What guests say about Restaurant Thanjai Québec
Thanjai Québec is highly appreciated for its authentic South Indian cuisine, especially the dosas, idlis, kothu, biryani, and filter coffee, with several reviews highlighting fresh and generous flavors. The service is often described as warm, attentive, and fast, but some customers also report long waits, uneven service, and dishes that are sometimes less successful. The restaurant often comes up as a good option in Quebec City for trying something different, with portions often generous and prices considered reasonable by many, even if the experience can vary depending on how busy it is.

Unexpected surprise in Quebec City. The keep the flavor of Chettinad with warm home hospitality. Both owners were very nice people with great communication. Came from Ottawa and left the place with full of satisfaction.
It was ok. Ordered lamb vindaloo, chicken chettinad, paneer 65, onion bajji, and garlic naan. Naan was disappointing; vindaloo my favorite. Order came in plastic containers that looked like they'd been melted so not great if you're trying to avoid microplastics. Portions were small and meat was sparse for the price IMO. Happy to see competition for Indian food in the city, nevertheless!
Honestly, quite a disappointing experience. The chapatis and naans tasted like they had gone straight from the freezer to the plate. And the curries? Absolutely no flavour, no depth, no aroma. For a restaurant serving Indian food, you’d expect at least some spices to make an appearance! 😂 If I wanted frozen bread and flavourless curry, I could have done that at home for half the price. Calling it authentic Indian food is honestly a stretch. Indian cuisine deserves much better!
clean Indian spot in Qyebec Good customer service✌🏽
Excellent food and service.. serving authentic south indian delicacies like idli vada dosa etc... it's a must visit
Good service and somehow even better food.

Great authentic Indian food, must visit !!
We travelled from Toronto looking Indian foods in Quebec City. We were eagerly looking for som Indian foods and found this restaurant. Food was far better than I expected. Small cozy space but fully occupied. I recommend everyone to try this restaurant for Indian Foods.
It’s a family running South Indian restaurant. We ordered Dosa, idli, medhu vada and uttapam. All the food was really good. Must visit this place if you are around.
We had the chance to stop by Thanjai for breakfast, and it turned out to be such a lovely experience! We thoroughly enjoyed the authentic South Indian dishes, especially the Idly, Dosa, and Vada. Everything was delicious, but the filter coffee truly stole the show! ☕❤️ Definitely a comforting experience away from home. Highly recommended!
Amazing
Chicken kottu wow very tasty.... 🥳
Easiest place to skip for Indians visiting Quebec City. Tiny portion sizes for what you pay, barely any masala in dosas, stale (frozen) idlis in a claustrophobic, rundown place. I have had pooris bigger than their parottas. Chewy and uncooked chapatis. Expensive and underwhelming.
Excellent. Service A+.
Best experience
Food is really amazing with friendly staff. Must go place in Quebec city

Very good garlic naan
The food is very tasty and the atmosphere is very pleasant. You can feel home away from home 👌
I ordered from this restaurant in Quebec City through Uber Eats and spent $134.55. The food was extremely disappointing, especially for the price. My ratings: * Dal palak: 0/5 * Paneer butter masala: 3.5/5 * Vegetable biryani: 3.5/5 * Vegetable Manchurian: 2/5 * Hot and sour soup: 1/5 * Chapati/roti: 0/5 * Naan: 0/5 The chapati was so disappointing that I honestly questioned whether they know what a proper roti should be like. The naan was no better. The paneer and biryani were the only dishes that were good. Everything else was disappointing. Spending $134.55 on such disappointing food felt like a waste of money. I hope they take this feedback seriously and work on improving the food.
Absolutely loved the experience! The food was delicious, fresh, and full of authentic South Indian flavours. The dosas were crispy, the sambhar was flavourful, and every bite was a delight. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. A perfect place for anyone who loves authentic South Indian cuisine. Highly recommended! 😍✨
