Nice place for a more chic night out with friends or date, sort on the mid tier pricing when it comes to Japanese food, but the food can be a little hit or miss. Have had the tsukement and Khao Soi dipping ramen before and it was delicious, definately some of my favorite from them, their duck is always really good as well. Sushi fish is fresh, rice is done ok. Was a little dissapointed this time with the katsu steak, the 'self grill' new to the winter menu, it's quite minable. There's not much meat and the coating is rather flavorless and falls apart, it was also quite oily and moist so there was no texture to it. The sauces are ok, the miso butter is delicious, otherwise the "soy wasabi' doesn't really taste of much besides light soy sauce, the rest is just wakfu mayo.

Everything is perfect honestly, friendly service, Food 10/10 and Enviroment really premium. Affordable for everyone ✨❤️
Excelellent food. Fancy place. Good for a date, but a little bit noisy. There's no enough places to coats. Tables a little bit small and no much room between them. Dishes are fancy and not so expensive.
Arrived at 17:30 on a Wedensday evening. Resto was completely empty. Was told by short, long-haired host that he could only give us the tiniest table beside the plates/napkins trolley, everything else was booked. We accepted, although we shouldn't have. 2 hours and $200 later, the restaurant was only half full. Thanks to the host for judging us to be unimportant guests who only deserved the worst table in the house. No comment on the food since I was very irritated by our mistreatment, makes the meal much less enjoyable. Won't be returning.
Stylish decor, amazing food, helpful staff. Always a pleasure visiting this bar. Drinks are unique and tasty. Prices are very fair too, so your visit there leaves you in a very good mood.
Great atmosphere & reasonable price. However, the food isn't exactly great. At least all dishes look amazing!
It was fabulous. Noon on a Monday; there were only 8-10 other customers enjoying their lunch - so peaceful (more came in as we ate).. 70's music playing quietly in the background (our generation-we loved it). I loved my salmon tartar - delicious. He had the duck salad, which he also enjoyed. Our server was great. When we told him how much we enjoyed the music, he said it was his personal favorite golden hit's list. He said it was a totally different place in the evening - the joint would be hopping! I will definitely go back - but only for lunch.
My friend and I had a wonderful luncheon at Shushuto’s on Saint-Patrick Street in Montreal. We were warmly greeted at the door and were told to select the table we wanted. Our table service was prompt and in our own language, English, which we appreciated. One of the real benefits of Shushuto’s menu is that there’s something for everyone, sushi, Asian bowls, ramen dishes, and vegan selections. I ordered the Mango salad with grilled duck breast, and my friend ordered the salmon tartar. Both were absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed them. It should be noted that parking can be a challenge in the neighborhood of the restaurant, since there are more condo’s are being built and reserved street parking is on the rise. Reservations for lunch at Shushuto are generally not needed but they are a necessity for dinner. If you do reserve for dinner, add more time to your commute to allow for parking. Lunch at Shushuto was a great experience and one I hope everyone tries. I will definitely be back.
Unbelievable brunch! Best I've had in my many visits to Montreal. Mind you, I'm biased for Japanese cuisine. The cheesy udon was a surprise that I believe my picky aunts from Japan would have even liked. (If they could get over the amount of butter and cream.) Also, the steak katsu was tender, juicy and melt in your mouth! Don't miss the Sayonara Summer if you are into non-alcoholic like myself. I considered it my dessert. Price was well worth the food and art on the walls is so lovely. The koi and lotus flowers are all hand painted!
Take-out First time trying shushuto, and did so for the vegan sushi. It was DELICIOUS!!! The place has a really nice vibe, they were very busy (also a good sign) but still good service. This will be my go to for sushi and trying other menu items
Went here for a friend’s birthday dinner and we heard a lot of great things about the food and service. Safe to say, only one of those was true. To begin with, the food was delicious and it was at a reasonable price, so no complaints! Everything was going pretty well. The arrival of our food was quite slow, but i suppose to taste made up for it. We wanted the dessert menu later on and we had to leave at 8 due to another reservation. Hence, 30 minutes before we had to leave, we really wanted to order and pay. Our server for the night forgot about the menu and only gave it to us after 10 minutes after our initial request. We ordered and only 4 minutes before we had to leave did our food arrive. Mind you, we got two mango cheesecakes and the matcha ice cream. I don’t know how long it takes to prepare that but it took quite a bit. Not only was our server aware that we had to leave, he reminded us when we placed our order. Nevertheless, nothing to be pressed about. Our main concern was after we had payed and tipped, our waiter came to our table to ask whether we couldn’t pay for the tip or if his service was bad. Not wanting to be rude, we said his service was alright. He later went on a tangent about how our tip n didn’t cover 10% (it did)of the bill and that we should tip above that. At the end, he said that we should expect to be confronted about tipping in other restaurants and that we should tip more. This was not only extremely aggressive from his part, but frankly ruined our evening. I’ve lived here my whole life and this was quite the shock. Tip is optional and coming up to us afterwards to say that was not only rude, but not deserving of any tip. If you’re only being nice for money and then become rude if you don’t receive it, dont be shocked when seeing this.
Went to Shushuto last night for an early Valentine's day dinner. We had 2 of their signature sushi rolls to start, both large portions and delicious. We then followed up with the katsu steak that you cook yourself at the table. This tasted great and also a great value. It is served with rice, a miso soup and several dipping sauces/butter to cook. We ended with the duck confit yaki udon. Noodles were perfectly cooked and the duck was slightly overdone but still very good. Overall a very pleasant experience. The place has nice decor, the waitstaff was attentive and kind, the food was tasty, and although the pricing is in line with most restaurants around, the portions seemed larger than expected. Would recommend.
Great food and great service
It was good. But first course and sec were too close. Other than that food is good and not too noisy which is a plus.
Pleasant interior and lively atmosphere. Was not busy at all when we came in, enjoyed the 2010s songs lol. The food was delicious, although I asked my wife to order for me without telling me what it was I enjoyed everything on the table as well as the pancake for dessert. Paola who served ua was very nice and truly improved the experience!
service was ridiculously slow. sat at 6PM, first drinks at 6:43PM. pretty sure we saw our waitress twice in two hours?? food was good but for the price + service, not worth it. go somewhere else
Just ate here. Place is delicious. I had the mango salad with the fried soft shell crab and the spicy tan tan ramen with pork. Way too good for the price. I also had the 7th heaven gin and tonic and it hit the spot!
Food was absolutely delicious!
We’ve been one of the restaurant’s first customers, and it’s great to see how they’ve improved. They changed the menu recently — everything was tasty before, but now it’s even better. The service is fast, and the cocktails are really well made. We enjoy coming here and will definitely keep returning.
I saw this place on Instagram and wanted to try it because everything on the menu looked good. We got the char siu bao, the creamy crab paste udon, and for drinks, the Sakerita frozen and the Sakura. Unfortunately, I didn't like the crab paste udon because an hour later, you could still taste the crab paste in your mouth. The portions are really generous. Maybe I'll go back to try other things on the menu. Otherwise the service was excellent on a busy Saturday night
I had the award winning ramen and the cocomatcha. Both were great! It was my first time trying ramen. And honestly it was very soothing.
great drinks and meals
Sushi and cocktails were good. The rest was horrible. It was either too bland or too sweet. Also servers are very cold, quiet, and hostile and the service was very slow for my food to come in lukewarm.
Really good brunch, would recommend the award winning duck broth and the cheesy udon noodles!
10/10 would recommend. Good ambiance, great staff, the food was… wow, amazing.
