I love this place. My family and I come here often. But, regarding the new menu, I am not convinced about the changes. I miss the sundubu jjigae and the beef/seafood udon. Also, the salad with the ginger vinaigrette... I hope the restaurant brings them back soon !

We were excited to return to Makoto after its closure during the holidays, but we were disappointed with the menu changes as well as the presentation. We ordered the Katsu chicken and noticed that the new side dish (potatoes, Green beans, mushrooms) as well as the rice were served cold. We preferred the previous side, which consisted of a salad with a variety of vegetables and the delicious dressing that paired so well with the dumplings and rice. We also noticed that the chicken’s breading was more crumbly. Overall, our experience was less satisfying than usual. We hope that the restaurant will consider bringing back elements of the previous menu, which we greatly enjoyed.

hello. Based on customer feedback, we’ve updated the chicken katsu side once again. Please check the photos on Google menu or our Facebook page. We’ve returned to the previous version and added a fruit salad drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. We apologize for the rice being served cold. It was plated a bit early, and because the kitchen is quite cold, it seems it cooled down quickly. Regarding the chicken’s breading being more crumbly, The difference may be due to a change in texture, as we switched from chicken breast to thigh meat. In Japan and Korea, chicken katsu is rarely made with breast meat. Unlike Western preferences, many people in Korea and Japan tend to prefer thigh or leg meat rather than breast. However, we are now using much higher-quality chicken. Starting this week, we’ll also be bringing back an improved and more flavorful version of our karaage. We hope you’ll visit us again and give it a try.

My wife and I used to be a regular customer here. We were waiting for the restaurant to be reopen. However it was total disappointment when the menu kind of changed. My go-to usual was the Fried Chicken Udon Noodles and Karaag. Both were unavailable on the new menu and Chicken katsu seem to be new style as well which didn't like. Flavor lacks and we really prefer the old menu and flavor combinations. Hope the owner takes this seriously because we would love to come back again.

Hello. The side dish for the chicken katsu is still under development and may be changed in the future. However, we are now using higher-quality fresh chicken and putting much more care into the preparation than before, so we are truly sorry to hear that it didn’t meet your expectations. If you prefer, we can offer dumplings as a side instead of the grilled vegetables, as we did previously. We are also preparing Korean-style fried chicken to replace karaage, which will be added to the menu in about 1–2 weeks. If the response is not positive, karaage may return to the menu. As for the udon, we do not currently plan to bring it back, but it may be reintroduced once we have enough staff in the kitchen. We sincerely apologize for disappointing you after such a long wait.

EDIT: At the owner's suggestion I requested the old version via uber eats and it was fully accommodated, 5 stars and a big thank you! Love your food The Pork Katsu used to be one of my favorite things to order anywhere but the new vegetables on the side really don't work for me. The greenbeans have their stems and the whole garlic cloves aren't super pleasant for me. Otherwise everything is always good and I'll continue to order, I just liked it before the menu changed more

Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re still in the process of updating our menu, and bibimbap will be added back soon. As for the vegetables served on the side that you mentioned, we’re watching customer responses and will make adjustments accordingly. The garlic was a side we added because my wife and I personally like it, although we’ve noticed that many customers tend to leave it. We’re not sure whether you ordered for delivery or dined in, but if you ask for the previous version, we can remove the green beans and garlic and include two dumplings instead. If it’s a delivery order, please leave a note when placing your order. Pink ginger isn’t available at the moment, but we may add it back in the future.
