We came here for a celebratory dinner and had a wonderful time! The food was incredible and the people working there were super kind (thanks, Abhi!). Would highly recommend, especially if you’re looking for delicious gluten free food

First time at Tula’s and food was delicious
My family and I were visiting Montreal for the first time for a concert and we came across Tula searching for vegan and Indian food. It was the best part of our stay. We are so grateful to have met Abhishek and became friends during our stay. He is such a kind, generous, talented, passionate, person and soul showcasing our culture and cuisine in the most beautiful way. He has made his restaurant into a safe space with wonderful energy and vibes and community. The food is the best Indian food we have ever had and we miss it everyday in Toronto and nothing here compares. This is the first time we have even found gluten free chapati at an Indian restaurant let alone an all vegan one. Everything about this place was a wonderful experience. They are very accommodating and health conscious too. We loved the food and his company so much we came as much as we could during our short stay and we miss it! I hope to visit in the summer. Big thank you to Abhishek and his wonderful staff. Please give this place a visit if you haven’t!
I can’t recommend Tula enough. From the moment we came in, Abhi treated us like we were family. He made a table just for us, gave great recommendations and good conversation. The food is unbelievably good. The special appetizers are a must for sharing to start. Our group of 3 shared 2 apps and a main each. All of the food was amazing. So good that I didn’t even take a moment to take photos which I normally do. Make a reservation to ensure you get a seat, especially if more than 2 people. Thanks again Abhi from Liam Gill and Sidney, all the way from Halifax. You’re the best
I went here on a Saturday evening with a friend, drawn in by the incredible 4.9-star rating on Google. I don't normally leave reviews like this, but I felt I had to so other people aren't misled by those stars the way we were. We showed up without a reservation around 8:15pm. The owner greeted us at the door friendly, smiling and let us know the remaining tables were all reserved. We were totally fine with that and offered to leave, no fuss. But he asked us to wait while he sorted it out. We stood near the door while the owner spoke to a staff member and made phone calls to check if reserved parties were coming. It was a bit awkward just standing there. Eventually a reservation cancelled and we were given a table for two. And that's kind of where things went downhill. Once we were seated, nobody came to us. No menus, no water, no acknowledgement. The owner had already moved on to other tables noticeably bigger groups and was being super warm and attentive with them, chatting them up, checking in. We just sat there. After a long wait, he casually passed us the menus and later dropped off a bottle of water and two glasses. To place our order, we had to flag someone down who turned out to be a friend of the owner helping that night, not even a regular staff member. He was nice and tried his best. But when he went over to the counter to pass on our order to the staff member there, we could clearly hear her snap at him in an annoyed tone to do it himself. She was all smiles and super friendly with the other tables but didn't so much as glance in our direction the entire time. At that point we genuinely offered to just leave. We said we didn't want to add to their stress, and we were happy to go. The owner's friend apologized, told us the food was started, and encouraged us to stay. So, we did. But honestly, the mood was already gone. The food arrived and unfortunately it didn't save the evening. Everything was quite bland not what you'd expect from Indian food, which should be rich and full of flavor. The portions were on the small side, and the prices didn't really match what was on the plate. It was mediocre at best. Then came the bill and suddenly the same staff member who had been cold and short with us the entire evening was all smiles, warm, chatty, trying to be our best friend. It felt so forced and pretentious that it made everything worse. She treated us like an inconvenience for an hour and then flipped a switch when it was time to collect payment. Restaurants get busy, things go wrong, staff have off nights, all understandable. But the pattern here was, tables with larger groups got genuine warmth and attention, and we got the leftovers of that. We were polite, patient, and easy to please the entire time, and we still left feeling like we weren't wanted there. We were ignored in a condescending way, like we were somehow beneath the effort. It's a feeling that's hard to shake and honestly made the whole experience feel soul crushing. This was genuinely the worst I've been made to feel at a restaurant. I won't be coming back, and I'd encourage anyone reading this to go in with realistic expectations especially if you're walking in without a reservation.
TULA is a gem, the flavors are bold, rich, and seriously unforgettable. The space is vibrant and beautifully decorated, which adds to the whole experience. Service is warm and attentive, and you can really feel how much care goes into everything. The owner is clearly passionate and it shows in both the food and the atmosphere. Definitely a spot I’d come back to!!!
Incredibly kind staff! The food is incredible and so was the service! Will definitely be returning and would recommend this place for anyone. Incredible selection on the menu as well!
Every dish is beautifully crafted. This place is a must try and truly a gem. Absolutely loved it.
An amazing restaurant! One of the best if not THE best vegan restaurant in Montreal. Abi is a very kind and warm person that provides a really great dining experience. Food is delicious as well as the drinks! In all of my 6 days visiting i came back three times for the dinner but it wasn’t unfortunately enough to try out all of the menu but that will be an excuse for the next visit! Special shout out as well goes to mango moksha! Shikriya Abi!
Last time I went, we were a group of 24 people form our yoga studio. The owner, Abhishek, concocted for us a wonderful Table d'hôte that was absolutely delicious! The lassi drink we had before was a delight! Abhi is the friendliest host you can find. Eager to talk, laugh and make the experience memorable. His waitress, Rania, is a pure gem! Pleasant, efficient, friendly. As a group, this was the best experience we could get in a restaurant. Abhi even put on Bollywood music at the end and they treated us to watching their great moves and got us to join in. Priceless! Personally, being vegan, it's such a great feeling to eat somewhere you don't have to ask questions about the ingredients and know it's like home made cooking! It is a great place for any size of people. I highly recommend it.
Always fresh and delicious. We come to the restaurant or get a take out whenever we want a consistently delicious meal. We love their curries, the drinks and the brunch is also very special.
Amazing vegetarian food and great service as well.
What an amazing experience! This restaurant is a gem, with such a terrific array of fantastic vegan food. The owner (Abhi) came to our table to check in, and he exuded such tremendous excitement about vegan cooking; it was a delight.
What stands out about Tula is the service. It's personable, warm and friendly. The owner and our waitress are excited to have you taste their dishes. The food was creative , delicious and beautifully presented.
Really delicious, the food feels healthy and also made with care. It's a unique dining experience here in Montreal. The best gluten free chapati ever, extremely impressive.
Food was the best we had this past weekend. I am still thinking about it and can't wait to be back in Montreal to eat here again!! We got the salad, chicken tikka masala , chilli chicken, paratha, mango lassi, jackfruit biryani and purple yam cake and would recommend all of them. The service was absolutely amazing. Abi, the owner explained the full menu and you can see the passion he has for all the food on his menu!! 100% recommend.
The best Indian plant-based restaurant in Montreal. Tried Vegan Chicken Biryani so awesome. The lasooni Dhaniya Tofu so so so delicious, gluten free chapati goes along with it. Also talking about ambiance, slow meditating music in background, the refreshing insect stick wow.
Montreal's most magical dining experience! If you're looking for a reason to book a trip to Montreal, let me give you one: Tula. My husband and I visited during a recent trip to the city, and without question, it was the best meal we had -- and honestly, one of the most memorable dining experiences of our lives. From the moment you walk through the door, the space wraps you in warmth. The atmosphere is inviting, the decor puts you instantly at ease, and the staff greet you with the kind of genuine kindness that's increasingly rare. But it's Abhi and Renata (apologies if I've misspelled either name!) who truly make this place something extraordinary. These two are the heart and soul of Tula, and their passion for what they do radiates through every single aspect of the experience. We spent a few wonderful hours there, and I mean that -- the time just melted away. Renata sang for the entire restaurant, and her voice was absolutely stunning, a spontaneous and beautiful gift to everyone in the room. Abhi, in the most generous gesture, sat down and hand-wrote a list of vegan restaurant recommendations from around the globe for us to take home. These are people who love what they do and love the people they do it for. And then there's the food. Oh, the food. We started with an Indian taco special that set the tone perfectly, then moved on to the Tofu Achari Masala curry with chapati and the Dal Sambar with steamed rice -- both absolutely spectacular. We finished with a special pistachio cake dessert that was the perfect, dreamy ending to the meal. Every single dish tasted like it was made with genuine love and intention, because it was. This is vegan Indian cuisine at its very finest. I left Tula feeling something I didn't quite expect: greater faith in humanity. That might sound dramatic, but if you go -- and you absolutely must go, as soon as possible -- I think you'll understand exactly what I mean. Don't wait. Just go.
