in overall i’d rate this like a 2.5 stars. the food is really good and the atmosphere is fine. but the customer service is so shit. we had to keep reminding the servers to clear our tables. the place wasnt even busy, there were probably 3 other tables of 3. so we decided not to tip because if you give a bad service im sorry im not tipping. then the server had the audacity to try and give us sass about not tipping. i told him i wasnt tipping for bad service and doing your job for you and he just laughs and walks away. great food and atmosphere but horrible customer service. also a kid of 11 years old had to pay for normal adult price which makes no sense
What guests say about Sushi Taketa
Sushi Taketa has an average rating of 3.5/5, with many very mixed reviews. Several customers like the freshness, variety, fast service, and atmosphere, especially for the all-you-can-eat sushi. However, others report incomplete portions, service that can be slow or rude at times, and a few very negative experiences related to the quality or organization. If you go, it’s best to go for the variety and fresh sushi, but pay close attention to your order and the service.

The quality of the food was good, but the service was relatively slow. We understand that the restaurant was busy, but this remains an area that could be improved. Finally, the tip options were calculated based on the total amount after taxes, which is contrary to the regulation that came into effect in May 2025. When we asked for clarification and a reimbursement, the employees showed us a document from Revenu Québec stating that a new regulation allows this practice. However, we were unable to find any information online confirming this. I would suggest informing customers in advance whenever your tipping practices differ from those of other restaurants. Greater transparency would help avoid confusion and improve the overall customer experience.
During the weekend, Taketa serves the best sushi when compared with similar all you can eat sushi places in the West Island. During the week the menu leaves a little to be desired. The staff is super friendly and attentive
Today was my girlfriend’s birthday, and we came here full of excitement and high expectations. Unfortunately, everything that happened made us regret choosing this restaurant. First, we waited almost 40 minutes before being seated. It wasn’t just us, many other guests who had reservations and arrived around the same time were also left waiting at the front desk. On a busy Friday evening, there were only four people working in the front of the house. Everyone looked exhausted, and the level of service was far below what one would expect from a restaurant in this price range. If that had been the only issue, we might have been able to overlook it. However, things became even worse after we were seated. We ordered salmon sashimi and sweet shrimp sashimi. The salmon sashimi was mediocre at best, but what really shocked us was the sweet shrimp sashimi, which had an unpleasant smell and taste that suggested it was not fresh. It honestly reminded us of the smell of garbage. As for the rest of the food, there is not much to say. The sushi was acceptable, but most of the other dishes felt like pre-made or mass-produced items. At this price point, customers should not be treated this way. We chose this restaurant because of the many positive reviews and hoped to spend a wonderful evening celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday. Instead, this dinner completely ruined our mood. There was essentially no real service. In fact, I wouldn’t even call them servers, they were simply food runners. They brought dishes to the table without any communication, without a smile, and even delivered the wrong dishes multiple times. Yet despite this level of service, customers are still expected to pay an 18% gratuity. I would strongly suggest that management schedule more staff instead of overworking the employees. The staff clearly seemed overwhelmed, and the restaurant was understaffed for the volume of customers. Overall, I hope anyone reading this review will think carefully before deciding whether to dine here. At nearly $60 per person, there are many better dining options available. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience from start to finish.
Best sushi/bbq you can get in Mtl at the moment. Hard to beat.
I waited 30 minutes for my SINGULAR ice cream
The food was very good, but the service was disappointing. Orders came out quickly for the first 30 minutes, then wait times became extremely long. We never received some items (including our lamb chops), and a few dishes were incorrect. The restaurant appears understaffed, especially on weekends. While the food quality was good, the experience did not justify the $41 price. Unfortunately, we would not return.
Amazing food and very friendly service!!
Ultimate favorite 😍 go on weekends for best options ☺️
All you can eat... Don't miss it!
Alright so at first the service is quick but after about 30 minutes the service gets way slower and sometimes you dont get the exact amount of food you ordered.Honestly theres a very low amount of workers they need more on the bright side the food is good👎
When you first come they serve you fast then after that they don't bring you water , you order and waaaaaaait until you get your order , I orderd 16 fruit sushi I got only 8 , I ordered ice cream it took them 15 min then I had to go ask for it . And after you stay an hour they don't take the empty plates . They should get more staff to serve. It's 50$ per person and we where 7, so for 350$ it's a very bad service.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
It was our first time. We went on a busy Friday, it's understandable that there would be a lot of people. But it took 2 hours for them to prepare our initial order of sushi and starters, we had to follow it up but we were told to order another batch so we did, they gave us the second batch of order and few minutes later they have given us the initial order. So disorganized. With all these being said, we don't know what went wrong. The service or the way they process their orders should be improved. PRICE: I personally think it just doesn't make sense that they charge 4 year olds who only eats a little for $18? I don't recommend this restaurant for family who have a 4 -year old and/or kids who picky eaters, it's not worth for the price you are paying. Not to mentioned for big groups you are obliged to pay 15% service fee regardless of the not so good service you have received. I liked their signature Taketa sushi though and the atmosphere is nice so they get a 3 star for those reasons.
Very disapointed of the food and service.
Beat sushi in West Island
Price is reasonable and quality is high. Waitress are so polite.
This is the best Sushi place. It never disappoints, always fresh and the servers are really nice. Special mention of Julia, she’s a great server and honestly makes the Taketa experience even better whenever she’s around.
I had an absolutely amazing experience at Taketa — easily a 10/10! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and beautifully set, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal. The sushi was incredibly fresh and full of flavor — you can really tell they use high-quality ingredients and put care into every dish. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the presentation was just as impressive as the taste. What truly made our visit stand out was the service. Julia was our server, and she was fantastic! She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she genuinely made the experience feel special. If you’re looking for great sushi and outstanding service, I highly recommend Taketa. I’ll definitely be coming back!
The whole family loves the sushi!! It tastes good and a lot of variety!
Good variety, great execution, and don’t skip dessert
Very good restaurant! The staff are very nice and attentive. We come here very often and recommend it.
Allen offered great service and really elevated our experience by helping me plan a birthday surprise. Very friendly and kind staff, will definitely be coming back. Thank you Allen!
VERY BAD SERVICE !
I had a very bad experience at this restaurant yesterday. The service was extremely slow, and the overall organization was very poor. My order arrived incomplete, with many items missing. At the same time, they brought several dishes that I never ordered, and other items I requested came in excessive quantities that made no sense. When it was time to pay, we chose not to leave a tip due to the poor service. Surprisingly, the manager added extra charges to the bill for items we did not order or agree to. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I felt taken advantage of and very disappointed. Customers should never be charged for items they did not order, regardless of tipping. I do not recommend this place at all unless they seriously improve their service, accuracy, and honesty.
Worst experience ever! Rude and unprofessional staff! Never coming back again to this place after being a loyal customer
