Reviews / Ratings for Rutba - Indian Cuisine
The flavors are on point! It's a famous place among locals too. Must must must try when in Montreal. Their in house paneer was so fresh and soft!
Amazing food, but the service needs a personal touch. The Good: We visited Montreal for the first time and chose Rutba based on its excellent reputation. The food certainly lived up to the hype—everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere and seating were comfortable, and most of the staff were polite and professional. The Critique: Unfortunately, the experience was dampened by one individual (who appeared to be the owner or a senior server). We felt an air of superiority and a lack of warmth that made us feel unwelcome. In a city where everyone else was incredibly friendly and welcoming, this stood out in a negative way. Verdict: The flavors are 5-star, but the management could benefit from training their staff on how to engage neutrally and warmly with every customer. We loved the meal, but we hope the hospitality matches the quality of the kitchen next time.
We have visited Rutba today for our dinner . The ambiance was quite attractive to be honest. Food was ok and justifying the price. Only thing we don’t like is we asked for one tea and they refused saying we cannot make tea for just one. Every single dollar counts right? No other restaurant i have visited before refused for one tea cup . That shows the Im professionalism. We still head out giving tip because i know restaurant business can be exhausting but it doesn’t justify neglecting customers demand .
Maple butter chicken was insanely good
Trendy place with tasty food and great drinks. Portions were appropriate. Food was flavourful, and the spice level can be adjusted to your taste.
Absolutely delicious food, really cute place. Will be back!
Very good, food delicious very tasty. Sim was also super nice waitress, recommended restaurant
The food and service were both great.
Attentive and friendly service from Sim and others. Best Indian food we’ve had in Montreal in terms of flavor, creativity and presentation. The place was vibing with the cool decor, happy customers, sounds of drinks being mixed, and the guitar player! It was a Friday night.
Amazing food, great service, such kind and accomodating staff... our waitress, Sim, was too kind! even played a bday song for me... will definetly be back
We had a lovely night with a light snow falling outside. This restaurant was warm and inviting. Wonderful food, great service!
Went here twice and three days. Great selection, not too expensive, and great vegetarian options. No wait for a table. Easy to make a reservation. Recommend the okra curry.
Bestest food.. Even the breads are awesome. We got one cheese and one bagel naan, It was full of flavours and cheese bursting in mouth. We got the bok choy chat.. which was amaaazinggg.. shrimp curry was great as well.. and on that even though we were so full, we couldn't resist getting the mango cheesecake.. which was the best cheese cake I ever had.. And the server, Simran.. She's so welcoming and happy face.. loved her.. Definitely visiting again n again.. They know what are they doing.. And they love it as well..
I don’t know how to fully express how good it was. The taste was perfect, exactly like the food from my hometown. The servers were incredibly kind and sweet, which made the experience even better. I absolutely loved the overall experience and would definitely recommend it as one of the best Indian restaurants in Canada. ( I ordered Chicken Gilafi Kebab 10/10, malai kofta curry 11/10 and Gulab jamun with icecream 9/10)
Delicious food and great service. Sim was our server and she was very sweet and helpful. Would definitely come back, the Korma was amazing!
The food is great, the ambience is cute and also the Indian music in the background.
Our first visit to Rutba was such a delight — tasty food, cozy ambiance, and friendly service. We may have ordered a bit too much, but everything was so good it was hard not to. The star for us was the Telangana chicken curry: bold flavors with curry leaves giving off a beautiful perfumed aroma. The lamb rogan josh was also a favorite. We couldn’t resist the Rasmalai Tres Leches dessert, which did not disappoint. The flavors of cardamom, rose, and pistachio in this tiramisu-style sweet were divine — a perfect way to end a wonderful meal. The space is casual and comfortable, and the staff are attentive and kind. We’re already planning our return for the samosa chaat, one of their many butter chicken variations, and another round of that Rasmalai dessert.
Amazing food and service in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Sim was our server and she’s great, as have been the other servers on two other visits. It seems like a well-run business with owners and staff that really care.
FOOD, 🤩 SERVICE, 👌 ATMOSPHERE ♥️ REWARD YOURSELF, GO THERE AND LIVE THE MOMENT. 🏆 THATS IT. Coming here everytime I travel to Montreal. (Btw putting a review in middle of dinner - couldn’t resist myself)
Really tasty samosa and chicken korma. $60 with tip but I ate enough for two 🤣🤣👌🏻
Had really high expectations but unfortunately this place is just alright nice place nice people but it kind of felt like watered down Indian food for white people I mean it was ok but where was the vodka in my martini and the butter chicken tasted like it had more sugar than spice not bad but not good either
Incredible meal!!!! The kindest staff. Everything was so delicious.
We were charged $45 per person, but the menu options were very limited across appetizers, main course, and dessert. There was no à la carte menu available either. The appetizer portion was extremely small, although the taste was good. For the main course, there was only one chicken option. I requested my butter chicken to be spicy, but it came out quite sweet instead, which I genuinely didn’t enjoy. The main course overall was not up to the mark. On a positive note, the dessert was excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal. Wasted $100 on valentines over the food we didn’t like!
5/5 Stars – Hands down the best Indian food I’ve had in Montréal! I recently visited this incredible Indian restaurant with my family, and it was an absolute standout experience from start to finish. The chef here is clearly very experienced and passionate – you can taste the authentic touch in every single dish. It’s like having a master cook prepare a home-style feast with perfect balance of spices and flavors. The naan was phenomenal – fresh from the tandoor, soft, fluffy, slightly charred on the edges, and buttery in the best way possible. We ordered garlic naan and plain, and both disappeared in minutes because they were that good! Paired perfectly with the curries. Speaking of the curries, they were superb – rich, aromatic, and full of depth without being overwhelmingly spicy (though you can ask for more heat if you like). We tried the butter chicken, paneer tikka masala, and a lamb curry – all were flavorful, creamy where they should be, and the spices were layered beautifully. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh and made with care. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it ideal for a family outing. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they made sure our kids enjoyed their milder options too. No rush, comfortable seating, and the whole place felt inviting. This is easily the best Indian restaurant I’ve come across in Montréal – authentic, delicious, and worth every penny. We had such a great time that we’re already planning our next visit. Highly recommend to anyone craving real Indian flavors! Will definitely be coming back soon. ❤️
