Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Shout out to Michael, Fred, Max and Louie for taking such great care of me!! I am already looking forward to my return visit. The food is so fresh and tasty. I had one of the best Caesar salads ever and followed that with the Icelandic cod special that was over the top delicious! Sincere thanks to the entire Marcella team!!
Was visiting Montreal for a bachelorette and we had the pleasure of being served by Sandy! She was so lovely, had excellent knowledge of everything on the menu and was a fun addition to our night!!
Absolutely delicious!
Sandy was so fabulous. Was so attentive, friendly and amazing! Made the experience 10/10. Highly would recommend!
Such a cute restaurant! The food was amazing, & the vibe is so cozy. Our server Sandy was the absolute best! She was so attentive & helpful. Everyone is so sweet!! Definitely recommend (:
What a charm!! The food excellent, simple and not over the top!! You are well looked after at this restaurant 💗
What a great spot! The staff were fantastic and very sweet. The food was excellent - highly recommend the tuna credo - it was amazing! Great small intimate restaurant with an incredible vibe!
This place is phenomenal I absolutely loved the ambiance and overall scenery of the restaurant on first glance. We came pretty late as they were near closing, but they were still very attentive in getting us our food and the waiter was very kind and helpful. I ordered the Cavatelli Alla Pesto and the pasta was perfectly cooked and I loved the balance of the crispy pine nuts and the tomatoes added so much flavor. I also got the focaccia which was delicious as well. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Canada!
So glad we stopped by for a quick bite while in the city. It was delicious. The staff was great! And they seemed to tolerate my daughter's unique pasta eating style.
Beautiful place, amazing food, super friendly staff 👌👌
I was disappointed in the food. Unfortunate.
Came here for lunch and was in a bit of a rush. The waitress took our order promptly and we had asked for everything to come out as it's cooked so we didn't waste time. I swear we ate within 15mins of seating, the food was so fresh, delicious and well prepared. The app we ordered was the calamari, which I feel is always a good option, not too heavy and not too oily. We ordered the rosé tortellini stuffed with Italian sausage and ricotta, which I believe has a slice of smoked caciocavallo on the top as a garnish, a tasty combination for sure! My fav dish, would come back just for this. The other main we ordered was the carbonara, added some freshly grated Parmesan on top and it was perfect, maybe a bit too much on our end haha but always a great dish. Lastly was the tiramisu, which we saw was prepared on a massive sheet pan and divided up for guests. This one in particular, had chocolate chips on top which I've never had, wasn't too bad but could do without haha. We came here during the week around lunch and it was not busy, definitely nice if you're visiting or have a day off. Will definitely come again!
We had a reservation at the bar as there were no tables left within 90 minutes of our preferred time. Unfortunately, our seats were the two directly in front of the bartender and it wasn’t ideal. Our server had to talk to us from the side since he couldn’t stand in front and the bartender was busy so it was constant drinks being prepared right in front of us. Our bottle of water (that the waiter placed down) was apparently in the bartender’s way so he moved it directly between our two plates? It was all just a bit weird and awkward. I would recommend the restaurant not make those two seats a place for eating. There were lots of other seats at the bar which looked fine, just these two kinda spoil the atmosphere. Food was good, the Bailey’s pudding for dessert was yummy.
Bruschetta is a must try! Also loved the Negroni and the pesto pasta. The window seats are especially lovely.
Could have easily received 4 stars BUT… I debated whether to leave a review, but ultimately I hope this feedback can help the restaurant improve situations like this. Service was good from front of house to our server and the assisting staff. The appetizers were good, but unfortunately the mains were a bit disappointing. My fiancé ordered a pasta with duck and the duck was noticeably overcooked. Now THIS is where they lost points for me. We were seated at the end of the bar, which I normally enjoy. However, there was a group of about 6–8 people gathered in the corner next to us who clearly appeared to be friends of management or staff. Throughout the evening, two of the men from that group were literally standing inches from where I was sitting, drinking their beers while I was trying to eat. Their beers were basically within elbow reach of my plate. It felt uncomfortable and intrusive. I mean… this isn’t a pub, it’s an Italian restaurant in the Old Port. There were also two loud, obnoxious girls entertaining an older man the entire evening. Super loud and distracting. At one point I honestly thought, did I accidentally choose a bar instead of a somewhat fine-dining dinner? Anyway, when it was time to leave, our coats had been hung in that same corner where everyone was standing. I had to squeeze through the group to retrieve them and asked politely for a bit of space. No one moved. I honestly felt like I had to force my way through while apologizing. As I was trying to make my way out with the coats, one of the girls actually put her hand on my back and pushed me along to move me out of the way, with a passive-aggressive smile when I turned around. I was honestly shocked. If our friend visiting from another country hadn’t been with us, I probably would have addressed it in the moment, but I chose to keep my composure and just leave. For a restaurant at this price point in Old Montreal — and a $300+ bill — the atmosphere and guest experience should match the quality and cost of the food. That moment alone made the evening feel more like a crowded pub than a higher-end dining experience. My intention in sharing this is simply to highlight how important it is that paying guests feel comfortable and prioritized, even when friends of the restaurant are present. I have friends who work in hospitality and they would never allow their group of friends to get in the way of service or the experience of paying customers. Maybe we caught the restaurant on an off night (Friday the 13th lol), but the overall experience could easily be much stronger with better management of the bar area.
Awesome vibe, delicious food and great staff.
A classy restaurant in Old Montreal. We had made a reservation 3 weeks in advance so that just tells you how much we were looking forward to it. The night dinner was great. We had 4 different dishes. 2 small and 2 main meals. I love pasta and I approve this place. We skipped dessert but we had some wine and it was nice. The atmosphere was classy and the staff was friendly.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had an incredible experience at Dinette Marcella in Old Port Montreal. The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived, and the atmosphere was warm, lively, and perfect for a night out. Every dish we tried was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. If you're in Montreal and looking for a great place to eat in the Old Port, I highly recommend Dinette Marcella. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!
Not good
FIVE STAR Italian restaurant right here. We ordered a lot and it was all fantastic. The ossobuco and tortellini alla ricotta... heaven; the meats are tender, sauces perfectly balanced and flavours exquisite. I also couldn't believe how good the "Budina con Bailey's" was. If you're gonna have dessert, that's the one you gotta have. I'd be here all day if I were to describe everything we ate but it tasted perfect, honestly. THIS is cooking with care. I'd also like to give a huge thanks to our waiter, Michael. Great energy, knowledgeable and amazing service. He honestly made our time that much more enjoyable.
The food was amazing, far exceeded our expectations! The service was fantastic too! Highly recommend.
The presentation of the food was nice. It was crowded quite loud for 10:30 in the night. The food was mediocre. Honestly, It’s not the worst place, but it’s definitely not what other reviewers have said about it.
Everything wass good
Great food and staff. We were very lucky and got in without a reservation but it is very busy so make sure you book! We had the Torellini alla Ricotta and the Carbonara and both were really good. We also had the Tiramisu for dessert which was very good and a large portion!
