I was leaving for work for a few days so decided to bring my wife to a nice meal here at Sep Lai. We opted for the 5 course deal for 2 at 81 (crazy price). Not to sure what we were getting ourselves into. It was absolutely fantastic. The soup, spring rolls, salad, main dish and dessert each were worth every penny, service was super nice and quick and very romantic atmosphere. Remember to make a reservation tho cause it fills up.

🀄️蝈仁布偏🀄️蝈仁。包吃！憋莱！貴且孬吃 The chicken was burnt and all the dishes were quite salty, but that wasn’t the biggest issue. As soon as the waitress saw the tip, her attitude completely changed, and she left without saying a word. We actually left an average tip, but apparently it wasn’t enough. Tipping is discretionary and shouldn’t affect the level of service you receive… Unfortunately, both the food and service left a lot to be desired… The atmosphere was nice tho. Maybe a trip to Laos will help them to improve their cuisine. 😂

We really wanted to like this however didn’t and will not be back. We tried the “menu de degustation”, at $80. The coconut soup had little flavor. The papaya salad tasted old and had a faintly chemical taste that was unlike any fermented food that we have had. The caramelized noodles with chicken were so so. The service is friendly and the outdoor terrace is cozy. All in all $104 for 2 people was a blatant overcharge for bland and tasteless Laotian food (we have had Laotian before in Laos). We will not be going back and would certainly not recommend it.

I met a friend here for dinner tonight and I cannot wait to go back. I have never been to Laos, but I was very impressed with the food and the atmosphere. The personnel are very kind and patient - they take the time to explain all the food and what would best suit you and your companions to share. There is a limited amount of table space, so it pays to make a reservation. The outdoor patio is beautiful and feels very secluded from the nearby streets.

They have tons of vegan options well indicated and some items can be made vegan on demand. Everytime they use fish sauce or other things like that, they indicate it. So very friendly for different diets and allergies. The food was sooo good, portions are perfect and prices are pretty fair. So all in all I very much enjoyed my experience. And the terrace in the back is very pretty and cozy, I warmly recommend trying Sep Lai (went with my friend from Laos, she liked it too !!)

Great little spot in Pointe-Saint-Charles. I came here with some friends in late summer which is a good time to come as they have a quaint outdoor area in the back. We ordered about 10 different dishes and pretty much every one was excellent. We particularly loved the crispy chicken skins, pork skewers and fresh mango salad (medium spicy). Family style (sharing a bunch of dishes) is definitely the best way to experience this restaurant, though I definitely did wish I had a few plates all to myself. The food felt very authentic, though I've never been to Laos. The waitress was very helpful and friendly and the service was just right. Love the BYOB/W aspect as well of course, and they also serve mocktails if that's your thing. Easily recommended, would definitely return.

I had diarrhea after eating here…it might be because of the moldy lettuce in one of the dishes. By the time I discovered it I already ate some of it. Showed the lettuce to the waitress, she just said she’s going to replace it. No apologies or anything and in the end we paid and left. The taste of the food was meh. But the moldy lettuce was a big no.

1st, i am Lao, and i can assume i'm an expert on Lao food, eating what mom have been cooking since i was born. Cozy atmosphere, we ordered 6 different stuff on the menu to try them all out. food is good and represents well the lao cuisine. the only thing that made me grudge a little bit was the price for a portion of khao niew, 8$ per portion (I have unlimited quantities at home). But then i came to think about how long it is to prepare that type of rice so it is justified. Congrats to the team behind the kitchen who are able to prepare that much different items without loosing on the quality!

What an amazing experience! At first I wasn’t sure what to eat since I don’t like fish sauce, but then I found out they can make most of the dishes without it upon request! Many of the dishes can be made vegan as well. The terasse is cozy and magical, and the food is so fresh and flavourful! This has quickly become one of my favourite restaurants. Highly recommend! ❤️

The food looked really good and was beautifully presented, but unfortunately it was lacking flavour. We tried several dishes and they were all quite bland, with very little spice or seasoning. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, but I wouldn’t come back for the food. Hopefully they can improve the flavours because the presentation was promising.
