The food came out very quickly after we ordered and the price was really good, the staff were friendly and attentive. The food itself was also yummy, but a little bit too greasy even for chinese food.

Thanks very much for your great and detailed review. The amount of oil depends on the dishes you order, where some items are deep fried, or needs oil to be to the taste of customers. You can try to ask for less oil for sure when ordering.

A go to spot for me and my partner. I’m never disappointed after going there. They are famous for their pork chops and I would definitely recommend them!

Very authentic Hongkong food. We ordered fried shrimp ball and mapo tufu. Delicious. Will go back for its fried pork chops.

It is a gem. The food is excellent. They take time to ask you what you like and even tell us they have some specials dish today. I recommend. True style Cantonese food.

I got the #108 AD for togo and it was sooo tasty. Porkchop was fatty which I really love. Also the meat is tender. Staff was really nice. A must try ! I paid $16.90 for the meal and it was really worth it !

Thanks very much for your vote of confidence and support! We are asked so often how we can say "Best Pork chops in town". Our answer is that it is not us and it is our customers saying this. We actually have many more favorite menu items, and in fact too many to decide.

Don't let the strange name fool you. This place is FAR more authentic and better-tasting than the dumpling house next door (we walked over after being disappointed by the food there). Service was incredibly quick and kind as well. It's a real shame they get so little traffic compared to the other restaurants on the block. It's probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in central Montreal.

Thanks very much for your great and detailed review! We try our best. We are the underdog, but maybe doing better than most think. Depending on the time of day, the weather, etc...there can be more or less people. Our name is really a research topic indeed. For many years, I thought the Amigo was of the Spanish origin, but because the old chef was from Macau, it is probably of Portuguese origin. Our Chinese name translates to something like the "Friendly Place". In Montreal, Quebec, we are not allowed to use the English name, like "Friends", but that might be copyright? The French name might be "Ami", but that is already widely used. So... "Amigo Restaurant" it is!!!???

We are honored that you chose our restaurant since your clearly have great tastes. Thanks for the taking time to give us a good review! We are a dying breed, where most of the old timers have deceased, retired, or will retire. The number of Cantonese restaurants remaining in Montreal is less and less; with 1 restaurant closed permanently 2 months ago, 1 sold and might become condos, and 1 sold to a non-Cantonese and might not last long. Those remaining are with the time ticking without more support. We are the next generation trying our best and there have been many improvements to Amigo. The food of course is at least as good or maybe better than ever. We are famous for our salt and pepper pork chops, but if you don't try the rest of our menu, you are missing out. Recently, we painted the walls, fixed the dining room floors, change the washroom floor tiles, changed the male washroom vanity, improved the heating, improved the AC, and more. Yes, we did keep the old tacky interior design, but we still get considered for movie and TV sets. We are also building up the clientele more than ever? "Hole in the wall" is in high demand!!!??? Thanks again.

Great chinese restaurant in saint laurent boulevard, we had the lunch menu (soup + veggie roll + big plate) for 10.68$.. nice vibe + lovely staff.
