I’ve been to many all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants, but I always find myself coming back to this one. The food is consistently tasty, and the variety is great, from sashimi and sushi rolls to tempura, fried dishes, and even General Tao chicken. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and there’s something for everyone. 🍣✨
What guests say about Sushi Ste-Catherine
Reviews are very mixed: several customers find the sushi varied, fresh, and served quickly, with good value for the all-you-can-eat buffet. However, many point out service that is often cold, rushed, or rude, long waits, and poorly explained rules. Some also mention portions that are very rice-heavy, uneven quality, and a less pleasant experience depending on the time or how busy it is.

Inresponsable 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Worst sushi experience ever. We didnt have sushi, we had rice only lol. Extremely rude and condescending staff!!! Never go there! K2 is 5 mins away and had way better food and service.
Unfortunately, despite the very good changes they made to their appearance, the quality of their sushi was very poor. All their sushi was topped with breadcrumbs along with the rice, which makes the sushi bigger and makes you feel full quickly, thus completely ruining the taste of the sushi. It was my worst sushi experience.
Very disappointing experience as an English-speaking visitor to Montreal. The restaurant advertises “all you can eat” outside, but only in French. Once inside, we were given an English menu, yet nowhere on the menu did it explain that the pricing was for all-you-can-eat. Instead of helping clarify, staff repeatedly reminded us the kitchen closed at 10:30 PM and the restaurant closed at 11 PM. We ordered Ramen at 10:07 PM, only to have a staff member later ask to cancel it because the kitchen “wouldn’t have time” to prepare it. That was also the first time anyone explained the restaurant’s pricing and dining style. Even after canceling the order, we were still expected to pay $5.75 for drinks we didn’t enjoy. Overall, the experience felt cold, rushed, and unfriendly toward tourists and non-French speakers. Better communication, clearer menus, and a more welcoming attitude would make a huge difference.
Please go somewhere else for sushi. They roll way too much rice into the maki roles, the fish itself is not good quality, and overall not worth $50 per person. Service was even worse. At the end of the meal, I didn’t feel the quality or service was deserving of a tip after several mix ups and mid food. But after I paid, the waitress with glasses called me out in front of the whole table “reminding” me tip wasn’t included in the total and basically forced me to tip. Worst Montreal dining experience by far. Wish we’d walked out as soon as we sat down.
Rude staffs, HATE that they print the orders and check it manually , feels like a humiliation ritual and despite being all you can eat, they impose a thousand rules on when to order and what to order
Waitress are really pushy and tend to demand tips, host also talks down on us as if we were born yesterday. Food is good. It’s the reason why I go, but I do go in knowing that I’m going to have a bad experience. PLEASE DO TAKE OUT ORDERS AND EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE
This is my third time eating at Sushi Sainte Catherine, and this will forever be my go-to sushi restaurant in Montreal. If you want unlimited sushi, this place is perfect for you. The food always comes fresh, the choices are good, and the experience stays consistent every visit. Definitely one of my favorite spots in the city.
I haven't been there in years and the quality is gone
The staff today was very cold and didn’t talk once. I had asked where the bathroom were and the manager pretended like he didn’t know or understand English. One of the workers with blue hair didn’t speak to us once and just pointed and would stair at us but she was talking with other clients. This whole experience wasn’t it but their food was okay I guess. I’m not coming back because never once did I feel welcomed.
Portions are weird and small… Won’t let u pay with debit and they DO NOT make that known enough. Embarrassing I had to run all around trying to get cash… Never going back.
the service was abysmal and rude. we were sat without any instruction. we were given a physical drink menu and were waiting for a server. after about 8 minutes, the floor manager asked us if we need anything, and I replied we were just waiting on a server or menu. He rudely replied in an overly condescending voice " uh, the menu is right there", pointing to a QR code on a piece of plastic. I understand that a lot of the world has switched to QR codes, but we were given a physical drink menu and were given literally zero instruction when we were seated, so looking for a QR code wasn't my first thought. It was the attitude that they gave me that really rubbed me the wrong way. I feel like a guest should be able to ask a fairly innocuous question without feeling like a moron. how hard is it to say "oh! we have a digital menu, please scan the QR code here for all our options!" the food was ok. Some was better than others, but the cleanliness was questionable. Not once wereweaaked how anything was or if we needed anything. They didnt bring us any wasabi and I didnt see an option to order any. All around disappointing experience. There are like 30 other sushi places near by and almost all of them are a better option than this one
A wonderful ‘all-you-can-eat’ sushi restaurant, and somewhere I always make a point of visiting whenever I visit Montréal. Centrally located; tables are bookable online (very wise on a Saturday lunch as it’s very popular!). Bilingual and very friendly staff, always easy to call to the table for questions, discuss allergies, etc. Discount for seniors. Fixed price all-you-can-eat in 2 hours. The menu is extensive, embracing sushi, teriyaki, Udon, Chinese; and soft drinks are included! The quality is absolutely excellent and served very quickly. To order scan the QR on the table and order on your smart phone. The food comes within minutes.
The food quality has been lowered a lot, I went there after 1 year, and got disappointed! They bring the last part of order (a la carte) too late en perpose so the appetite would completely gone and you have to eat reluctantly/ don't recommend specifically with important companies for you
Great food great experience, however couldn’t use debit card
Null
This review is for takeaway. We have ordered twice at Sushi Ste-Catherine. Overall, the quality of the sushis is decent. We ordered here due to the competitive price-point, but you really do get what you pay for. The rolls were pretty sloppily-made on both occasions. The salmon quality is just ok, not as fresh as it can be in the taste, quality and appearance. We likely will not return even for the competitive price-point.
Worst service. Get ready to wait up to 40min for every other. Left without really enjoying the meal.
Food tastes good. Service was fast. The online menu was misleading. The manager said 3 times they will charge for any left over. The table next to us was charged extra for that.
Best place sushi!!!!! Still best sushi !!!
Always buying the 80 pieces. They think it's for 4-5 people, little do they no me and my devour it all alone
It seems they intentionally take the time and bring chip stuff first one by one and make you waiting for sushi and rolls. Very slow. The quality is below any expectations. Look at the photo - this is how much salmon you get. Also, the host is unfriendly even a bit rude despite of the smile. We left. The most disappointing sushi experience in Montreal.
They have a nice menu. The food was excellent and prepared with love. And, the price, awesome. Around $40 per person, dessert and beverages included (soft drinks).
We waited 25-30 minutes for each dish, while guests who arrived later and ordered more were served faster. We asked for wasabi and ginger— the waitress promised to bring them, but never did. There were two of us, and each of us ordered from our phones, but then the manager Koden told me in a harsh tone that we "should have ordered from one phone, not several," because "it makes their job harder," even though this wasn't stated anywhere, and he treated me with condescension. The sushi itself was sloppy, with very little fish. When we asked why it didn't look like the picture, the waiter simply said, "The ingredients are the same, just different rolls." One of our glasses arrived extremely sticky. No one warned us that payment was by credit card only, and they only told us this after we tried to pay, not even right before. At the end, when we were paying, we asked for the manager's name, and the waitress asked us to voice our complaints to her. When we refused, she began insisting and literally coaxing us to tell her, which made us feel very uncomfortable. After paying, the waitress also told me I forgot to leave a tip, which I find very inappropriate, especially after such service. However, I would like to say that they have delicious ice cream and unlimited drinks.
