Went for lunch with my bestie. Had the best smoked salmon and latke I’ve had in a long time. Super friendly and very attentive service. Amazing experience. Will be back again and again
Reviews / Ratings for Restaurant Yans Deli
Hidden gem 💎 best Deli in town topped with consistently great service !
My goodness, what incredible food! Yans made several of the best dishes/types of food I’ve ever had. Their pastrami, latkes, and chicken noodle soup all fell into that category. Their espresso drinks and the desserts were fantastic. We loved the decor in the restaurant, comfortable, stylish, and with and with personal flair. The servers were welcoming and accommodating of the two toddlers we were with. They both loved the grilled cheese sandwiches they had too. I’ll be dreaming about this food for a while.
We love Yana. Best food, great quality and care goes into each dish!! Their BLT is the best I’ve tasted! And how sweet is it that all meals are served on Ben’s ( the owner) grandmother’s dishes! Definitely recommend trying out Yans. You won’t be disappointed!!
Amazingly amazing
Got the chicken soup, party sandwich, and the fruit bowl. Everything was excellent!
My husband and I had been at Yann’s a few times for lunch and had absolutely loved it, so when I saw that they had a menu for Passover I didn’t hesitate to order. We had the schnitzel, the pastrami (the best I have ever had, anywhere, hands down) and the brisket (phenomenal). Everyone loved the food and we won’t hesitate to order again. We will be back for a pastrami sandwich and Matza ball soup for sure!!
Great experience with a grp of 10+ people, food is absolutely delicious
Slow inattentive service. Menu is a definite play on Montreal style deli but not explained well imo. Food was meh at best.
Delicious matza balls and soup but 40$ For 2 soups and 5 matza balls? Bit expensive but so good might be back anyway… Soup was indeed stacked with stuff not just broth so maybe thats Y
Says open on Google, we walked 10 km to enjoy their pastrami, but when we get there they are closed. This is not right 😡
Brought some friends from Europe. We had a wonderful time! Thank-you. I had a pastrami sandwich, huge latkes and a huuuuuuuuge carrot cake. Cherry soda was nice too. It's like going to heaven. Here is a picture of a huge black and white cookie my friend ordered.
Beautiful, minimalist space with food that is extraordinary. I had the chicken soup (which was the best I've ever eaten), and simply had to bring one home. Also had the pastrami omelette - don't let the simple name fool you -this was an elevated, delicious egg frittata; juicy and bursting with flavour. Can't wait to come back to try so many other tempting dishes...
It is so nice to have spots in Montreal with seriously good food that are also baby friendly (with easy parking and changing table in the bathroom...)!!! I have been to Yans many times for breakfast since I became a mom. I could order the Yans Club every time... 🥪🫶 Their cakes and rugalach are yummy as well as their milkshakes. They also offer great options for lunch and dinner which makes it very repeatable for us!
Yans Deli is great. Whether you go for brunch or dinner, there’s a good mix of options, including healthier stuff if that’s what you’re looking for. The green salad and the wedge salad are really good, and they also have different fish like trout - everything is consistently delicious. Definitely a spot I’d go back to.
Classic MTL deli! A can’t miss.
Brunch on Sunday. Was a wonderful experience. I had the Shakshuka. It was delicious!!! The party sandwiches were next level of amazing. Device was great. Can’t wait to go back!!
Came in from Toronto and checked this place out—really glad I did! The food was amazing, everything tasted fresh and super flavorful. The vibe was great too, really chill and welcoming. Staff were awesome—friendly and made the whole experience even better. Definitely coming back next time I’m around!
We come here every week to brunch and it never disappoints. In the midst of booking another seating on OpenTable as we speak. If you haven’t tried it yet, I urge you to book a slot!! (P.S. order the party sandwiches.. unlike any party sandwich you’ve tried in your life). You’re welcome.
I was expecting a lot better from this place given its high rating and stellar reviews, but my personal experience there was disappointing. A group of 9 of us went for dinner, with reservations, on a Friday night. The place was only at half capacity, so I expected service to be decent. Our waiter took drink orders and delivered them fairly quickly, so things were off to a good start. After we each gave our food orders however, we ended up waiting more than 1 hour for our food. Again, the place was only at about half capacity, and none of the other staff appeared to be particularly stressed or overwhelmed. When we inquired about the long wait, we were told the kitchen was a bit backed up but it shouldn't be too much longer. During this time, our waiter never once refilled our water or came by to ask if we wanted another drink or anything else. We had to get up to ask someone for water, which they did eventually bring. The food was finally brought out. I had a club sandwich and a green salad. The salad dressing was overly salty for my taste and I couldn't even finish it (especially since I was rationing my water!). The sandwich was ok, but nothing exceptional. We waited a long time after our meal had finished before our waiter finally came to ask if we wanted dessert. The only dessert options they offer are huge (i.e., need to be shared among at least 3-4 people). I ended up ordering a giant cookie to share with my family - we got through half of it and took the rest home. It was ok, but I did find the large portion sizes to be limiting as we all needed to agree on one thing to share. When it came time for the bill, the minimum tip option was 18%. I found this insulting, given the level of service. I'm giving this place 2 stars, because our waiter was friendly and accommodating, but otherwise it was a very disappointing experience overall.
Why did Hurricane Grandma (almost 97-BH) say this is the BEST breakfast she has EVER had!!!!!!! We were 4 foodies and chose this rst by very high recommendation. EVERYTHING was -au point-. We ordered the fish platter , a brisket sandwich with carmelized onions, poached eggs , a large fruit bowl, an omelet and a very fluffy and large pancake etc etc. The main theme over brunch were the ooos and awwwws from everyone- because it was all soooo delicious , fresh and beautifully prepared . The eggs were poached perfectly, the smoked fish variety and the presentation on the plate was outstanding, the breads were rich in taste etc, The service - Gilbert, Leah were so gracious and helpful. The owner and creator is definitely a team player - helping his staff in the front to clear tables etc and very welcoming to us. En Bref , we could definitely understand why our friends gave it such rave reviews - we loooooved it too.
Not my first choice.
The best deli in town, I highly recommend it. Amazing service, and food. Best pastrami I’ve ever had.
Went for dinner food was soso something’s better than others. One thing is forsure you need to have better french fries the thin ones you have now are tasteless and is like McDonalds
I was not expecting to fall in love with a Montreal deli today. I was eating delicious food before I even noticed the delightful Lego decorations. The Pastrami was one of the best i've ever eaten in this city, and that fish platter was easily one of the highlights of this resto visit. I don't often go out, but this was well worth it. 10/10
