Went to Scores St-Jean with a group of about 16 people for a celebration. Overall, the food and atmosphere were decent and we had a good time. That said, the service left a bit of a bad impression at the end. After we had already paid, the server came back to comment on tipping, mentioning that people give 15% for good service. Most of our group had already tipped that percentage, and in my case I had also covered an extra cost (a full cake for the table), so I chose to tip a bit less. Being approached after payment to be told what percentage is “expected” felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. Tipping should reflect each person’s experience and situation, not pressure after the fact. I understand service staff rely on tips, but this approach didn’t sit right.
