basic things, which already set the tone for the evening. I went ahead and ordered my usual favorite items, but the portions here seemed smaller or different compared to what I’m used to in San Francisco. I understand there could be differences in sourcing or pricing, so I was willing to give that the benefit of the doubt. However, what was harder to overlook was the quality of certain cuts—especially the yaki shabu beef. It was so thin and inconsistent that it felt almost like minced meat, and a lot of it kept falling through the grill, making it frustrating to cook and enjoy. On top of that, the grill itself wasn’t functioning properly. The heat distribution was uneven—some parts would burn the meat instantly while others barely cooked it, leaving pieces raw. For a place centered around BBQ, this really impacted the overall experience. It honestly felt like a completely different restaurant compared to the San Francisco locations I’m used to, which was disappointing—especially since I had hyped it up to my friend. If I had to highlight one positive, it would be the lava cake. It was actually better than the one I’ve had in San Francisco—rich, warm, and perfectly done. But realistically, you don’t go to a BBQ restaurant just for dessert. Overall, I’m quite disappointed to say that this visit didn’t live up to my expectations, and it’s not a spot I’d return to in Montreal the way I do back in San Francisco.
Hey owner, why are you asking for a 18% minimum tip? Don't be greedy like that, you are ruining your employees good work by having our dinning experiences end with you breaking the law!
My first time at a Japanese BBQ place. Nice place to share a meal with friends and enjoy the atmosphere. Since there were 4 of use we ordered a dinner for 4. Big mistake. There was way to much food. Even though all the items we had were great, we had to sacrifice some so we could have some green ice-cream for desert. Oh well.
Had a great time! The drinks are great, the food is amazing and you actually get to talk to people while checking your food!
