A very accessible ramen restaurant located in downtown Montreal, just a 5-minute walk from Guy-Concordia metro station. The atmosphere is calm and pleasant, and the staff—often Japanese—are very friendly. I do find the menu a bit limited for people who aren’t big fans of pork, like myself. However, there is a chicken ramen that I’ve had twice and highly recommend, especially with the spicy sauce you can add for $1. Prices are quite reasonable. If you enjoy chāshū (braised or marinated pork slices, belly or shoulder), there are three options to choose from depending on your taste.

I've been a big fan of sansotei over the years and this was my first time at the Mackay location. Unfortunately, it didn't measure up. The tonkotsu black was bland - both the broth and the chasu pork lacked the full rich flavour I was used to and the noodles were slightly overcooked. The chasu is also sliced super think like a cold cut so the value is not there either. No one came to ask how we liked it. Maybe this is the sad reality with multiple franchises but I won't be returning to Sansotei again.
