Reviews / Ratings for Ekki Sushi Tremblant at Bel Air Resort
It's hard to find better Sushi this side of the country and the place has a great vibe. Definitely one of the best if not the best restaurant in Tremblant, worth the trip out of the village.
The best sushi in Mont-Tremblant, Specifically we could watch how the chef Merty and co chef Jian prepared our food, so wonderful both of them has artistic sense to present the food not just a delicious but also beautiful to look at it.
Incredible, delicious, refined and original Japanese food and sushi.
Best chief Chef Mertz and chief Jian
A great place to eat while in Tremblant. Great vegetarian options.
The steak came out underdone, but was quickly refired. The meal was delicious and beautifully presented. A truly unique mountain side Japanese experience.
I really wanted to love Ekki Sushi because the aesthetics are great and our server was wonderful—very attentive and constantly checking in on us. The Tuna Tataki was a high point and the fish quality seemed decent, but unfortunately, everything else went downhill from there. We waited over 1 hour and 20 minutes for our sushi. When it finally arrived, the rice was cold, clumpy, and completely lacked the seasoning of rice vinegar. It was topped with white, popcorn-like speckles (Bubu Arare) that I really wasn't a fan of. The ramen, however, was a complete joke for $30. I’ve had everything from $1 grocery store cup noodles to authentic bowls in Japan, and this was arguably worse. The broth was watery, there was barely any meat, and the noodles were clumped together. I am genuinely curious if this was just a bad night in the kitchen or if the food is simply catered toward a local palate that isn't looking for authenticity. As an Asian person who has eaten in Japan many times, I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for quality sushi or ramen.
I had booked a dinner for New Year’s with friends a month in advance. Our reservation was for 5:30 p.m., and we arrived about 12 minutes late due to a Waze detour. From the moment we walked in, the host’s attitude was unwelcoming. We said Hi and gave our name for the reservation. The first thing she said was, “You’re 15 minutes late, and because this is PREMIUM sushi, you have to order everything at once since the table is reserved for a second seating at 7:15.” While the delivery was abrupt, we agreed without issue. Shortly after seating us, she returned and asked us to move to the bar to sit facing a wall. I politely declined, explaining that if we had wanted bar seating, we would have reserved it. Only later did we find out that she was the manager, which made the interaction even more disappointing. For a restaurant positioning itself as “premium,” the customer service was anything but. The food was good, but the evening and experience was overshadowed by poor communication, lack of courtesy, and an overall dismissive attitude. Unfortunately, this is not the level of hospitality I would expect, especially on New Year’s Eve and it left a sour impression on what should have been a special evening. For this reason I won’t be recommending Ekki Sushi Bel Air Tremblant to any of our friends or family in the future when they come up to visit.
Amazing meal and service :) will be back for sure
The fish itself is not bad, they seem to ship it in from Japan twice a week. That is about all I can say about this restaurant in terms of authenticity. Their wait times are crazy. Their service is horrible, the portions are tiny and the price is sky high. It can all be forgiven if their food is top notch -- Unfortunately it is not it is the complete opposite they deluded themselves into believing they are some kind of high end Michelin level sushi restaurant. Don't fall for the delusion. 1. They do not know how to make sushi rice at all it is clumpy and the flavour as well as the texture is not good and ruins the sushi. 2. I will absolutely NOT recommend the ramen. It is an atrocity I have had better ramen from a convenience store. If you've been to any ramen place I guarantee you it is better than what Ekki sushi makes. The noodles clump up and the broth is some premade slop. 3. They use weird ingredients in their sushi to look fancy? One example is rice cracker puffs that surround some of the Maki. It is dry, chewy and not fresh completely ruining the texture. If you've had sushi at a similar price point in Toronto or an other big city the the world. This place will disappoint. The online review ratings are high simply because there is no competition here. You will be disappointed if you expect this to be a high end sushi restaurant.
Looks good and that’s about all the good I have to say about this place. Food takes 1hr and a half to get to your table which is insane, and what comes out the kitchen is not at all worth the wait or price. The fish is okay but the rice is terribly done, and the service is needlessly handholding - we’re already waiting so long for the food and we have to wait for them to pour soy sauce into everyone’s dish. Do not order the ramen, the noodles are clumped together and the broth provided isn’t ramen broth, it’s some kind of lacklustre mass produced soup base. Skip this if you’re thinking of booking in advance.
Small, tight place, mismanaged. Reserved a table weeks in advance, arrived on time and they didn't a table in sight for us.
