Great spot. Food was great!
What guests say about Stash Café
Stash Café seems to be a very good option if you’re looking for tasty, hearty Polish food that is often described as authentic. The warm atmosphere, live piano, and intimate decor stand out a lot in the reviews, as does the quality of service in most visits. However, it’s worth noting that a few customers reported slow or problematic service, and some people found certain dishes less impressive.

Incredible. Absolutely tasty and perfect texture. Snitzel and Stroganoff. Would recommend both.
Polish menu with English subtitles. Lots of traditional polish dishes. Polish beer. Reservation is required otherwise talking a chance on seating. Was crowded when I ate there. On the expensive side. Located in Old Montreal. Small bar with seating.
Come (back) for the food and stay for the ambiance. The best authentic and traditional Polish food outside of Poland (and my mom’s kitchen). Very reasonable prices with the option of a three-course pre-set menu. Generous portions. Lots of meat but plenty of vegetarian options. The piano player is always playing when we are here.
Loved the food, ambiance, and service! Such a cozy and welcoming restaurant with delicious food and friendly staff. Definitely would come back again!
Third time at Stash Café...crazy busy Thursday night on a chilly May evening in Old Montreal. Place was packed, pianist playing tunes, warm atmosphere...our waiter Marco made us feel as though we were guests in someone's home. The service was fast but not rushed, warm but not pressing, the food was so tasty that our four-top ordered seconds. I couldn't ask for a better evening out with plump perogis, juicy sausages with tangy sauerkraut...so glad we decided to walk home to burn off some of those delectable calories!
First visit to Stash, can't wait to go again! Superb, delicious, authentic Polish food. We had krokiety, potato pancake, beetroot salad, pierogies, bigos & schnitzel followed by peach cobbler for dessert. Wonderful! Wine and mixed drink selection is good. Pleasant atmosphere and service was excellent.
Very nice 👌🏻
Testy and delicious pizza and burger
This has to be my favourite meal I’ve had in my 8 months of living in Montreal. Stash Cafe had been on my bucket list for months, but due to the busy schedule and shallow pockets of a student like myself, I had to put off making the trip to Old Montreal for a while. First of all, the restaurant itself is gorgeous. The ambiance is perfect with the soft piano and all the wonderful art to admire. The beef pierogis were so flavourful and paired perfectly with the peppery sauerkraut and sour cream. Exactly what I needed today after finals. I tried both desserts, and while I felt the apple cobbler was a bit lacking (too much crust/not enough apples, and I felt like it should have been served warm instead of cold), the sweet cheese crepe was life changing. I could have drank a bucket of the raspberry coulis mixed with the sweet cream. Our server was very friendly, the food came extremely fast after ordering, and the meal wasn’t even that expensive! Two main courses and 2 desserts for $56 is extremely reasonable for this level of quality and deliciousness. I’ll be returning the first chance I get after summer break!
Despite the food being flavorful and authentic, the overall experience was disappointing due to poor customer service. The staff came across as impatient, rude, and dismissive, which took away from an otherwise enjoyable meal.
Great experience! Fun atmosphere
Very good, authentic Polish food. The service is always amazing, and the live piano music is top tier.
Very good Polish cuisine. Tasteful decor with interesting Polish art work. Tavern style seating. Soft live piano music. Weiner schnitzel was classic. Veggie barley soup was tasty. The cabbage roll with pork and rice was quite good. Good place for classic tavern grub
Beautiful restaurant, variety of soups, i loved zurek, and the chicken sznycel is highly recommended!
Great taste and warm service!
Because we had booked in advance, we were given a great table in the corner by the window. This meant we had a view of the street but also soaked up the atmosphere without being in the lord centre of it. We loved the sound of the live piano playing. We wanted the herring to start but they didn't have any so I had the kielbasa with fried onion and strong grain mustard which was tasty, whilst my husband had the Ukrainian beet consomme which was very tasty indeed. We went for the debutant main course, a kind of taster plate. The food had nice flavours but for us it was too much stodge in one go and we couldn't finish it. We wish we'd ordered the schnitzel instead.
Pierogis are the best in town tbh (get debutant plate dont play)

Absolutely perfect Slavic food!! Really good cocktails too!!
Growing up Polish, we always celebrated holidays with traditional Polish cuisine. My mom would also pick times to make trays of gołąbki, or pierogi. As a child, I didn't really enjoy it that much, but as I got older, I more appropriately understood the comforting value of Polish cuisine. On a recent trip to Montreal, we visited Stash Cafe, and it was like I was teleported to my childhood, surrounded by happy people serving comforting Polish cuisine. They have all the dishes you would expect, and they are all uperb. I went with a cheeky order of gołąbki plus a kielbasa dish (because I had to try both). My wife had a veal cutlet, my daughter had bigos, and it was all terrific. Five stars to the team at Stash Cafe, I cannot wait to return. Montreal continues to exceed expectations with the culinary scene, and Stash Cafe took it to new level for me personally!
Me and my dad are from germany with polish background, the food tasted exactly like the food my grandmother served! Feels like Poland and it is basically poland🇵🇱🇩🇪🇨🇦 We were surprised at how good the food was, and the waitress also speaks good Polish. Come and visit this nice restaurant.
Atmosphere was great. Food is really not anything special.
Stopped here for lunch and was blown away. The prix fixe menu was amazing value - would highly recommend. The food was all hearty and delicious - as one would expect. The dill pickle soup was a fun surprise and the menu debutant and stroganoff were both top notch picks. My highlight was dessert - the peach crumble with fresh cream was absolutely amazing. The real special thing here is the ambiance though. The dim lights, wooden benches, and the pianist playing really elevated the experience. Everyone moving through the space was absolutely struck by how great it was. Make sure to bring some cash to tip them!
Cozy, pleasant, warm atmosphere with interesting decor, great service. Marcos was very friendly and helpful. We went twice since we enjoyed it so much and he remembered us which was sweet. As a second generation polish/ukranian I found all the food very similar to my grandparents and very satisfying. I recommend the variety plate (debutant) to try everything. The borscht is more of a light and bright special occasion version than a hearty stew which was nice to see - I haven't seen that in a restaurant before. Great area too.
