My wife and I ate at Casavant while visiting Montreal this weekend and had an all around lovely experience. We were definitely the only non-Francophones in attendance but all staff from the owners to servers were so kind and helpful. They helped us through the wine list and we ended up with a perfect bottle. We shared the scallops, beef tartar, duck and seabass. All four dishes were incredible, but the scallops were a favourite. One of the owners made us a list of other restaurants, bars and sites to see when he found out it was our first time in Montreal. All around great experience and would highly recommend.

What a wonderful place - staff was warm and welcoming, and let me have small tastes of a lot their wine. Bartender guided me to exactly what I wanted. The scallop and sea bass dishes were divine.
Nice Little resto. Best scallops I've ever had. Tasting menu at 75$ is a very good way to discover the restaurant if it's your first time. They also had a dinner reasonably priced wines, within context. I can't wait to go back.
They don’t do restaurants like this anymore. The service was excellent, every ingredient was fresh. Best beef tartar I’ve ever tasted. Would definitely recommend, and would definitely go back

I have dined at 2 star Michelin restaurants and was intrigued that Casavant had a 4.8 rating. I attempted a few weeks ago to get a reservation and was a no-go. With Montreal's economy quickly falling apart and many other establishments now empty, why was this place still difficult to get a reservation at? Finally I booked a table tonight for 5:30. A little earlier than I like, nonetheless, I was intrigued. We ordered oysters to start, it was very good. I ordered the short ribs and my SO ordered the fish. Coincidentally last night I saw a video which turned out to be AI of someone cutting into the juiciest prime rib with nothing but a fork. Little did I know that I would have this experience in real life. The short ribs were stupendous, and that's not a term that I use lightly. Perfectly prepared, melt in your mouth. It was ecstasy in the form of meat. I will be back. I would like to compliment the chefs, it was a meal worthy of comment.
Amazing food service and vibe
A restaurant worth returning to. Menu is focused but compelling and it takes constraint, when dining for two, to select 4-5 dishes to share because all are appealing. Every bite was perfectly balanced and pleasantly rich — with clear care in both conception and execution. The kitchen should be proud. Service was friendly and relaxed, perfectly matched to the space. As a visitor, this is exactly the type of restaurant I wish I had in my home city.
