We were charged $45 per person, but the menu options were very limited across appetizers, main course, and dessert. There was no à la carte menu available either. The appetizer portion was extremely small, although the taste was good. For the main course, there was only one chicken option. I requested my butter chicken to be spicy, but it came out quite sweet instead, which I genuinely didn’t enjoy. The main course overall was not up to the mark. On a positive note, the dessert was excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal. Wasted $100 on valentines over the food we didn’t like!
5/5 Stars – Hands down the best Indian food I’ve had in Montréal! I recently visited this incredible Indian restaurant with my family, and it was an absolute standout experience from start to finish. The chef here is clearly very experienced and passionate – you can taste the authentic touch in every single dish. It’s like having a master cook prepare a home-style feast with perfect balance of spices and flavors. The naan was phenomenal – fresh from the tandoor, soft, fluffy, slightly charred on the edges, and buttery in the best way possible. We ordered garlic naan and plain, and both disappeared in minutes because they were that good! Paired perfectly with the curries. Speaking of the curries, they were superb – rich, aromatic, and full of depth without being overwhelmingly spicy (though you can ask for more heat if you like). We tried the butter chicken, paneer tikka masala, and a lamb curry – all were flavorful, creamy where they should be, and the spices were layered beautifully. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh and made with care. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it ideal for a family outing. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they made sure our kids enjoyed their milder options too. No rush, comfortable seating, and the whole place felt inviting. This is easily the best Indian restaurant I’ve come across in Montréal – authentic, delicious, and worth every penny. We had such a great time that we’re already planning our next visit. Highly recommend to anyone craving real Indian flavors! Will definitely be coming back soon. ❤️
We had a nice dinner at Rutba and explored quite a bit of the menu. The appetizers were definitely the highlight! The Mahi Moti was perfectly crispy on the outside with lovely flaky fish inside, and the Banarasi Cutlet had a great crunch and a surprising little kick of spice that we really enjoyed. For the mains, the Mewa Mawa Kofta was a standout—the curry was incredibly smooth, rich, and flavorful. We paired everything with the Naan au beurre, which was fresh and hit the spot. The only slight disappointment was the Lamb Biryani. We ordered it medium spicy, and while the flavor was there, the consistency was a bit watery, which isn't quite what you expect from a biryani.
Not as good as it it used to be when it opened, maybe they switched their chef or focused more on marketing on Instagram but the quality went down. The food taste is not consistent
Went for mtl à table once and I really liked it. Then I ordered food from there again and it was so oily and average. The butter chicken was really sweet, the Bengali fish curry was blend but the fish was soft and good. The lamb rogan josh was not spicy. I’m bit disappointed..
Absolutely amazing place. The food is sooo good (and very enjoyable for a low spice tolerance person like me). It is so generous and tasty. The menu isn’t expensive and the portions are very big. Plus, the atmosphere is calm, with low very chill music, which is appreciated with food like that I find. The servers were extremely kind and helpful. Honestly, a well-decorated cozy cute and delicious gem!
New episode of On The Boulevard brought us to Rutba Indian 🇮🇳 and wow. Make a reservation. I naively didn’t, and we almost didn’t get to experience this absolute majesty. Service was through the roof (Simran you’re amazing🫶) everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the flavours seriously delivered 🌶️🔥 One of those meals where you’re already planning your return before you’ve paid the bill. Will be back to try everything else. 100% ✅
The Hidden Gem!! Loved everything about Rutba Restaurant! From the tasty food to their excellent signature drinks, everything was top-notch. Simran, our server, was incredibly friendly and professional. She made us feel very comfortable and well taken care of.
Loved this Indian spot—4 stars for killer butter chicken, fluffy garlic naan, speedy friendly service, and unbeatable value! Bursting with flavor, though the wait was a tad long on a busy night. Still highly recommend for a tasty night out!
Excellent food and amazing service. We have ordered a few times while coming back from Montreal. The food tastes amazing all the time. They take care of allergies too. 10/10 great food and service. Highly recommend visiting them. Their Lehsooni kebab is delicious.
Korma is where its at lamb one! 10/10! Thanks simran!
Great food Friendly & caring staffs Nice atmosphere
One of the best indian cuisine in town👌🏻
Best Indian food in town. Absolutely amazing. Everyone was also so nice. Simran offered a wonderful service ! Will come back for sure.
Must visit for Indian food lovers Everything I ate was delishhhh Must eat samosa and pani puri for starters😍
Nice friendly servers, food came very fast, it was very tasty, I just wish it was more real Indian spicy lol but I understand people here are not used to, definitely recommend it and will come back again
What a wonderful experience! I went to dine with young kids, the staff was smiling, helpful and fun! The amount of times they came to enquire if we were ok and if everything was fine showed how much they care about their customers. The food was delicious. Montreal lacks good Indian food and Rutba fulfils that lack for sure! Amazing experience! I will always go back!
Love the food and vibe and the staff was friendly and nice
Honestly, this place is all hype and nothing else. The food was disappointing and not worth the wait or the price. Even after making a reservation in advance we still had to wait around 30 minutes for a table. The space is extremely tight and uncomfortable, which made the whole experience awkward. The atmosphere was not enjoyable at all. Overall, this restaurant survives on hype, not quality. Definitely not coming back. As I recommend MASAKALI is far better than them. NO RESERVATIOS AND NO WAITING for the table. I wish I could give them 0 stars 😏
Food was very good and hospitality also
Best Indian food in the neighborhood with live music
Great food and service.Simran was very polite ,friendly .she made our dinning experience really pleasant.Highly recommended
A true Indian cuisine in downtown Montreal. Our family is very happy about the food. They are quite busy. They don’t allow us to call and reserve a table. This restaurant is first come first serve. We arrived around 18:20. We waited not long because the staff tried to find a table for 6 of us. The restaurant is not big so all tables are very close to each other. Food is awesome, real Indian taste. I love all curries especially lamb curry. Naan is soft and nice. Paneer dish and chicken tandoori are flavorful. Service is attentive. Thank to Miss Simran. She is great and smiles all the time. We will definitely come back.
Last night's experience is now an interesting dilemma. I had invited a friend. We ate well. The food was excellent. I paid the bill for both of us. And I added 15% tip. The total was $111 CAD. Ten minutes after paying, we were asked nicely to leave, because that same table needed to be cleared as they had a reservation. We were using a table for 2. And other tables were free, for up to 6 people. I asked the waitress for some explanation and I was discarded, as if the whole case was settled already. It was too late but, for the sake of the restaurant, here is some advice. ONE, if you're sitting people at a table, let them know that you have a reservation for that table at whatever time, and let them know, before they order. TWO, if it's your habit to send people out after they've paid the bill, let them know ahead of time, so that they won't leave you a tip that they now regret leaving, very much so. THREE, if I'll order again, it will be via the delivery service, as no one can kick me out of my dining room. My conclusion? Go for the food but not for the service. Oh, as a reference, last night, Thursday night, there was a man and a woman, as waiters. It's the woman who kicked us out, after we paid.
