We came back to Coco Rico after two years because we had such a great memory of their roasted chicken—and this time, the experience was even more special. We had the privilege of meeting Concepción, the owner, who shared the beautiful story behind the restaurant. Her father came from Portugal in the 1960s and built this family business from the ground up. What makes it truly unique is that, after all these years, they are still using the original recipe he brought with him from Portugal. Concepción is absolutely charming—like a mother welcoming you into her home, serving you authentic, homemade food that warms both your stomach and your heart. It’s a true luxury for Montreal to have a place with this level of quality, not only in the food but in the human connection. If you’re in Montreal, even if you’re not a chicken lover, you simply have to come here and try it. And don’t leave without tasting the pastéis de nata—I can honestly say they’re just as good as the ones you’d find in the best bakeries in Lisbon. A favorite spot we’ll always come back to—where you feel right at home

I’ve been to this restaurant a handful of times, and I’ve noticed a pattern. If you go during the lunch rush (11:00 AM to 1:30 PM), the chicken sandwiches are good. However, any time after that, the quality drops significantly. The chicken is often dry, cold, and drenched in oil—maybe in an attempt to reheat it? For a $12–$13 sandwich, it’s disappointing to pay a decent price for a craving only to feel sick later.

I always use it for takeout but the chicken is great with lots of flavor. Great natas too.

Classic Montreal spot. Great rotisserie chicken. Potatoes and natas are some of the best

Their lamb sandwich was so good. A kind lady (maybe the owner?) recommended it to me and proposed to do it her way. So I decided to try it out and it was the best lamb sandwich I've had so far. So tender and juicy.

This was my first time trying pastel de nata .The pastry is light, flaky, and buttery, while the filling has a custard-like texture, more on the firm side rather than runny. Worth trying if you’re curious about this classic Portuguese pastry.

I recently went to Coco Rico, and I honestly can’t stop thinking about how good the food was. This place delivers on every level — flavor, value, and overall experience — and it’s one of those restaurants you immediately want to tell people about after your first visit. I ordered the chicken sandwich with potatoes, and it was absolutely outstanding. The chicken itself was perfectly cooked: juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. You can really tell it’s prepared with care and experience — nothing dry, nothing bland, just incredibly satisfying from the first bite to the last. The potatoes that came with it were just as impressive. They were creamy, rich, and comforting in the best way possible, almost melting in your mouth, and paired perfectly with the chicken. Together, it felt like a simple dish done exceptionally well. The staff deserve a huge amount of praise. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to help. You never feel rushed or ignored, and that warmth really adds to the experience. It’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable right away, whether it’s your first visit or your tenth. One of the most impressive things about Coco Rico is how amazingly affordable everything is. For the quality of food you’re getting, the prices are more than fair — and the portions are huge. You leave feeling full, satisfied, and genuinely surprised at how much value you got for your money. It’s rare to find a place that combines generous portions, great prices, and excellent food so consistently. This is absolutely a spot I would recommend to all family and friends. It’s perfect for a casual meal, a comforting lunch, or even bringing someone who’s never tried Portuguese-style chicken before. Speaking of which — if you love Portuguese food, this place is a must. The flavors, the preparation, and the overall heart behind the cooking really shine through. Coco Rico is the kind of restaurant that reminds you why you love discovering great local spots. Delicious food, amazing value, friendly staff, and a meal that leaves you happy and already planning your next visit. Everyone should try this place at least once — chances are, once won’t be enough. After having a great meal at this place, I went over to Champs and got zooted in $5 PBRs

Impressive portions! The family meal portion and taste was great value for the price. I am impressed. Not many places offer this much in 2026! Ordered online too, I was expecting lower quality and smaller portions. They honestly surprised me and I will definitely save to store and order again! The chicken was tender, skin was crispy, bread and salads were fresh, and I think I got a full 4 pound bag of potatoes hahaha! Not even kidding! How is this even possible!? Loved it! Highly recommend!
