The rechta was unfortunately not tasty at all and had a very doughy, undercooked texture (معجنة). The service was slow and not professional, and we noticed that people who arrived after us were being served before us. On top of that, almost everything on the menu was unavailable. Overall, a disappointing experience.

I really enjoy visiting Sefar. The waitress is incredibly kind, the food is delicious, and there’s always traditional Algerian music playing, which makes the experience even more special.

The service was good, and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food. We ordered the couscous and shakshuka, but the quality of the food wasn’t what we expected. The meat was mostly bones and fat, with very little actual meat. The food also felt heavy, and we both experienced an uncomfortable feeling in our stomachs for several hours afterward. We really appreciated the friendly service, but overall, the food quality was disappointing and not what we had hoped for.

I had one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had The service was terrible from start to finish The staff were inattentive, slow, and made us feel like customers didn’t matter. To make things even worse, the washroom was out of order, which is completely unacceptable for a restaurant. A place that can’t provide basic customer service and maintain essential facilities shouldn’t be operating at this standard. I definitely won’t be coming back, and I can’t recommend this restaurant to anyone

What an amazing experience at Sefar Restaurant! Every single dish we ordered was outstanding. The hmiss was absolutely delicious—we loved it so much that my friends and I ordered two plates. The couscous was incredibly flavorful, perfectly cooked, and tasted just like authentic homemade Algerian cuisine. The brochettes were tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. The Algerian bread deserves a special mention because we simply couldn’t stop eating it. It was fresh, warm, and the perfect accompaniment to every dish. My friend ordered the rechta, and it was so good that he finished every last bite of his plate. From the food to the service, everything exceeded our expectations. Every item we tried was full of flavor and prepared with care. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly throughout our visit. A special thank you to Lydia, who took great care of us and made our experience even more enjoyable with her kindness and excellent service. If you’re looking for authentic, delicious Algerian food in Montreal, Sefar Restaurant is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!
