What guests say about Tô dinette viet

People really like the tasty, fresh Vietnamese food, often made to order, with a nice variety of dishes to share. The atmosphere is warm, casual, and original, but the place is small and the low seating can be uncomfortable; it's better to make a reservation. A few customers also reported slow service and dishes that are sometimes inconsistent or unavailable, so it's a good choice if you're not in a hurry.

A good place for lunch! Modern vietnamese bistrot type restaurant . Plates to share.

Great ambiance, beautiful decor, and excellent service, but the food didn't quite live up to the social media hype. As someone who is Vietnamese, I had high expectations that weren't met. The chicken wings are a good value at $8 for 3 large pieces, but they lacked crispiness and the nuoc mam flavor was barely noticeable. The chicken salad was decent, and while the bread was good, the Bò Né, the dish I was most excited for, was disappointing in both portion size and taste. Come for the vibes and service, but the execution of the food leaves room for improvement.

We asked a waitress (asian, 20's to 30's) to see a menu at the door and were rudely greeted as she rolled her eyes. I'm not sure if she was just having a bad day but I think speaks very poorly of the standards here and should be addressed.

MEH. Not much flavour. Everything was topped with the same mint, cilantro, and cabbage so they all tasted the same. Chicken wings were bland. Couldn't taste any seasoning on them. The beef in Bo Ne was underseasoned. Portion size was not generous for the price.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tô Dinette Viet 🇻🇳❤️ A little gem in Montréal. Delicious food, charming red chairs, and a cozy atmosphere that feels like a stroll through Hoi An. The chef and staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food, put this place on your list. Worth every bite. Highly recommended. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #ToDinetteViet #MontrealFoodie #VietnameseFood #HoiAnVibes #HiddenGem

Cozy restaurant with good ambiance. Love the V-pop playlist. We went in just before dinner rush hence service time was right on. Food was on the saltier side, a beer would pair well with it. The chicken wings offer good value, a true street food spirit. Will be back for outside set up.

The food was really tasty, I'm not vegetarian but I loved their tofu with eggplants. Their drinks are also tasty, I had the spicy mango cocktail and it was flavorful and well balanced in spice. It is fair priced, we had an entrée, main course and drinks. Lovely staff, super kind!

Delicious! Food came out quick and had that nice street food feel from Vietnam, flavors felt pretty authentic as well. Looking forward to coming back and trying out some dishes coming up on their menu!

I was walking by this restaurant one evening and I decided to stop and look at the menu. The restaurant had some photos of some of the dishes in their front window display. As i looked at them I said « Mmm, that looks good . » A voice behind me said « You won’t know until you’ve come in and tried the food. » I turned and I saw someone relaxing, obviously at the end of a shift. It was the Chef, Galaxy. I asked him if the crab and pork soup was good. He said you’ll have to try it to know. I said that i usually ate at Pho Tay Ho and was the food comparable to them? He said to come for lunch tomorrow and be the judge! So I did. My wife and I got the chicken wings, the eggplant and tofu and a Ca Phe. The food was simply excellent. We will go back soon! Bravo chef.

1) Food: The dishes looked great in their ads and on social media, so I was very excited (they also ran *a lot* of ads). However, most items fell short. The only standout was bánh tôm (the shrimp fritters) which I enjoyed. Bò né (the steak & egg skillet) had too much soy sauce which overwhelmed the beef and pâté. The bánh bao was more Chinese bao bun style than actual Vietnamese bánh bao, and the filling was below average - definitely my least favorite. Gỏi gà (the chicken salad) was also average and forgettable. Portions were small for the price, so we didn’t bother ordering more and just went to Tay Ho restaurant nearby afterward for a fuller, actually delicious, and cheaper meal. 2) Service: Also disappointing. After our food arrived, we held off eating to wait for our friend, which was 15 minutes in total (I took photos and have timestamps). 2 minutes before our friend came, at 6 PM, our server came over and asked, “Are you guys gonna eat that? We have tables after you.” This felt unnecessary and uncomfortable, especially since we were already worried sick if our friend was safe or not because of this unusual delay. For context, I’d called the day before and were aware they had rsvps starting from 7 PM, so this interaction at 6 felt rushed and somewhat icky. Then we checked with another server and were told we had a 1.5-hour seating window, which made the other person’s question even more unreasonable. We finished everything at 6:19 PM, which was approximately an hour of the total seating. After reading all the other comments, I have a feeling we’re all referring to the same waitress. If that’s right then I hope they would take some actions to manage this issue, like better training or something. 3) Seating: The setup was awkward and impractical. I understand Tô Dinette Viet wants to recreate a Vietnamese street food aesthetic with their furniture choices, but the execution misses the mark and inauthentic. Low plastic tables are typically paired with short stools (see my 2nd photo), and taller chairs go with even higher metal tables (photo #3), not whatever they do. This mismatch made it uncomfortable to eat and could be especially difficult for older customers. Overall: 1/5 experience.

The food was so flavourful! The place is very cute. The only negative thing is I would say that the chair (little red stools) are not very confy…

We ordered and then were ignored for over an hour - no drinks, food or check in. When I asked if prep had started as otherwise we would just leave (it was closing time) we got our juice and were reassured food was being plated. The food came another ten minutes later and the beef soup was very oily and not flavorful. The beef sandwich with egg was okay (didn't come with any toppings and you assemble yourself). They offered free imperial rolls which were good. The small plastic stools were hard to sit at for that kind of wait. This is a trendy looking spot but they probably forgot to put in the order and don't seem to actually care about your experience.

Went based on the good reviews, but food was below average. Not a lot of flavour, didn’t do justice to otherwise fantastic Vietnamese cuisine.

This place was amazing! Everything was delicious and seemed to be crafted with a lot of care and attention. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We had the grilled pork shoulder, grilled tofu, and the shrimp and yam donuts and everything tasted incredible. Highly recommend!

This restaurant went viral on social media so we decided to give it a try on my search for Vietnamese food- the snack menu was what piqued my interest as opposed to a regular pho restaurant. A fair bit of seating inside- both normal tables and smaller tables that mimicked seating at food stalls in Vietnam. Food wise- menu is definitely smaller but dishes were well prepared. We ordered the chicken salad, wings, shrimp fritters and a mango margarita. Everything was great, service was quick and efficient. Prices were also very fair. They’ve only been open for two months but good to see a local place like this have success!

Staff/waiters were accommodating after asking us to switch place for a group of 3. Comped out drinks which was very appreciated. Food taste great and met expectations in terms of ratio quality/price. Mango Margarita was top notch. Also: Service dans les deux langues officielles. I wish their business success and long life, great spot on st-hubert bound to gain in popularity.

Tô Dinette Viet truly served one of the best Vietnamese meals I’ve had in Montréal. One of the things I liked most was how clean and clear the flavours were. There are no unnecessarily heavy sauces everything is simple but very impactful. You can really feel the quality of the ingredients. The place is small, but very warm and welcoming, with a real neighbourhood “hidden gem” vibe. The service was also quick and friendly, making you feel comfortable right away.
