Good food, some items were better than others. Service was a bit slow at times as they are quite busy.

Mylène, our hostess, was awesome!! A fantastic venue; rustic charm; welcoming; well-organized; great home cooking. If you like breakfast, you cannot walk away hungry!! Loved this place.

Great place for what seems like traditional Quebecquois fare. Service was very friendly and very good. Food was good with a Maple syrup twist to many of the dishes. The place was full with large.family groups who all seemed to ave fun!

Great cozy rustic atmostphere. All you can eat wonderful meal. Great coffee. Friendly service. A reasonable drive from Ottawa/Gatineau. Recommended. My only suggestion is that it's not very maple sugar-centric. You could pour maple syrup over your sausages if you wanted, but the pancakes were served as dessert to the main meal and at that point, you're so full you barely want any. The tire d'érable (maple taffy on the snow) was great, but generally there wasn't much maple syrup-centric focus, the whole experience was a great traditional meal in a rustic environment, but not very maple-syrupy.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re really happy to hear that you enjoyed the cozy rustic atmosphere, the meal, and the service — it truly means a lot to us. Regarding the place of maple syrup in the experience, I completely understand your point. Since preferences vary a lot from one person to another — some enjoy things very sweet, others less so — we’ve chosen to let everyone adjust the level of sweetness to their taste throughout the meal, especially since maple taffy on snow is all-you-can-eat afterward. In addition to sausages, I personally like adding maple syrup to my pea soup — surprisingly delicious — as well as on my omelette. I definitely recommend giving it a try on your next visit 😉 We take your suggestion into consideration as we continue to improve the experience. Thank you again for your visit and your feedback — we look forward to welcoming you again!

As a Quebecer, I've been to many sugar shacks. This is one of the best ones I've been to. It took me back to my childhood. The food was absolutely delicious. Mylene was an excellent waitress. The sugar shack is a little chilly so bring something warm to wear.

Excellent experience all around. Started with peas soup, pickles, cole slaw, bread, cretons, and then came the omelette in a cast iron pan, beans, crispy bacon, sausages, potatoes, roast pork, all smothered in maple. Then we were hit with poudding chomeur, and if that wasn’t enough: pancakes, maple tartlets, and the classic maple on snow. We were stuffed to the gills, and very happy. Dining party included two kids, and they loved everything too. The building is pretty, the bathrooms are clean, and the staff are very friendly. If you want a sugar shack experience with good food, this is a great bet.

Firsr time experience. Great sugar shack. Just big enough to hold plenty of people without being overcrowded. The food was delicious and the service was super friendly. I would recommend without hesitation! 2026.03.14 Second time visiting Sucrerie du Terroir and no regrets. The location is calming, the main building (restaurant) and the sugar shack itself are rustic, the food is always delicious and generous, and the service is very attentive. The maple syrup on the snow before you leave is my favorite part.

I visited Sucrerie du Terroir around mid-April while on a trip to Ottawa. Even though it was towards the tail end of maple syrup season, I had an excellent time. I made a reservation in advance and was seated quickly during our reservation time. Although my nieces who have studying French were still quite shy to converse in French on my behalf. Staff were very friendly, and able to explain the meal to me in English. The meal was delicious, and we ever purchased some maple syrup to take home (at a very reasonable price, compared to purchasing at a grocery store). For a great French Canadian experience. I highly recommend this Cabane à sucre.
