My first time at a Japanese BBQ place. Nice place to share a meal with friends and enjoy the atmosphere. Since there were 4 of use we ordered a dinner for 4. Big mistake. There was way to much food. Even though all the items we had were great, we had to sacrifice some so we could have some green ice-cream for desert. Oh well.

Had a great time! The drinks are great, the food is amazing and you actually get to talk to people while checking your food!
The lunch option is amazing! The service is often very slow so dont expect a quick lunch. The mega-mug of beer is awesome.
Trying to order from here is impossible. I hate ubereats but no delivery service, and if Im forced to use UE then they arent a member and Im paying huge fees. Either setup a home delivery service or sign up with the platforms!
Great lunch spot! It’s a grill-it-youself concept and makes the whole dining experience fun! They offer a great selection of different meats and the portions were generous for the price. I will definitely go back!
One word: EXCELLENT ! We’ve been to Japan so our standards were high and they didn’t disappoint. We had the combo for two people , everything was delicious, generous and reasonably priced. We’ll be coming back for sure.
Love this place!! Not the same as Gyukaku in Japan but still tasty. We were happy to have Asahi Super Dry. Wished for some of the veggies we could get in Japan but so glad for the enoki!!! The drinks are good and made to order. I was able to ask for less sweet and it was very nice. Everyone was very kind and sweet. Love how they yell out greetings in Japan, very authentic 😊 Last time we were there the music was super loud, this time much more bearable - loud enough to make it a fun atmosphere but not so loud we had to yell. Go if you haven’t!!!
Had the meat package for 2. Excellent food and service
Absolutely excellent, great service, great food, shockingly good prices. Would highly recommend.
Very yummy. Great service.
A Fun First Experience. This was my very first visit to Gyu-Kaku, and it turned out to be such a memorable experience! I was pleasantly surprised to find good vegetarian options on the menu, which made it easy for me to enjoy the meal comfortably. The restaurant was extremely clean, with no lingering food smells at all — something I truly appreciated. The ambience was cheerful and lively, yet still comfortable enough to relax and enjoy the meal. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in.The service was impressively quick. One staff member (I wish I had gotten his name!) was exceptionally knowledgeable. Since it was my first time, he patiently explained the menu and how the DIY grilling works, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciated that they proactively asked about seafood allergies — very thoughtful and responsible. The DIY grilling was genuinely fun — interactive, engaging, and a great way to enjoy the meal. They offered forks as as well, along with chopsticks.I ordered veggie spring rolls, broccoli, seasoned cucumber (was very tasty and flavorful), zucchini and cheese wantons. My friends ordered seasoned shrimp and chicken. For dessert it was chocolate lava ice cream and strawberry mochi .On a side note, I later realized that seafood allergies can sometimes be triggered even by fumes, as shrimp release tropomyosin, which can cause allergic reactions and I ended up with a slight one towards the evening.Overall, a wonderful first experience with great service, cleanliness, and a lively atmosphere.
Amazing food et service! Great place to bring a date/friend/family!!Definitely recommend!
Food was excellent but pricier compared to other Japanese BBQ which was unlimited. Coming in I really thought it was à volonté since I would pay the same price from other places with much more varieties. But food was good, overall. I initially thought I wouldn't get full so that kind of worried me for the price I was paying 😂
What is most notable to me is the excellent service! Our waitress was very attentive to detail and took a good amount of time to explain the menu, which was 100% needed as a person unfamilliar with the concept. The entire staff welcomes you and thanks you for your patronage, which adds to the exprience. Music choice was mostly pop rap (a lot of kendrick lamar when I went) and a tad loud, outherwise no notes. Will révision for sure!
Great place food delicious
I love this place so much. I’ve been a frequent customer for years and I genuinely think nothing tops it. I’ve tried pretty much every Korean BBQ spot, and this one is by far the best. The food is consistently amazing, the experience is always fun, and the quality never disappoints. We seriously need more good restaurants in downtown Montreal because there really aren’t any. Always a go to for me, and every person I’ve put onto this place says the same thing.
The food was amazing and the service was excellent. The combo for four people was the perfect amount, just enough to be satisfied. We also added a bottle of excellent sake and some outstanding wagyu beef. Great experience! 100% recommand this place!
The Montreal Gyu-Kaku location is a 10/10 dining experience. Comfortable seating, polite waiters, fantastic beef/pork quality, and welcoming interior. I would recommend dining in for the lunch menu; It’s the most sufficient money-wise and you receive more than enough food.
We came as a group of six and very disappointed. Six people all for one small grill and the hostess told us we have exactly 2h and then must leave. It was very rushed. Very rude hostess. Even worse we had a new waiter that was terrible, never came to check on us or refill water after dumping all the dishes right at the beginning on our table. Incredibly disappointing experience.
Very good
Loves the place. Meat was top notch, staff friendly and vibe immaculate. Would 100% go again.
Best service ever! You get tea and water the moment you sit down. Got the lunch special for ~16 and it had miso soup, rice, salad plus two meats of your choice. This is a crazy deal.
The food great but,The drinks here stole the show. They were absolutely amazing. My wife got the Soju Deep blue. I had the plain Soju version and loved.
The food was mediocre and extremely overpriced. The wait staff were fine; I have no complaints about them. We booked for a group of 15 and were seated at two separate tables, so we missed out on the communal feeling we had been hoping for. We paid 150$ for two people, and it was totally not worth it.
Host liberty best host super friendly amazing Service always on point
