Really good corn on the cob which was passed out for free. It was actually tastier than the SMS meal that I had.
What guests say about Smoke Meat Pete
The reviews are very favorable for the smoked meat, often described as excellent, tender, and among the best in Quebec. Many customers also like the lively atmosphere, live music, and warm service. However, it should be noted that the place can get busy, the tables are sometimes close together, and many find the prices high compared with the portions.

Great food place Smoked bbq meats the mutts nutts
The lean smoked meat is delicious. HOWEVER (and this is why we will NEVER go back) the noonday atmosphere is horrible. If you don't get there by 11:30 a.m. you wait out in the sun (or rain, or cold) for up to an hour. Then you are herded into the small, shack-like establishment where the line is twice as long, as it winds its way up to the order counter. There, you pay (can you believe it? $22 for a lean sandwich! plus tax), receive your drink, give them your name, and then they bring your plate to your table (that is, if you can find an empty one!). The tables are so close together, you are constantly bumped into by the people whose chairs touch yours. Your order is brought to the table, with a fork, but no knife. They have loud music playing the whole time, and you should see the frustrated faces of the people who are in the herding line. The worst part for my husband and I was the "service." I no sooner had the last bite of my sandwich in my mouth, when a server came to the table and removed my plate!!! My husband was still eating his sandwich. As soon as HE had his last bit in his mouth (we still had our drinks - canned soda with a straw), WHOOSH!!! the server was there to whisk away his plate while ceremoniously asking if he was done. We still had soda in our cans, but were so discouraged by the whole experience that we left. The bill (before tip) came to over $58. For two sandwiches and two cans of Canada Dry ginger ale. If you are curious (like we were) because of the hype about Pete's, then go. But consider my honest review. Buy a box of Schwartz smoked meat at the supermarket, a loaf of fresh rye bread, and some yellow mustard, make it at home, eat at leisure, and be happier for it.
Best smoke meat in Montreal, although it is not IN Montreal. Great atmosphere, live bands almost every night.
Great smoked meat. Expensive, yes but that's just beef these days.
It's a great place to stop for a smoked meat sandwich!
Great service but the burger is over priced and probably shouldn't be served. Fries and pickles were ok.
Was recommended to us by friends and it was absolutely worth it. The Blues playing is unique and enjoyable. Food is delicious and fast. If you have never been you will need to order first then the servers take over from there. Servers were friendly and efficient. Loved that the menu was in English and French. Must go if traveling to or from Quebec.
Very good smoke meat although on the fatty side. Good R&B atmosphere.
Excellent food. Place require some maintenance and detailed cleaning.
Good food, but they have been increasing the prices more and more. 2 specials and a poutine for $77. It’s fast food not sushi. Expect to pay $30+ per person.
Stopped here on a drive into Montreal and the smoked meat did not disappoint. We ordered Pete's special and smoked meat poutine and both were excellent. The meat was flavorful and super tender. The menu and ordering process can be a bit confusing for a first-timer (order at the window, find a table, and the staff will bring out your food), but the staff was helpful and friendly. Would return in a heartbeat.
Wow.
Awesome Ribs and of course Awesome Smoked Meat! Big portions and delicious! Gave a 4 for service this time round cause the usual friendliness was not there and we had to ask for a take out box twice, maybe cause it was a Wednesday. The other times I've been on Thursday to Sundays and a full 5 on everything! Go enjoy Smoked Meat Pete's Jumbo Sandwich!!!
We got a sandwich to go from here because it was a recommendation from a stranger we met earlier on our trip. We just ordered a smoked meat sandwich without fries. It was overall pretty good. The meat was pretty tender and the sandwich itself was good. The bread was tasty and it had the right amount of mustard on it. Definitely go inside and sit down if you can though because inside is super cool and they have live music too.
Poutine seemed very cheaply made. Prices are excruciating for the quality
I came here because of friend recommend this restaurant to me. Now, I recommend it to! Good food, good service, I really liked it! Next time I will return at night to enjoy live music.
The ribs were decadent as well as the smoke meat. Pickles were awesome
Authentic restaurant with friendly service, interesting rustic decor, great live blues music, and amazing food. I tried the ribs plate, which was excellent and came with delicious appetizers like liver and sausages. I also had the smoked meat platter, and it was the best smoked meat I’ve ever tried. A great discovery! Portions are huge too. I always end up taking leftovers home and getting another meal out of it the next day.
Great smoked meat sandwich Neat little place that looks like it has a lively night life too. Featuring live Blues music 7 nights a week.
Very good smoked meat and the fries are decent, but the price is absolutely ridiculous!! It cost me for two plates and two drinks almost 100 bucks!! I will never go back there ever again!
Very tasty and fun place to hangout, just a bit pricey but worth it
Who won the best spots ever to get a smoked meat in a beer great atmosphere
The atmosphere would have been great if I could hear my partner speak. It was a Tuesday lunch time. Twice we asked to have the music turned down. Twice the waitresses indicated that their boss did not allow them to do so. One of the girls turned it down a little anyway and the boss came back in and turned it up. This is a message for the boss “read the crowd”. There were maybe 15 people having lunch, most were over 60 and were there to have lunch and discuss. No one wants to yell at their partner while having lunch. I would also note that we were NOT the only table that complained. There were 3 of us and another table of 4 wanted the music turned down. That’s almost 50% of patrons….. get the drift?
Best smoked meat poutine ever.
