I went last Tuesday for dinner with my brother and we had their areas. I had the roasted pork belly and a Paloma for a drink. I had never tried one of these types of sandwiches before but it was AMAZINGLY good. The "bread" had a great corn flavor and the pork was delicious. Their verde and red hot sauce also tasted great! The Paloma was good but I would've liked a hint more lime in it. I am so sorry to the waiter for not tipping as it wasn't intentional and I did not realize until after the fact. We paid on 1 bill and I only saw it after I paid. When the waiter passed the machine to me, he accidentally tapped the screen during the tip option, so it disappeared and went straight to pay so I didn't see the % but figured whatever I'll just pay. Only after looking at the receipt did I noticed no tips were left. I felt and still feel awful so hopefully next time I come back he's there and I can leave a bigger tip to make up for it. There was nothing wrong with the service! 🙏
What guests say about Arepera
Arepera seems like a very good option in Montreal, especially if you’re looking for a 100% gluten-free menu with lots of choices for vegetarians, vegans, and meat-eaters. Reviews often highlight tasty arepas and empanadas, generous portions, fresh juices, and good value for money. The service is often appreciated, although a few customers have noted missed items, uneven hospitality, or occasional delays. Note: a few reviews mention prices higher than expected and, more rarely, issues with service or quality.

Food is good, price sucks. I get we are all dealing with rising costs but this is Venezuelan street food and $30+ for a small Arepa and like 6 yucca fries is wild.
Six stars for a great mojito for $7 during 5 à 7, four for the food and 2 for the server who told me a sticky blob catching my shirt was “just glue” instead of apologizing and offering to seat us somewhere else. We ended up moving ourselves. Fast food joints keep their tables cleaner. I’m happy to receive an apology and change this. Rubbing alcohol would make it go away in five minutes. You’re welcome.
Great vegan options. In a very cute part of town
Consistently delivers delicious bites and takes the stress out of eating gluten free! Vegetarian options are delicious as well. Be sure to taste their homemade sauces which will have you reaching for more.
The arepa was surprisingly filling. Good place for a quick meal.
cœliac’s heaven!!!!
This is my happy place
The food was delicious and everything came at a great temperature with generous portions. I highly recommend the empanadas, you can order them mixed, which is perfect for trying different flavors. The cheese one was amazing, and the pork empanada was just as good. I also had the Llanera arepa and really enjoyed it. For dessert, the coconut flan was tasty as well. They also have soursop water, sugarcane juice, and other fresh juices, which was a nice touch. I only wish they had offered a straw, but that’s a very minor detail. Prices are affordable and the staff was friendly. Sometimes it felt a little hard to get someone’s attention for dessert or the bill, but honestly it also gave us time to relax and enjoy our conversation. Overall, a very good experience and I’d definitely come back.
The sauce is one of a kind.
The food was delicious and filling. I enjoyed trying plantains, something I haven't had before. There service was good but I was a little disappointed or cocktail came to our table when we were almost finished our meal. I would definitely eat here again!
My wife is Ceolic and i normally dont like gluteen free restruants but this one was excellent, didnt give a 5 fot athmospher as we were the onlyones here at lunch
Tried their vegan, gluten free empanadas (black beans and plantains). Absolutely delicious!!!!! And the sauces were sooooo good. Highly recommend.
The ambience is great. The pork empanadas are too good - must try. The arepas are also nice, quite filling.
Really enjoyed this spot as a gluten free visitor to MTL - plantain (amazing), casava sticks & pork belly sandwich, complimented with a shot of mezcal… can’t ask for too much more than that
Excellent food. I was hesitant about going to a gluten free restaurant but my sister is celiac. And I am so glad we did! Everything was great! I highly recommend the Empanadas. We also had the pork belly platter and the pork and avocado sandwich. Fed the 3 of nicely (though if another empanada was there I would have gladly taken it down.) I had a guarapita and my sister had the non alcoholic cane sugar and lime, both were lovely. My nephew had water and they kept on top of filling up the water.
I had such a great experience at Arepera and will definitely be coming back. As someone with celiac disease, it can be stressful finding places that are truly safe to eat at, but their 100% gluten-free menu made this such a relaxing and enjoyable visit. It’s honestly rare to be able to order freely without second-guessing anything, and I really appreciated that. The menu has a great variety of options, especially when it comes to arepas and empanadas. There were so many different flavor combinations to choose from, and everything sounded amazing. I also loved that they offer fresh juices, which added a really nice touch to the meal. Everything we ordered came out quickly and at the perfect temperature. You could tell right away that the food was made fresh. I had the beef and cheddar cheese arepa, the cheese empanadas, a guava juice, and the coconut flan for dessert. Every single item was delicious, affordable, well-seasoned, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The arepa was especially satisfying and filling, and the flan was a great way to end the meal. The service was also excellent. Our server was very polite, kind, and attentive, and gave some really helpful recommendations when we were deciding what to order. It made the whole experience feel even more welcoming. Overall, this is a fantastic spot whether you’re gluten-free or not. Highly recommend checking it out!
Great choice for gluten sensitive and other food allergies.
We love these arepas, with a huge variety between meat, fish and vegan (the black beans, plantain and avocado is my favorite!). Naturally gluten-free (made with corn), this is a perfect meal out if you cannot eat gluten. Enjoy!
Absolutely brilliant food! So happy I finally made it here. A great selection of vegetarian/vegan options, everything was hot, crispy, spicy and delicious! And the best passionfruit juice. I'll definitely be back
The food is AMAZING! Lot's of choices and generous portions. Eric is a delight to talk to and super considerate of food restrictions/allergies. The team at Scaffographe thanks everyone at Arepera!
yummy!!!
Been going at different times in my life, including when they had their old location. The food and service is the same: Amazing! Great portions, delicious food, cool atmosphere. A must-try. Trop bon!
Amazing food
Delicious gluten-free arepas! The flavors and textures are spot on. My favorite is the black bean, plantain, and avocado; teenager likes all the chicken ones. The green sauce is so good and the red one adds a nice fiery kick. Be sure to try the coconut flan! Thankful to find a place that offers both gluten free and dairy free options, and that is delicious!
