A lovely spot with a great atmosphere and friendly service. On a few occasions, when we asked to split specific items between two bills, there seemed to be small errors in how it was calculated. I didn’t raise it at the time, but it’s something that stood out and could be improved to make the experience even smoother.
Reviews / Ratings for Cafe Gentile DDO
The service was outstanding, the food gourmet and beautifully presented. The restaurant is very nice, definitely go for the food. For conversations it may be a little to noisy.
I’m a local patron and frequent Gentile in the West Island often. I decided to book Gentile for a Corporate event where I had 50 people attend an event of high importance. The presentation of my lunch bags was pitiful where I had asked for a description of what the sandwiches were to be on each bag .What I received was abbreviated terms unknown to those making a selection which led to a disorganized flow for the event. My lunch bags were not cheap and you would expect a top quality offering. I reached out after the event to share my feedback and was told they would be in touch and they never did get in touch . Very disappointing - no customer service follow up as promised. Do not recommend.
Best place in town! Absolutely love this place. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, perfect for both a quick coffee or a relaxed meal. The service is attentive and friendly, and everything we try is fresh and delicious.
The food is very good. The atmosphere is too loud. What I did not appreciate is that they charged me 0.50$ for hot water and lemon. No other restaurant has ever charged me for that. I find that very cheap of this restaurant to charge for this especially considering that my bill was close to a $100.
4th time here and it NEVER disappoints. The food is EXCELLENT and unlike any other place on the West Island. So happy we have this gem in the West. I had the best waiter (hi Adam!) and hope I get him again!
Had a great experience at Cafe Gentile. The design is gorgeous, the service is excellent, and the food and drink quality is excellent. Highly recommended!
The waitress was rude. When an extra friend showed up, she refused to bring a chair or utensils for her. She also dropped the order in the middle of the table instead of serving it properly. I will never go there again.
The food, atmosphere and service was incredible! So good I even took some home! Definitely worth many visits!
I went with some friends yesterday. We didn't think of making reservations since it was during the week. The staff made sure we were well taking care of in the cafe section. Multiple times they came to ask if we're comfortable and if we needed anything. At the end of the evening they thanked us several times for coming. Such a pleasure being surrounded by this environment. We definitely go back. And, of course. The food was amazing.
Very loud, very pricy but super yummy.
Cute spot with really nice decor and a cozy atmosphere. The service was great, friendly, attentive, and made the experience enjoyable. The food was okay, but nothing particularly memorable. I wouldn’t go out of my way for the food alone, but it’s still a nice place to visit for the ambiance and service.
Anthony & Serena are the best, amazing service, high quality.I totally recommend this place to everyone . 10/10 thank you guys,im definitely coming back .
Great Food. Amazing Service by Anthony!!!
Loved the food and the service, fantastic. We'll be back!
Great food and atmosphere!
Going to Gentile DDO really is an experience. Stunning place from inside out. Incredible atmosphere and a great staff. Coffee is one of the best in the West Island and the food is fresh and on point. Must try spot that brings a new vibe to Montreal.
Amazing experience at Café Gentile DDO. The coffee is consistently top-tier, the pastries are fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Staff are friendly and efficient every time I go. Easily one of the best spots in the area, highly recommend.
Great food, friendly staff and great setting. Make sure to get reservations for dinner otherwise seating is first come first served on the cafe or bar side. Sandwiches available for takeout only in the evening.
I noticed an inconsistency in how the coffees are presented by the female barista in the front some customers are getting latte art while others aren’t. It comes across as selective and affects the overall service experience. Consistency would go a long way in maintaining the restaurant’s reputation. Also she overall has a very rude aura to her. Could be more pleasant considering shes working right in the front of the restaurant.
Food was good. Definitely was on the pricier side. We paid 80$ for two. The waitress kept checking on us. Although I felt super rushed from how she immediately asked us to pay. its DEFINITELY not a chill spot to go to. The space was EXTREMELY crowded barely 2 inches from a table to the next. I couldn’t even hear my friend who was talking. For the price and the ambiance I’m getting, I wouldn’t really revisit.
This placed is way too overrated , we had a reservation yet had to wait 30 minutes for a seat. The food was average at best and the prices are ridiculous. If you are looking for something similar Bernie's is way better food and service.
The coffe shop inside has become apart of my daily ritual, and for good reason. From the moment you walk in, the retro atmosphere pulls you in and it’s always buzzing with energy, in the best way. The coffee is genuinely some of the best I’ve ever had. My go-to is a vanilla latte with the vanilla on the side (Tony knows exactly why), and it never disappoints. But what really keeps me coming back is the team. Tony, Tommy, and George are the kind of staff that make you feel like a regular from day one. Tony especially goes above and beyond — he remembers your order, looks out for you, and his hospitality is just genuine. He’s the one who turned me onto the canolies and the Nutella horns, which are absolutely incredible I’ve brought my entire family here one by one, and every single one of them has really enjoyed the coffee and vibe of the place. If you haven’t been yet just go you won’t be disappointed.
Absolute excellence! Amazing service and food to die for! The calamari were light and not greasy...just perfect!
First visit to the DDO location and it did not disappoint. I’ve been to Westmount and Chabanel many times, and this one absolutely lives up to the standard. Beautiful decor and a great vibe right when you walk in. We had a great dinner with fabulous, friendly service from start to finish. The Caesar salad was fresh and really tasty, and the artichoke appetizer was absolutely delicious. The Charred Up pizza with fresh mutz, parlour’s sauce, dry cured house pepperoni, and Calabrian chilli flakes was perfect. Also had a great arrabbiata and margarita. All in all a great night
