I haven't been in years since I moved out of Chateauguay and the quality is just as good, if not better than I remember. It was delicious and the ambiance was great. Just a little loud so we had to kind of yell to speak BUT it wasn't anything to give less stars too. Sooo thumbs up for sure! 👍🏾🎉

A Culinary Symphony of Despair and Shrimp-Flavored Dairy If you’ve ever wanted to experience what it’s like to dine inside a panic attack, The Rail Coal Fire Bistro in Kahnawake is ready to fulfill that oddly specific nightmare. The Ambience: Acoustic Warfare Nothing says "bistro" quite like the soothing acoustic styling of a hundred senior citizens screaming at the top of their lungs. The dining room acts as a metaphorical waiting room for the tragic souls who just liquidated their life savings—specifically, $5 in nickel slots—at the depressing casino next door. The atmosphere was a beautiful blend of post-gambling depression and pure, unadulterated noise. Truly, a romantic spot. The Appetizer: An Identity Crisis on a Plate We began our culinary descent with the fried mac and cheese. What a triumph of cross-contamination! The kitchen geniuses took what I assume were freezer-burned hockey pucks from 2012 and dropped them straight into oil that had just been used to fry an entire ocean’s worth of shrimp. I didn’t realize "Mac and Cheese" was a seafood dish, but the distinct flavor of bottom-feeder crustacean really elevated the rancid grease. Absolute perfection if you love your cheese with a side of fishy regret. Liquid Cavities and the Ghost Salad To wash down the shrimp-cheese, our drinks arrived. The sangria was a masterpiece of mixology—if the mixologist’s only goal was to trigger immediate diabetic ketoacidosis. It contained roughly 0.0% alcohol and 100% liquid sugar. Then came my friend’s salad. Calling it a "salad" is generous. It was an existential void on a plate. It featured a white dressing, it was entirely tasteless, and it was aggressively white. It looked and tasted like it was harvested from a monochrome landscape where joy goes to die. The Burger: A Mistake in the Matrix Now, I must report a massive glitch in the system: the cheeseburger with bacon was actually good. The meat wasn't frozen, the bacon was decent, and it briefly threatened to save the meal. Thankfully, the kitchen quickly corrected this error with the side dishes. The burger was paired with the absolute cheapest, most pathetic excuse for french fries known to mankind. These are the bottom-of-the-barrel scraps that come from a 10-pound industrial freezer bag, where half the breading has already fallen off and mutated into dust. They were lovingly fried in oil that tasted like it hadn’t been changed since the bistro opened. And the pièce de résistance of this luxury dining experience? They paired these gourmet potato shards with individual, crinkly packets of French’s ketchup and tiny plastic pouches of mustard. Nothing screams "high-end coal fire bistro" quite like fumbling with foil packets like you're eating a ration kit in a fallout shelter. The Verdict I am begrudgingly awarding this place 2 out of 5 stars, purely because the hamburger somehow managed to taste like real food. As for the rest of this glorified nickel-slot cafeteria? I wouldn't return if they paid me in casino vouchers. Bon appétit.
