We were seated at the beautiful outdoor patio, gorgeous of the river on a nice sunny day. The food was great, we got started with their bread and butter which was fresh and fluffy. The appetizers were delicious. We had the scallops, smoked trout and the squash tempura. They were beautifully plated but not really made for sharing. I wish we had known that in advance. We informed the server as we were ordering about our intention to share, she probably should have warned us. In any case, they were absolutely divine. The braised short ribs as our main was a great choice. The cocktails were tasty but nothing remarkable. Service was very friendly but took a while to take our orders, to bring each dish to our table and to bring the bill (we had to get on the road, I kept looking over my shoulder to see the server but she always seemed busy looking at other directions). Overall a great experience and will definitely be back.
What guests say about The Village House
The reviews are mostly very positive, with the food described as tasty, fresh, and well presented, as well as service often described as warm and attentive. Several customers mention a lovely atmosphere and an enjoyable experience, سواء for a family meal or a more special outing. One more critical review, however, notes portions that are too small, disappointing value for money, and slow service on some occasions.

We recently dined for Mother's Day brunch and it was phenomenal. The staff were so warm and welcoming to our family, which includes two children under the age of five. The food was incredible - delicious, fresh, and cooked to perfection. This gem is so unassuming from the outside - we've walked by many times - but holds so much warmth and charm when you walk through the door. We will definitely be back.
Exceptional food! Everything is so fresh and tasty. Nice relaxing atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend. We had potato soup,Duck club sandwich, fish and chips, brownie- yuuum!
Second visit in a row and both the staff and the food were excellent once again. I’m beginning to think this place has figured out the secret to consistent perfection.
Amazing food! Service 100%.
Portion way too small. First time I spent over 100$ and go out hunggry from a restaurant. For the chef: it was good, but the carrots were not cook properly, vegetable cut in cube like we are 2 years old, you say cote de boeuf when its in fact a tiny square of shredded beef, 50$ for that is a rip off. The sauce was liquid like a soup.
Amazing meal. Amazing staff. A must eat in Wakefield!
This place is a hidden gem, the food and service is always out of this world. The plates served are full of flavor and there is always a veggie option for the wife. Take your better half on a date here, you wont regret it.
