Lucca was one of our favourites for a special occasion, and loved by myself, someone who has lived in the neighbourhood for 12 years. I’m sorry to write this review, but the most recent time we went, we had a bad experience. The restaurant is tight, and unfortunately a waiter stood in the one foot of space between us and the table beside us three times during our meal, each time having a long conversation with the patrons who must have been his friends. We spent about 1/3rd of the time with this guys ass almost on our table. We didn’t say anything the first two times this happened, but the third we indicated he was in our space. He didn’t move to the other side of the table, where there was lots of room, until we asked our waiter to ask him to move. I understand this is a local spot. I get it. But we felt disrespected by this behaviour. When you go to a nice restaurant, a part of that is for a nice experience. The rest of the staff clearly work hard to provide good service. But still, this negatively affected a nice reunion/mother’s day dinner and we won’t be returning. Management was mostly understanding, but regardless of how nice this waiter usually is (which the manager made a point to mention as I discussed our experience with him), the waiter himself never apologized to us. He didn’t even move, and we shouldn’t have to interrupt our dinner to deal with this situation, to tell someone our space is being invaded. The worst part is that it soured a special occasion, which is exactly what you’re trying to avoid when you choose a reputable place.

Everything was great. Food was great, our waiter was very nice. Definitely recommend for authentic italian dinner
A beautifully relaxed lunch at Luca — the kind of place that feels effortlessly alive. The space is intimate, yet filled with a soft buzz of conversation and warmth. Sunlight, fresh flowers, and the gentle rhythm of service set the tone the moment you walk in. We started with a comforting soup and perfectly crisp calamari, followed by a rich, creamy pasta that felt both indulgent and refined. The grilled chicken was simple but executed just right — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Paired with a glass of red, everything came together seamlessly. It’s not a large space, but that’s exactly its charm — lively, welcoming, and quietly elegant. A spot that doesn’t try too hard, yet gets everything right. Definitely one to return to.
We are a foodie couple from New York City, and we have had the opportunity to dine at many restaurants in our city. My family lives in Canada, so we visit frequently, and over the past two to three years, we discovered Lucca online through its outstanding reviews. Although our visits are often filled with family commitments and we have not yet experienced dinner service, we have enjoyed lunch here three times over the past two years. Each visit has been consistently exceptional. From the moment you walk in, the restaurant offers a beautiful, cozy, and romantic atmosphere. The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. One of the waiters, whose name may be Thomas, left a lasting impression by recognizing us on our second visit, which speaks volumes about the level of care and professionalism of the team. As for the food, it is truly outstanding. The quality is evident in every dish, fresh ingredients, refined flavors, and thoughtful presentation. My husband, who is Italian, is particularly discerning when it comes to Italian cuisine, and he was thoroughly impressed. We both agree that if this restaurant were located in New York City, it would easily be worthy of Michelin recognition. It is important to understand that this is an upscale restaurant. The pricing reflects the quality of the food, the service, and the overall experience. In our view, it is entirely justified. When dining at this level, the focus should be on the experience, the ambiance, and the craftsmanship of the cuisine, rather than simply the portion size. Regarding a recent two-star review mentioning portion size and pricing, from Karine Khachatrian we respectfully feel that such criticism may not fully reflect what this restaurant offers. Value is not only measured in quantity, but in quality, service, and overall dining experience. We have no personal connection to the restaurant or its owners. We simply believe that exceptional establishments deserve fair and thoughtful recognition. Despite having visited over the past few years, we had not taken the time to leave a review until now, and we felt it was important to do so. We are already planning our next visit for lunch in late June with a group of four to six people, and we look forward to returning. We have never left disappointed, and we truly appreciate the dedication and talent of the entire team. Thank you to the owner and staff for consistently providing such a memorable dining experience. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
My partner and I went to Lucca as a Reddit recommendation and it was great! We were visiting Montreal and it was by far the best meal we had. The service was top notch and the pasta was so fresh. Would definitely recommend the gnocchi! We also had a bottle of wine to pair and it was delightful. Will be back when we visit Montreal again. Thanks again for a wonderful meal and service!
Luca, located in Little Italy, is a charming and authentic Italian restaurant. The ambience is warm, though the tables are a bit closely packed. That said, the food truly stands out. We absolutely loved the burrata and pomodoro antipasto, and the arugula salad was just as fresh and delicious. The bread, burrata, and starters were so filling that we were already quite stuffed before the mains! I really enjoyed my Chardonnay as well. I wasn’t completely satisfied with my gnocchi, but my partner really liked his main course. A special mention to the waiter, who was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and helped customize vegetarian options for me, which I really appreciated. Overall, it’s a great place to celebrate something special. Pricy though!
Mouthwatering dishes, quality fine dining with impeccable service. Our table enjoyed a family style feast- burrata Mozzarella, seafood linguine, duck papardelle pasta, lamb, creme brule and tiramisu....and a lovely wine. Every single bite was delicious. Highly recommend.
I am not one to post reviews but felt I needed to this time. This is my favorite restaurant in Montreal. It feels like home. Have been there several times and the experience never disappoints! The food is delicious. The menu is diverse and there is something for every pallet. The service is impeccable and the attention to detail is a standard every time. The staff is courteous and attentive. A must for a night out with friends, family or date night! Do yourself a favor and experience this gem of a restaurant in the heart of little Italy!
Fells wear when you see the menu in the wall. We all order different plates and we all enjoy the food. We get there at 9pm with a full restaurant and the food was in my table in less than 20 min. We need places like this in Miami.
I was excited to come after seeing overwhelmingly positive reviews, but our visit fell a bit short. The menu features pasta specials that change regularly, and we tried two of them. Both were quite salty, the gnocchi with sausage in tomato sauce was underwhelming, and the veal and spinach ragu felt dry. Maybe we came on an off night, but the food didn’t live up to the expectations set by the reviews.
WoW !! The food is amazing, the service by Mike is great and the welcome by Anthony is not to be missed !! Love the food live the vibe .
Absolutely delightful, food is fantastic perfectly balanced and seasoned. I had the gnocchi with sausage, I was a little nervous as sometimes sausage can be overpowering but it had the perfect flavor and amount. Service is attentive, we were treated as though we were his only table even though the restaurant was full. We were there for our anniversary and in our 36 years this stands out as the best experience all around. We are not from the area or this would be a regular spot for us!
Chic atmosphere, refined service, and excellent food. I’m not very used to dining at upscale restaurants here in Montreal yet, but I would confidently recommend this one. It feels like an authentic Italian kitchen, with a well-crafted menu and service that matches the experience. I ordered the pasta with ragù — excellent. The fried calamari was also very good.
Another good place on the most delicious street in town! The food was really good, service was impeccable, and they adapted to my vegetarian diet!
nice place food is good labm chops and tha calamari
Lucca is a gem for Italian cuisine in Montreal’s Little Italy. The pasta of the day was absolutely amazing — perfectly cooked, flavorful, and truly memorable. The grilled squid is to die for: tender, char-grilled, and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly service that makes you want to go back (cannot recall our dining room attendant's name, but he was the best). Whether you’re there for seafood, pasta, or a cozy dinner, Lucca delivers on quality and flavor. Highly recommend for anyone craving Italian dishes and an unforgettable meal
Top notch, the food was very good. Fried calamari and linguine
