I had an amazing experience at Trattoria Gio. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, authentic, and inviting. A big shoutout to server, Emmie who was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely made me feel at home. The food was outstanding. Chef Dali truly knows what he’s doing. The Penna Alla Gigi he recommended was exceptional - perfectly balanced flavours, rich yet not overwhelming, and clearly made with care and expertise. Overall, everything about this place: the food, the service, and the atmosphere was top-tier. The staff really elevated the entire experience and made it a solid 5-star visit. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great Italian experience.

My friends and I went to celebrate the first nice warm day of the season and had the most wonderful service. Thank you Yassim, Pietro, Dali and Michael! All of them were pleasant and accommodating, especially as our group was a little rowdy ;) we ate and drank to our hearts content, what a great way to kick off the summer!

Pietro, Michael Yacine and Dali were a pleasure. They made us feel so welcome. Dining at trattoria Gio was an excellent way to ring in the summer season in Montreal. Can’t wait to come back :)

Came to this place with some friends from out of town and this place has a great ambience and great music. The food is amazing and the food came right on time. Our server Yassine was amazing he was so kind and made us feel welcome. Yassine’s service was outstanding and had our food brought to us quickly and fresh.

I had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. The pasta sauce tasted like it was right out of a can. There was no cheese, and the pasta didn’t taste fresh. My friends got the pizza, and it was also nothing special. We were there with a big group, and the service was at least decent and they brought our food fast. However, the owner or someone working there came over and asked us to leave a positive review in exchange for a free tiramisu. It really felt like a tourist trap, especially considering the price. I paid about $37 for one bowl of pasta, and it just wasn’t worth it. I would not recommend this place.

I had such an odd experience! Everything was just so… slow. I went in the evening and it was empty. The server took our orders, later brought our appetisers. Then an hour later we assumed that they simply forgot our mains. Then he came and asked if we were ready for the mains. Then later we had to ask for the bill twice before finally receiving the bill. And he never asked if we wanted take put boxes, and we had a lot of food leftover ( i didnt state it either so its not entirely the servers fault ). But i ended up spending much longer than expected in that restaurant due to the slowness.

Yassine was an INCREDIBLE server! From the Pasta dish to the delicious Lime Mojito (perfect blend between a drink and something refreshing). As visitors to MTL, I can say for certainty, I Montre-WILL be coming back!

The service was fantastic! The food was cooked to perfection, and the drinks were made deliciously well! I had the riggatoni à la gio and it was perfection! So delicious!! I would highly recommend coming here if you’re in town! And our server, Yassine, was incredibly friendly and very professional! He made the experience better!

A masterclass in Italian simplicity! The linguine was perfectly al dente, tossed in a silky, golden emulsion of olive oil and garlic. The garlic was sliced thin and toasted to a sweet, mellow finish—no bitterness at all. ​With just the right kick of red chili flakes and fresh parsley, this dish proved that you don’t need a heavy sauce to make a massive impression. Highly recommend if you appreciate authentic, well-executed fundamentals.
