Absolutely loved Casavant! The flavors were incredible, and every dish was creative, thoughtful, and full of surprises. Such an exciting and memorable dining experience, easily one of the best restaurants in Montreal. The service was impeccable, and everything flowed seamlessly throughout the evening. My only minor criticism is that the portions were a little small, but overall, an outstanding experience. Highly recommend!

We loved it. The best meal we had in Montreal on our recent trip. We shared 6 dishes and they were all bangers - whether veggies, fish or meat, all were creative and packed with flavour. Think modern and French adjacent but not pedantic to tradition. Definitely worth a visit.

In a neighborhood where the restaurant bar is incredibly high, this place clearly stands out. The small-plate style menu is inventive without being showy. I've been many times and they always find ways to change things up and keep me discovering. *Perfect* spot for an after-show snack, given their kitchen is open late - not uncommon to see people sit down to eat at 10:30PM! 5 stars, no notes.

My husband and I came here for my birthday recently, and we enjoyed every bite, sip and moment we had over our 3-hour dining experience. Since it was my birthday, my sister had called the restaurant beforehand to send a nice bottle to our table. She mentioned that talking to them on the phone was great and Claire's recommendation for champagne was amazing. Odrade took us through the menu and her recommendations were outstanding. Overall Casavant did not miss a mark, the food, wine list, recommendations and service were outstanding. They're everything that's right in Montreal's dining scene. Would recommend to anyone!

We wanted an early light dinner and boy did we find the right place. You know when a restaurant has a limited menu each dish has to be really good. Well, each dish was really good. What a wonderful place for dinner with your partner.

My wife and I have brought family to Casavant a couple of times, and our two visits were noticeably different. The first was pure magic. The freshness, flavours and execution were exceptional. We ordered almost the entire menu to share, and dishes arrived from the kitchen at exactly the right pace. The staff anticipated everything without us needing to ask, and it was easy to understand why Casavant has received Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition twice. Our second visit was less polished. The food still had the same magic, but the service lagged badly. Dishes arrived haphazardly, the table was rarely cleared, and we had to ask for things that had been handled automatically the first time. The restaurant was busy, but at over $500 for our table and with Michelin recognition, expectations are naturally high. We will absolutely return because the food remains exceptional. Hopefully the service next time is much closer to that first experience. I’ll update this review after our next visit.

Excellent Dinner. Was a tame Sunday night and ate at the bar. The scallops dish with cruncy chorizo was fantastic. Halibut was wonderful as well. Great wine selection. Absolutely worth a visit and I would return in a heartbeat

One of the best restaurants in Montreal. Lobster paccheri is amazing, please never take it off the menu. The sauce that came with the flétan & palourdes was out of this world (rich creamy white wine sauce) along with the wine recommendations given to us by our server. Didn’t have the chance to try the dessert but hopefully i’ll be back…

Amazing food, superb service. Went on Thursday (the 3rd of September)for lunch and hands down one of the best meal I've had in a long while, forgot to take a photo of the menu but here are some photos of the dishes I've tried! Would love to remember what they were called. The oyster was nice but just not quite my favourite. The trout dish was exceptional but I forgot what the purée was, it was cooked to perfection and the balance of flavor and texture in that dish was a 10/10.

Best meal that we had on our trip. The dishes were delicious, attentive and purposeful. The layers and flavors were created with an eye and taste to the season and the ingredients used—nothing gimmicky, just delicious treats with every bite. Congratulations on accomplishing what so many other restaurants try, and doing it without obvious effort or pretense. We wish you were in NYC where we could visit you weekly!

Casavant is an absolute 5/5. The sea bass (Bar à la grenobloise) was so unbelievably good that it instantly went into my top three dishes of all time. It was incredibly bright, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor, complete with crisp croutons and lemon zest that brought everything together. I also tried the fresh scallops (Pétoncles frais with chorizo), which were equally fantastic, beautifully presented, and well-balanced. Both plates that hit the table were thoughtful, precise, and delicious. An exceptional spot in Montreal that I would go back to in a heartbeat. As of August 26, 2026 there was a lot of construction around the restaurant so getting there is a pain but well worth it.

I loved my experience at Casavant! I went with my family for my mother's birthday. The food was amazing (paccheri neri with lobster, halibut, steak, scallops) !!! We each had our individual portions, and I had more than enough. It's not one of those French restaurants where the portions are barely kid-size, thankfully! Also, I would say, the price is worth it. The service itself is super nice as well ; the waiters are proactive, attentive, casually friendly. We all felt at ease there. I made the reservation a month in advance (they actually open it one month in advance), and it was all booked when we came. So, reservation recommended. I don't know if they save spots for walk-ins... It's a small restaurant. Ambiance-wise, it's casual, you can hear each other talk, unpretentious. Right now, there are street constructions right in front, so the parking can be difficult, and the street view isn't cute. However, I didn't mind. I would definitely come back, and I recommend it!

Every dish was amazing and inventive but the stand out was the ratatouille, a signature dish according to our waitress. If you had ratatouille before and you’re not a fan, this dish will change your mind. I would come back to Casavant just for this dish. Cozy dining room like many restaurants in Montreal, friendly staff and a relaxed vibe.
