It's truly in the details. You get a 5* experience from food to service without breaking bank thanks to the small attention that make it feel special. The windbreaker curtain to avoid drafts, the "coat service", the replacement of utensils... Small things that don't mean much alone but compound when added together. Didn't feel like we were bothering anyone even when we asked for things from someone who wasn't our dedicated server. Again, simple things but all together made it a great night out for tired parents on Saint-Valentine. We had the foie gras to share, steak poivre and scallops. All excellent and cooked perfectly. I was suggested an excellent wine pairing for my scallops and the spicy margarita had a strong kick! Generous portions so we did not have space for desert. Can't wait to return to try the rest!

Had a very warm ambience. Did not expect at all but it is actually great for families. We had an early 4:30 pm reservation and lots of families with young kids at that time. It felt nice for parents to be able to go out and not feel rushed. Food was good too. My son never finishes resto food but he 99% finished the huge burger. Highly recommend the chocolate cake as well; rich and decadent.
I’ll keep this review brief because it truly doesn’t need many words: I’ve been really lucky to travel close to 4 million miles in my life and eat at some of the best restaurants in the world’s best food cities. Grille-Nature is ABSOLUTELY in that company. Period.
Incredible food & service I was served bye Noémie and it went flawlessly Warm room and an all star kitchen staff I highly recommend 🔥
Casual vibe, elevated but unpretentious for food and service.
Incredible staff, great vibe, great food, generous portions. Perfect restaurant!
Our new favourite restaurant! Everything was perfect...the service, the vibe, the food. Cant wait to try more plates next week!!
With two chefs that need no introduction to the Montreal food scene, it should come as no surprise that Grille-Nature offers some delicious food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service. Seeing Chef McMillan walking around and talking it up with everyone was a highlight. I'll have to ask him to autograph my Bourdain cookbook next time. Excited to have this place in the west island.
Excellent meal last night at Grill-Nature . The food as expected was very good ! The service and the atmosphere was old school comfortable, they make you feel so welcome !! The chocolate cake was insane !
Incredible experience, the food was a party in your mouth, our waitress Noemie was excellent as well as all the other staff member that showed incredible care and attention to our satisfaction, thank you. I will be back
Best in the West! Can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend getting dishes to share. The tall salad was so refreshing. Calamari was tender, perfectly cooked. Flavourful carpaccio. Intensely beefy steak. Delicious umami fries. Perfectly balanced spicy margarita. Generous sundae. This cuisine is straight-forward, perfectly executed, focused on the joy of eating. The menu is a mix of classics with some eclectic additions (hot avocado in escabèche, anyone?)
Ate here this past weekend with my husband and toddler and it was fantastic. Every bite of food was better than the last and the service was top notch. Cannot reccomend this restaurant enough.
As a fan of Chef Derek Dammann and Maison Publique, I had very high expectations for this new spot. Unfortunately, despite the hype, it was one of the most disappointing steak experiences I’ve had in Montreal. The space feels similar to a refined McKiernan, industrial and modern but the ambiance was thrown off by three TVs over the bar blasting football. For the price point and the open-concept style, it felt out of place and cheapened the atmosphere. Service started well with a nice hostess, but things went downhill. We waited 45 minutes for our starters. The Caesar salad was unremarkable with scarce bacon and parmesan. Worse, the bread (which isn't complimentary) arrived late and ice cold with hard, unspreadable butter. We also had to ask for wine by the glass because it wasn't on the menu; the server brought bottles to the table with no price transparency, eventually suggesting glasses that turned out to be $17 each. But the main disappointment was the steak. We skipped appetizers to save room for the meat, which was a mistake. I ordered the $110 Australian Wagyu Delmonico special.I was told it was "Chef's choice" for temperature, but what I got was a disaster. The portion was massive (honestly, too big for one person), but the cut was absurdly thick, over 3 inches. Because of this thickness, the cook was terrible. It had an inch of dry, well-done gray band on top, while the bottom was completely blue, cold, and unrendered. For a Wagyu cut, you need a better cook to render the fat, but this was chewy and unseasoned inside. To make matters worse, both my steak and my partner's fillet were served in a pool of overwhelming, salty, HP-style sauce that completely masked the taste of the meat. Between the bad cook, the cold interior, and the heavy sauce, I struggled to finish even half. We ordered fries on the side, but they were oily and lacked crunch. The dessert sundae was good, but overall, for a restaurant of this caliber and price, the execution was shocking. I’ve eaten steaks all over the world (US, Japan, Spain), and this was a major letdown.
Amazing food, amazing staff. Dave is a gem. Can't wait to go back!
Been a fan and patron of previous institutions of the chef owners, so the bar was high. Unfortunately, expectations were not met at this price point and left somewhat disappointed. Big misses were the $18 mushrooms (minimal portion served amateurish, wrapped aluminum foil cut open at the table), $110 16oz Australian Wagyu (too much fat and random one thin slice of brisket on top with mustard drizzle was puzzling) and $8 soft serve vanilla (lacked flavor, creativity, presented plain and tasted like a fast food dollar cone). Hits included good fries, excellent chopped salad, and classic slice of chocolate cake. Other dishes sampled were average. I feel if these renowned owners were presented these dishes at this price point, they would have similar criticism. I would have brought up some of the concerns if they had passed by, but they seemed preoccupied at the bar for most of the night. If you are grading this place on an average meal out in the West Island with free parking and a diverse, albeit pricey menu and ok service, it might be worth a try and the extra stars. However, unless they improve the fixable menu issues, not worth the detour and would prefer other local establishments.
Best restaurant in Montreal. I cannot believe a restaurant only a couple months old is this good. I knew it would be good when I heard David McMillan and Derek Dammann were at the helm, but it’s even exceeded my expectations, by a lot. Food - every dish is incredible. Unique, adventurous, and delicious. Service - friendly, welcoming, sharp. Attention to detail very noticeable, and this is only 2 months in. Drinks - a multitude of options. Great wine list, great beer list, incredible cocktails. Ambiance - warm and welcoming. See for yourself. An extremely talented team and they are only going to get better. Selfishly, I do not want to tell anyone about this place, but it’s so good I can’t not leave a review. Go try it for yourself, you’ll see.
A+ across the board.
Great food and ambience! We really enjoyed our night out at Grille Nature. Friendly staff, good atmosphere. Highly recommended!
The world is a better place now that those honey ginger shrimps exist 🤤 Everything we ordered was delicious but the shrimps brought me back to life 😅
What an well thought out environment. Everything is understated and you feel like you've walked into a friend or family's kitchen to grab a meal. The service was excellent. We didn't ever need to flag anyone down and the staff clearly knew the menu well. Other establishments could learn from this staff. Food was nothing short of amazing. The scallops we perfectly cooked, their chalkboard items we're mouth watering and their twist on something as simple as french fries we're already one of the many reasons I will be coming back.
Absolutely beautiful experience. We will be back no doubt. David and Derek made us feel absolutely welcomed and you can just tell how invested they are in this project. The food was beautiful. Everything works well. We ordered 3 entrees and 3 mains plus dessert. It was ambitious but this is a hard menu to choose from. The Scallops, Sausage and Ribs were all amazing. The avocado Entree is absolutely stunning and delicious. There is nothing like this in the West Island and we thank you for it!
Chicken soup, shrimp tostada and tall salad were phenomenal.
Grille-Nature is a wonderful addition to the West Island. A fresh and vibrant restaurant with great service and fantastic food. My wife and i shared a salad that tasted like it just came from the garden. My main dish was a 12oz beef filet with a side of french fries and my wife had a 16oz steak with a baked potato, absolutely mouth watering. A definite must try.
Absolutely amazing new gem in the West Island! The service and food was exceptional. Great balanced menu across the board. Fresh local farm to table food. It’s beautiful to have access to quality downtown dining in the west and not have to worry about parking. I highly recommend everyone to give this place a try and judge for yourselves. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Grille Nature 🙂
Thrilled to have a restaurant of this calliber on the West Island!! Thank you Regan for your great service and menu suggestions. We were SUPER surprised at how good the Argentinian white wine was. From the amazing bread n butter to the sundae dessert - *chef's kiss* ! Husband had the beef carpaccio (we ended up sharing- wow) and the scallops. I had the appy shrimp (honey ginger) and a gigantic salad - refreshing!!!! We will surely be back! 😀
