Nozy is a truly unique experience in Montreal and one of the rare places where you can eat genuinely authentic Japanese cuisine. In a city where real Japanese food is surprisingly hard to find, Nozy really stands apart. I was a big fan of the original restaurant, and the new venue fully lives up to its reputation. The cooking feels confident and thoughtful, with a clear respect for Japanese culinary traditions. Nothing feels overdone or designed to impress for the sake of it. The focus is clearly on quality, technique, and balance. The uni is outstanding, fresh and creamy with a clean, delicate flavor. The sashimi is beautifully cut and impeccably fresh, letting the fish speak for itself. The unagi is perfectly cooked, tender and rich, with just the right amount of glaze. The chirashi is another highlight, generous and well balanced, with every element placed with care. What really makes Nozy special is the delicacy of the food. The flavors are subtle and precise, never heavy, and everything feels intentional. It is the kind of meal you slow down for and really appreciate. If you care about Japanese cuisine and authenticity, Nozy is an absolute must in Montreal.
Reviews / Ratings for Restaurant nozy
Terrible waiter, very rude and horrible service.
No decorations, cramped place, food so-so at best, better food elsewhere, I don't recommend
grilled tataki hanger steak was amazing. incredibly tender and rly good w the ponzu sauce. chirashi bowl was just ok for me, the rice was a kinda mushy.
The quality, authenticity and affordability of the food is unmatched for Japanese food in Montreal. The ambiance is warm and inviting, it is definitely a relaxed yet chic vibe for people who want to enjoy the food and each others' company. Portions are very generous. Will come back.
I enjoyed my evening there, but I feel like the service could be enhanced. Prior to going, I asked them if they had uni tonight and they answered yes. When I arrived, the waitresses did not present me the menu (they did not indicate any specials or any unavailable items). I asked the waitress if there was more or the same qty of uni in the salmon tuna don vs kaisen don, and she said they only had enough uni for the kaisen don, which I ordered. The bowl only came with one piece of uni, while all the content available online shows that the kaisen don has much more uni than only one piece. I feel like the restaurant makes better and more generous bowls for online content and content creators to attract clients, then sells a different one for customers in store, knowing that once they are sat, they are not likely to go elsewhere for dinner. The food was good but this happened to me once at their previous location also (where they were out of uni when I was told they did), which makes me believe that this marketing strategy is part of the management of the restaurant. I find it disappointing as it ruins the overall experience, mostly knowing that they have 2 dons that are based with that ingredient.
