Food is sensational and super affordable given the quality and freshness of everything. The whole team is incredible and fun to be around. Super accessible from metro (5 minutes walk from Beaubien). Thank you to the whole team!!! See you soon! NOTE*** It’s best to reserve, even on weekdays!!
Reviews / Ratings for Tô dinette viet
This restaurant went viral on social media so we decided to give it a try on my search for Vietnamese food- the snack menu was what piqued my interest as opposed to a regular pho restaurant. A fair bit of seating inside- both normal tables and smaller tables that mimicked seating at food stalls in Vietnam. Food wise- menu is definitely smaller but dishes were well prepared. We ordered the chicken salad, wings, shrimp fritters and a mango margarita. Everything was great, service was quick and efficient. Prices were also very fair. They’ve only been open for two months but good to see a local place like this have success!
Staff/waiters were accommodating after asking us to switch place for a group of 3. Comped out drinks which was very appreciated. Food taste great and met expectations in terms of ratio quality/price. Mango Margarita was top notch. Also: Service dans les deux langues officielles. I wish their business success and long life, great spot on st-hubert bound to gain in popularity.
Tô Dinette Viet truly served one of the best Vietnamese meals I’ve had in Montréal. One of the things I liked most was how clean and clear the flavours were. There are no unnecessarily heavy sauces everything is simple but very impactful. You can really feel the quality of the ingredients. The place is small, but very warm and welcoming, with a real neighbourhood “hidden gem” vibe. The service was also quick and friendly, making you feel comfortable right away.
Came here with my friends for dinner. The vibes were great. We stream on twitch and they were okay with use streaming (make sure you ask before as always). The food was amazing. Very authentic viet food, we enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff was very attentive and lovely. Probably one of the best services I’ve received on the island. Highly recommend you check this restaurant out.
I find it bizarre that they pushed any walk-ins to the low table setup despite there were many empty "standard" table without reservation. My logic is this: I pay the same money and eat the same food, just because I had two people so I could not sit at the comfortable setup for 4 people to enjoy the same food? The low table is not comfortable to eat at all, they should just get rid of it and use normal height table and chairs, or pair the low tables with low chairs. For the food: fried food was good. The signsture Bo Ne did not live up to my expectation due to the quality of the beef. They clearly use cheap cut that is not suitable for steak/stir-fry. My Bo Ne was unchewable and salty... at least the patê was very good. Hope they will get rid of the low table and use a better cut of beef.
Everyone was so sweet and the food was delicious. We were visiting from Toronto and this spot did not disappoint
Ambiance was good, services are great and food was amazing 🤩
food was so tasty and service was amazing!
The service is amazing, very kind. The food is good but it’s small portions for the price (20$) per plate. The pâté was nice. The bun bo hue was good but a bit over spicy and less aromatic than the usual. Call for reservation is recommended
Saw a video online so we came, and it was very disappointing. The food was very mediocre, especially the soup (forgot the name but it was with porc and crab) - quite frankly it was disgusting, very fishy, smell like cat food and taste like rotten seafood… Plus, we waited more than half an hour until the first plate was served.
The food was super good. They menu is very small but what they have is very good. The place it tiny so u must make a reservation if u wanna it there. Service was good. I took a star off because the music was a bit too loud for me. Couldn't hear people on my table and we were next to the exit so I was mad cold.
Amazing vietnamese restaurant, they were out of a LOT (maybe 50%) of their menu when I went so would be careful if you want one specific dish
Food was mediocre and service was super slow. Wont come back
There was no pâte on the Bo Ne, so it was 23 dollars for bread and some pieces of beef and a fried egg. The waitress was useless and rude. Cute atmosphere though and the male waiter was probably more competent.
Stumbled onto this place while walking on the street - even though it was 5:30 pm on a Saturday night and I had no reservation I was welcomed in to sit at the back bar. What a delightful surprise - great food at a great price, great atmosphere, and truly nice crew (I met a new waiter - his first day on the job - the house manager, and the chef, all of whom briefly chatted with me.) On waiter Brandon's recommendation, I ordered the Cahn Ga (chicken wings) appetizer and was instantly hooked - among the best I've ever had! Generously sized, three big wings with perfectly cooked, tender meat in a delicious crisp coating, subtly spiced with a bit of sauce and herbs. It was so good I ended up ordering a to-go order to bring home to my wife! At $8 per order this was an absolute deal. Also at his suggestion I had the main course soup, Bun Rieu - a generously portioned and lovely bowl (see photo) that featured a tangy (but not spicy) red broth with herbs and vegetable garnish, lots of vermicelli-like soft rice noodles, satisfying slices of baked tofu, and featuring unusual (and tasty) "meatballs" of mixed ground pork and crab paste, which filled me up quite happily. In talking to chef Galaxy (as he introduced himself) I learned that his goal was to bring reasonably priced Vietnamese "street food" to the public, being mindful of how difficult it is to present affordable and tasty food to the neighborhood in these times. I'd say he succeeded admirably! The decor was vibrant and fun - colorful paper lanterns, a lovely and inviting entrance full of Vietnamese signs and memorabilia, and a cheery if deliberately low-key vibe. And pleasant, not-too-loud background music, a big plus. As one of the customers leaving as I went it said, this place has great, authentic food. I'll be back. I'm no expert on Vietnamese street food, but I know what well-executed and delicious, good quality food at a good price can be. This place hits the mark.
Disappointing experience today at lunch time. Resto was half full at 12:30, we were seated immediately on one of the low plastic tables and stools. The ambiance is instagrammable, true to the theme with lots of cute decor. Unfortunately the service left much to be desired. Seemed like one person was serving the whole restaurant but the delay appeared to come from the kitchen. Items were missing from my order. Food took an hour to arrive. The flavors were there and the price was fair but honestly not worth the detour. At the end of the day there are better (albeit few) options for authentic street food in Montreal. I was influenced by many IG posts showcasing this resto… learned my lesson
Flavour flave sooooo coool this place highly suggest
Best food, such beautiful energy
Delicious food and cool street food vibe in the middle of Plaza St Hubert. Menu may be limited but any choice is delicious and abundant. We ordered 2 appetizers : Bánh tôm (4 pcs of double shrimp on sweet potato matchsticks) and Canh Gà 👍👍👍 (suoer savory chicken wings). We were already stuffed ! For our main courses, we had : Thịt Rim Mắm Sả (braised pork, fried egg, & rice) and Bò Né (sizzling lemongrass beef & homemade beef/pork paté, fried egg, & rice. To tip the scale, we finished with their Cà phê sữa đá (Vietnamese iced coffee). A fantastic foodie adventure and definitely worth a visit ! Gotta return for their Banh Cuon and Bún Riêu soup !
I truly love the food here, from the beautiful presentation to the deeply authentic flavors in every dish. This was actually the first restaurant I visited after landing from my trip to Mexico, and it was the perfect meal to come back to. After traveling, it felt so comforting to enjoy such fresh and flavorful Vietnamese food. All the dishes here are simply outstanding. Each bowl and plate tastes carefully prepared, balanced, and comforting—just like the food from Vietnam. What makes this place even more special is that the chef Galaxy is Vietnamese and cooks with a genuine passion for authentic cuisine. You can truly feel that dedication in the flavors, the ingredients, and the attention to detail in every dish. It’s rare to find a restaurant that stays so true to traditional Vietnamese cooking while also presenting the food so beautifully. You have the amazing kind waiter Aaron Who know well the menu & give great recommendation. For me, discovering a place that captures the real taste of Vietnamese brings so much joy. Every visit feels warm and familiar, almost like sitting down for a homemade meal. The gentle and peaceful décor, inspired by a simple hometown atmosphere, makes the experience even more comforting and relaxing. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates authentic flavors and heartfelt cooking.
waited an hour (clearly understaffed, not the waiters' fault) for extremely mid food (bao was good but mains were bland and small)
I really wanted to go here and saved it in my list . Me and my friends came from far to support the restaurant . We skip working. Check on Google the restaurant is open . We come on Tuesday at noon . And when we arrived then it closes and they put on the door the opening hour difference with on google ( Monday and Tuesday they only open from 5pm )- so it’s not an unexpected closing for them ) . We called the restaurant but no one picked up the phone . We are very disappointed. Please make it clear about this . We parked the cars even though it’s difficult. Paid for 2 hours thinking of enjoying the foods soon. I always put 5* for restaurants- never put 4* for any restaurant. But this time I change to 3* . You know it’s important to have review on google then put the opening time exactly for the clients . It’s Montreal .
What a gem of a place and the same goes for the people that make it so! Authentic, humble, cozy, welcoming. It's one of those places you walk into out of curiosity and end up forgetting where you are on the world map completely. And it's totally fine that you keep ordering food and drink just to have a reason to stay there because it's so affordable! I dare you to go try the chicken wings and not get a second or third serving of it with a nice cold Tsingtao. I'll be back chef Galaxy. Zo!
Amazing food and such a chill vibe !!
