Lighting around some tables were very dim(some foodies need light for those photos and you know the girlies love photos)😆 , food was great and the service also but the wait was quite awhile, I don't know if it was because of the amount we ordered or how much people were there . (I think it's better to reserve reservations) Because on the weekends it's going to be full .
Reviews / Ratings for Romies
Burger and pasta way too salty and they didnt really fix it even if we were a big table there for a bday
If I could give their service 1000/10 I would. Franc at the host table was exceptional at making our trip to Montreal and this restaurant memorable. We came from Toronto to celebrate my sisters birthday and this restaurant was truly the highlight. From the food to the atmosphere, Romies Montreal is our new favourite restaurant! TIP: you MUST get the blackout cake, soooo good!
Jeffrey must have been having a bad night. The food was tasty but his service was off from the beginning, it genuinely felt like he hated us. Was rude and not attentive, on a Tuesday night. Don’t understand why he had an attitude, it was off-putting, alongside the good food. Couldn’t even crack a single smile and was rough with the water, menus, and bills.
food was amazing and such a good vibe inside!
The zucchini and the crudo are what keeps me coming back! Lovely spot in old port that doesn’t break the bank and has good vibes!
I never took the time to leave a negative review, but this was by far the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Our server had a severe attitude throughout the night. When our cold dessert took over 40 minutes and we politely asked about it, he shrugged us off and later dropped it on the table without saying a word. The table next to us even found a large shard of glass in their food, and there was a mistake on their bill at the end of the night. To make matters worse, there was a mistake on my bill as well that I noticed after paying. When I brought it up, the server simply dropped the cash for the error on the table and walked away. I returned the cash and asked for a proper refund and repayment to simplify things, I noticed on my statement the next morning that the credit was incorrect and I was actually credited less than I should have been. After following up by email, one of the owners confirmed the mistake, they offered a $50 gift card instead of correcting the charge. Given the experience, I politely asked for a simple credit instead, my emails suddenly stopped going through (my email was blocked). I resent the message from another email address which did go through, but that one was completely ignored. Despite remaining respectful the entire time, the restaurant clearly had no interest in resolving the issue…. Extremely disappointing. UPDATE (after owner response): I’d like to clarify a few points raised by the owner. Firstly, I never claimed that I was charged twice; I simply stated that I was incorrectly charged, which you acknowledged in your email. Secondly, my follow-up email from a different address went through immediately after the original one didn’t, which makes the explanation about your email issues very difficult to believe. Thirdly, while a $50 gift card was offered, it was never actually provided (nor did I request it), and the billing error was never corrected on your end. I ultimately had to contact my credit card company to have the charge reversed… even after you regained access to your emails since being “hacked” last week. Lastly, it’s disappointing that you chose to ignore the other points raised in my review, as well as in several other reviews criticizing the service you claim to ensure is “great.” If issues like these are not acknowledged, it’s difficult to see how the service can improve.
Loved the experience. Drinks were great, everything that I had was a big hit and super tasty. Great vibe amazing time and the team serving us was very cool!
For the high prices I don’t think it met expectations. The wine glasses are also extremely small.
We were a group of 15 people, the food was really good, we had the group menu with tons of options. The atmosphere was good, its warm and a little bit dark. The desserts that we had (cheese cake and chocolate cake) were not that good, they tasted like box cakes. Also, some of our group members were having issues getting additional drinks, the waiter was not paying attention if we needed more drinks or bread. Overall good but just to go one time.
Personally I found this place pretty mid. It’s a place to go for the vibes and appetizers than the actual food. The fried zucchini was delicious! I would go back anytime for that. Everything else was super meh. The pasta was actually not that great. There was so much cheese that it was a bit disgusting to eat and the flavours were nothing special. Very basic. I know the pasta has gone very viral and I had very high hopes but overall it was super disappointing. Any influencer/content creator that pushed this pasta forward has definitely lost all credibility. Overall I would only go back to enjoy the fried zucchini and grab food+dessert elsewhere. You can buy a whole cake for the price you pay for a slice of cake…which again is nothing special or worth paying for.
Amazing experience there, highly recommend !!!!
Elevated american bistro. Simple menu with solid options. Love the interior.
Overall a great experience, the service was pleasant, Adam took good care of us and helped with some suggestions as well. The room had a very nice warm atmosphere and the food was great. I would highlight the fried zucchini and the steak. I’ve had better caesar’s and fries but everything was yummy. You could tell the staff enjoyed providing a pleasant evening and they did a great job at doing so.
honestly don’t write bad reviews often, but this experience deserves one. I chose Romies because I liked the restaurant. I’ve been there before, enjoyed the food and the vibe, and trusted them enough to plan a surprise dinner for a special occasion. That was clearly a mistake. I reached out well in advance to coordinate something very simple. I contacted them multiple times: – via Instagram DM – via email – and even in person, where I explained everything clearly Despite all of this, I received no response for over a week. No confirmation, no follow-up, nothing. Planning a surprise is already stressful, and being completely ignored by a restaurant you’re trying to work with makes it unnecessarily frustrating. What’s worse is that even after explaining everything clearly — including very basic, low-effort requests — absolutely nothing was done. We specifically asked for candles on the table. This was mentioned more than once, through different channels, and even acknowledged in person. When we arrived? No candles. No preparation. No effort. The surprise was essentially ruined, not because the request was complicated, but because the restaurant simply did not care enough to follow through. If you don’t want to accommodate special occasions, that’s fine — just say so. If you’re too busy to respond, say that too. But ignoring messages, failing to communicate, and then completely dropping the ball on the day itself is unacceptable, especially from a place that presents itself as polished and attentive. This was especially disappointing because I went out of my way to choose Romies out of loyalty. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt dismissed and overlooked. Food and ambiance don’t matter if the most basic level of professionalism is missing. If you’re planning anything important, do yourself a favor and don’t rely on this place to handle it.
Delicious food, great vibe and super attentive and friendly service. Will be back!
I took the rest of my meal out & at home i found out that fries don’t have good quality & i think drink was too pricey $$$ I ❤️ atmosphere & staff were friendly.
Food is good but not outstanding. Atmosphere and service was amazing
We had an amazing experience at Romie’s. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and our waiter Frank was truly exceptional! attentive, friendly, and professional. We’ll definitely be back!
I have read some mixed reviews prior coming to Romies but I still wanted to give it a try during my recent visit to Montréal. Overall I like their food but there were some improvements I would like to suggest. They didn't really have a big menu, and if they have printed on the menu I would have expected they were available to order. When I tried to order the steamed clams main dish, our server told us it was not available. And that's the only thing they didn't have on that day. I understand but also disappointed, why couldn't they told us right from the beginning? Rather than spending 15 minutes deciding what to order and then only to figure out it's not available. The food tasted good in general but some of the items were not hot enough in my opinion. The fried zucchini was just warm but not hot. And the NY striploin dish, the side dish hashbrown also just warm but I wish it could be more hot and crispy. The Brooklyn blackout cake looked good but I actually enjoyed their butter pecan sundae more.
