Honestly, this was a very disappointing experience. The service was extremely poor — we waited over 30 minutes for our food with no apology or explanation at all. When the food finally arrived, it didn’t taste good and definitely wasn’t worth the wait. The staff seemed untrained and confused, and everything felt very disorganized. Even the way the food was served was chaotic, with dishes being placed randomly on the table. We also tried to speak with the manager, but unfortunately, they didn’t handle the situation well or offer any solution. Overall, a very bad experience, and we won’t be coming back.
Reviews / Ratings for Sushi Hin
We visited this restaurant as a group of 11 people, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing from start to finish. While we understand that large groups can be challenging, the level of service we received was far below expectations. From the beginning, the staff seemed unprepared and disorganized. It took a long time to prepare our orders, and there was confusion with multiple dishes—some meals were forgotten entirely, while others were brought out incorrectly. The timing was also an issue, as people at the table were served at very different moments, making it difficult to enjoy the meal together. Communication with the staff was frustrating. It was hard to get their attention, and when we did, our concerns didn’t seem to be handled with much urgency or care. Simple requests took far too long, and there was little follow-up to ensure everything was satisfactory. Overall, the poor coordination and lack of attentiveness made what should have been an enjoyable group outing quite unpleasant. I would not recommend this restaurant for large groups based on this experience.
Their salmon sushi pizza was so good, it was literally perfect! Their soups are also fantastic. Great location, perfect place to go before or after the mall since Fairview is right by it and plenty of parking as well.
Quality and taste are just not there. Ingredients are clearly not fresh. The place deserves at least a minor renovation and new chairs. Service is fast and efficient.
Beef Tataki was one of my favorite. They changed it to a worst one. The meat of Lamb Skewers isn't good anymore. Had higher expectations for the "one per order dishes", but that failed me too. The other usuals are acceptable?
I’ve noticed a sharp decline in quality lately. I’ve ordered delivery from here many times because it’s always been a great value-for-price, but my last couple of orders have been disappointing. The rolls have been arriving in poor shape , falling apart, and they’ve switched to imitation wasabi.
Such a shame, the best sushi place in Montreal turned out to be the worse one after the admin change or owner change…I have no idea what happened but I’m editing this post from a while ago and it’s breaking my heart to see what’s happening there. The new management ruined this place! I’ve been loyal to Hin for years, bringing my friends, family, girlfriend and new clientele and unfortunately since the Lunar new year we realized how crappy everything got! Language barrier , extremely long service, the waiters stay at tables talking to girls asking about their instagrams while people are waiting for food. What a shame Sushi Hin! I hope you answer to this post. Bring back the old management and bring back the old recipes!! The best tempura shrimps in a AYCE sushi ruined because of 1 recipe new staff and new ownership! Stop ruining such a good place! Or did you already ruin it unfortunately! I hope someone is reading those because I’m the 3rd or 4th person editing and older post! You have lost a valuable and loyal friend and client.
—- Update April 2026 —- What happened with this place? Today was one of the worst sushi I had in Montreal. Rice had no taste (imagine your rice cooker rice), soya sauce was watery and the owner response was « this is all we have ». AVOID, I will not be back. Sad for a place that use to be my goto. —- orignal review —- I have eaten all u can eat in more than 50 different locations in North America and I can say this is the best one. Food: rolls were very good but the sushi/sashimi were the real highlight! The quality of the salmon is excellent, fresh and the presentation is super nice. Service: super friendly staff, they sit you quickly and are very responsive Mobile app: you order on your phone, the app is sync between everybody on the table, if someone adds to cart, everybody get a notification
The "grill" menu should be changed to the boiled with no taste menu. The rolls weren't complete and would fall apart. I was curious as to why the everything we ordered was coming so fast. But I then realized why. The meats were barely cooked, sushi had no presentation and was rushed. I constantly asked for spicy mayo and it took them forever to get it. Honestly the two stars come from the ice cream I ordered. Besides that, miss me with this imitation for a sushi restaurant.
Absolutely the worst sushi buffet in the West Island. The sushi—supposedly the star—is soggy, mushy, and tastes awful. They’ve also taken away the stir-fried squid and mussels, which used to be decent. This place has gone downhill completely. Total waste of time and money—avoid at all costs.
showed up exactly at 4:30pm received only 4 small items on our first order missing 10 more items. Asked about our first order twice after waiting 1 1/2 hours. Meanwhile everyone who came after were receiving their second orders. Asked about it again and they came out with two orders quickly with sushi rice all squashed like it was something from last week or someone stepped all over it. Requested for the bill and mgr came out with his deal of over $100 dollars...no way!!! Walked out paying $30 unsatisfied. If they can send out a small order all squashed then they will feed you garbage without any hesitation....avoid this place like covid.
Food is really fresh and good, portion are quite big. But the order-and-service through your phone is just crap. Half of our orders never arrives and you never know if it's lost once for all so you can reorder or if you have to wait.
Really good !!
Since management got change, food is cheap qualitity and meat taste like Indian spice food. Also the last time I went there service was very rude and not bilingual. I wouldn't recommend at all this restaurant.
i ordered on uber eats for my parents and i. the seaweed was very chewy i almost choked ! 😵 fish was okay. just chewy seaweed. i used to come to sushi st jean and i think that was better
We had all you can eat dinner at sushi Hin. We had an amazing experience. Sushi was made with fresh ingredients, lots of variety and options. Wok shrimps were exceptional. Service was excellent. It was my daughter’s birthday they brought her green tea cheese cake, it was delicious. Highly recommended.
Prices going up food quality going down... sushi rice is now clumpy and over cooked... no more a go to place...
burnt food, slow service and not welcoming.
When it’s not busy it’s great. When it’s bus
Food was delicious but multiple items ordered were not brought to the table and some of the things that did come were not what we ordered. If you like delicious food and aren't picky about that shows up this is the place for you. If you are looking to get exactly what you ordered or spend less than 1.5 hours to get a decent amount of food this is not the place to go.
Decent sino-jap fusion foods, good ambiance. Reasonable price.
*EDIT REVIEW 2026* ''All Good things come to an end'' I have to update my review to give it a big fat 1 star. If I could give it negative stars, I would. What I experienced and ate yesterday was not what I had back when I made my review. The service was non existent, missing orders, lack of details to the dishes and attempts at replicating flavors... The 'Wasabi mussels' did not taste like wasabi and more like pesto mussels. I have reasons to believe management/ownership was changed and the new owners took a quick look at the pictures and tried to replicate the recipes. The 'Beef Tataki' had a similar spice blend to the first time I went but lacked the shallots to give it flavors. We could not even tell the difference between the beef and tuna tataki (see pictures) What I had was not 'Sushi Hin' but a TEMU version of it. This is going to be our last time here. Good bye *ORIGINAL REVIEW* One of the best sushi AYCE I’ve been in a while. The service, quality and choices of food is unmatched against other competitors in the area and in montreal. There is AYCE tuna sashimi!! WOW
I wish I could give less than a star.. I never had sushi before and I wanted to try it. It was so good and would love to have it again but I think I will never go to this restaurant or any other Asian owned restaurant ever again. The waiter were so shocked to see a black hijabi women who wants to eat alone. They literally did not know what to do with me. They kept staring at me for few seconds like I was at a place I was supposed not to be in. I was thinking “I’m hungry and I want to eat” but they looked so confused looking at me like I was something out of this world!! I felt disgusting and wished to disappear!! I am a truck driver and work few minutes away from this restaurant. I wanted to eat something different that day and thought let me try sushi. I will never in my LIFE try or go anywhere close to these restaurants. I see now why at my age I was always hesitant about going to restaurants. What a disappointment. Your a restaurant your supposed to feed your customers.. please welcome everyone. We are paying the food from you not sealing it. If you have standers.. then have a sign at the door. Maybe something like… “We don’t serve, single black Muslim person” If not you should see all your customers the same. Disgusting behaviour from the staff!!!
I was a bit disappointed by the food quality. All the tataki were super cold (the beef was a bit icey & the salmon felt like it was old). The nigiri fish to rice ratio was off. On another note the service was super friendly & fast, you can tell they are having a good time as a team. Worth trying out, but not for me.
Decent selection of sushi, the grilled salmon neck is a must have! One of the few AYCE sushi restaurants with child pricing under 12
