After a long day of exploring Montreal, Capisco turned out to be exactly what I needed to wind down and end the night on a perfect note. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, just the kind of place where you can sit back, breathe a little, and enjoy the moment. Our bartender, Alex was so kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience feel even more comfortable. You could tell the staff really cared about creating a good experience, not just serving food. Food was excellent. Simple, satisfying, and exactly what I was hoping for to wrap up the night. Overall, Capisco felt like one of those places you’re glad you found. If you’re looking for a pleasant, low-key spot to chill after a full day in Montreal or to end your evening on a good note, this is definitely worth stopping by.

I was having a big expectation from this place since the owner is the same of chifa and Tiradito which the two of them are amazing. But this place was ok the tiradito capresse was our favorite with ordered twice . The ceviche was also really good and the lomo saltado to share is nice. The tiramisu was ok nothing extraordinary. The cocktail I got was good. I guess the only comment about it was the service or I mean the lack of it. You can totally tell that the waitress didnt like her job. I mean I work in the same industry and I know sometimes you can have one of those days but she really didn’t even try it. To me service is 80% of the tip and when they are expecting 22% of tip with that kind of attitude no way. I guess old port service is really something. Ps the place was not even full when we arrived it was like two or three tables more
Went here with some girlfriends as we were staying in the old port on a girls trip. The reviews were enticing and the menu sounded appetizing. We ordered the capelletti aji de gallina, the pesto and chorizo pasta, the aji carbonara and the frito mixto. The food was nothing to write home about, the capelletti has 4 pieces of ravioli, the frito mixto was something you can expect at a fish and chips restaurant - sans the chips and the carbonara and chorizo pasta lacked flavour. We had some drinks and some dessert and felt that they overcompensated with adding too much sugar to try to make things tasty. I would not recommend this spot.
Capisco is a hole in the wall in old town Montreal, my girlfriend and I went in on a Wednesday and wasn’t sure what to expect. Reading the reviews some people in the past were worried about the limited menu but we decided to give it a try. We are extremely happy we did, the food was exceptional and our server was genuine and very personable. It was very empty and my girlfriend and I were very surprised considering how good the food and atmosphere was. The scallops were to die for and their wine menu was extensive for a small restaurant. Overall, it was a fantastic date night and we don’t regret it one bit.
Really fantastic food, and while sadly the house pisco was out when I visited the cocktails were also wonderful.
The food was unique and absolutely delicious, with a distinct point of view that really stood out. The atmosphere and decor were beautifully executed—thoughtful, original, and very tasteful. The only small note would be the lighting, which could be slightly warmer to enhance the overall ambiance.
Have nothing but glowing things to say about this place after stumbling upon it during a short work trip. Drinks were excellent, as was the food. Ambience was really great as well. Almost went here a second night in a row. Didn't, and regretted it. Will be coming back next time I'm in Montreal.
If you haven't tried peruvian cuisine and specially fusion with Italian . Its a must try spot ! Personally I loved everything about this place The ambience, the food and the service is always great The staff is very kind and polite The cocktails are top notch . I warmly suggest it to anyone
Capisco's food is a 'must-try'! While the food and service were stellar, sadly, the atmosphere, an integral part of the dining experience that many restaurants overlook, was lacking. Capisco's setup is more reminiscent of a coffee shop than of a high-end restaurant; don't expect any privacy.
We were really looking forward to spending Valentine’s Day at this restaurant, given its high rating and generally positive reviews (I chose to overlook the negative ones, assuming some were exaggerated). Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. We arrived with a reservation, and the restaurant was almost empty. I had specifically requested a booth, but we were seated at an uncomfortable table with constant cold drafts. When I asked if we could move to one of the many empty booths, I was told no since apparently they were all reserved. Shortly after I asked the question (very politely), I saw our waitress roll her eyes and complain about us to another staff member. At that point, I wanted to leave, but we decided to stay not to ruin the evening. We remained polite and cordial throughout the meal, and while the waitress was fine with us afterward, the interaction left a sour impression. As for the food: the entrée was quite good, the main dish lacked flavor, and the dessert was just okay. The drinks were enjoyable. What made this even more frustrating is that three booths remained empty for the entire duration of our visit. We easily could have been seated at one of them, which likely would have improved our overall experience and impression of the establishment. This visit was a reminder that customer service truly makes or breaks a dining experience. We won’t be returning, and we’ll be advising friends and family to avoid this establishment. There are far better options in Old Port. Overall: very overpriced, mediocre food, and poor customer service.
Came here for MTL à la Table and tried their table d’hôte, which was offered at a very reasonable price. The food was excellent, with the sandwich being the standout—absolutely delicious and packed with flavour. The restaurant itself is such a charming little spot, cozy and inviting, and I was genuinely surprised by how generous the portions were for the price. It felt like great value all around. I would honestly come back just for that sandwich alone and can’t wait to return!
I wish I could give this restaurant a higher rating. Unfortunately, our first visit on New Year’s Eve was disappointing. We waited quite a long time before anyone came to take our order, and the service felt a bit disorganized with different servers coming to our table. We were told that two of the main highlights of the special menu were already unavailable: the pulpo as an appetizer and the arroz con mariscos as a main. Our reservation was at 8:30 p.m., so it was frustrating that these signature dishes were already sold out, especially knowing the restaurant was fully booked and offering a limited New Year’s menu. The waitress was kind and apologetic, and management tried to offer a tiradito instead of the main dish, but as this is normally an appetizer and much less expensive, it did not feel like an equivalent replacement. They also offered us a shot at the end, which was appreciated, though it was something many guests received due to the occasion. That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the food we did have was delicious. We especially enjoyed the pork carpaccio and the braised lomo saltado. While the prices are quite high for the portions, this is understandable given the location in Old Port. Overall, it’s a lovely place with great potential, but better planning and organization on busy nights like New Year’s Eve would make a big difference in the experience.
Absolutely loved my experience at Capisco in Old Port! The food was outstanding — rich, authentic Peruvian flavours that truly stand out. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with taste. The service was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere is cozy and vibrant, perfect for a night out or a special meal. If you’re looking for high-quality Peruvian cuisine in Old Montreal, this place is a must-try. I’ll definitely be back!
Shrimp causa was delicious. Octopus was gorgeous but could have had more flavour. My italian friend loved the focaccia but I just found it alright. Fried seafood was great. My two cocktails were pretty good. Excellent service. Nice design.
10/10 experience. We loved the food, drinks and the staff. I would highly recommend the aji gallina and the caprese. We sat at the bar and our experience was made by our great bartender. Couldn’t recommend enough if you’re looking for a great date night spot
Great little spot. Excellent service. We ordered a bunch of items on the menu. Most of them tasted great. Drinks were good too! I would go again. Lasagne was super good. Ceviche was amazing as well.
Hands down, one of the best all-around meals and now one of my favorites restaurants. Ordered the amor y fresca drink, homemade focaccia, fritto mixto - all of which were equally amazing. But the star of the show was the brisket lomo saltado - it was absolutely, out of this world. I would absolutely come back and recommend to anyone visiting!
