Whilst there is nothing wrong with the food, it lacked any wow factor or stand out dishes that you expect from a one star Michelin. Service is fine but atmosphere is weird. It is however good value at the price point and the paired wines were all excellent. Of the 3 restaraunts we had dinner in Quebec this was the least interesting food and yet the only Michelin restaurant.
What guests say about Restaurant Le Clan
Le Clan appears to offer a highly appreciated dining experience, with creative dishes that are well presented and often described as delicious. Service is generally attentive, professional, and warm, and many guests enjoy the calm, chic, and intimate atmosphere. However, a few reviews mention delays between courses, portions that are sometimes small, and value for money that can vary depending on the menu chosen. Brunch and tasting menus are often highlighted as strengths, especially with drink pairings.
Reviews / Ratings for Restaurant Le Clan
My wife and I and one of our adult children enjoyed lunch at Le Clan. We ordered a variety of small plate options so we could sample various offerings. All were presented beautifully and tasted great. We were surprised by the economical pricing for each item and were able to enjoy a variety of dishes for a reasonable price when considering the dining experience and atmosphere being offered.
It was the most memorable dinner from start to finish. The booth at the bar was intimate, yet entertaining. Every dish and mocktail pairing was thoughtfully prepared and tasted exquisite. The documentary about Chef Stephanie Modat exploring local artisans and ingredients in nature was truly educational. I learned so much about his deep respect for the land and how he brings the freshest elements into his cooking. He truly embodies the meaning of “farm to table.” Le Clan is a must for any occasion.
Fabulous experience from front door and on. Service was impeccable, the explanation of dishes, where the local ingredients came from when orderimg as well as when delivered to the table was impressive. We had both tapas and the chef's tasting menu with mocktail. The mocktail choices were extremely innovative and well paired. The tapas were thoroughly enjoyable. Absolutely loved seeing the kitchen through the glass doors, as well as the little ornaments throughout the kitchen and restaurant at large. My companion was especially impressed with the hockey jerseys.
Gorgeous meal, with a very good wine pairing. Excellent service
Best brunch ever. Bargain. Don’t miss it if you get the opportunity to go
Absolutely exquisite dining experience worth every penny! Perfectly cooked food start to finish, and the wine pairing was the perfect match!
Booked for Sunday brunch. Very professional and friendly hostess. Actively checking on all tables. Professional staff as well. It was a prefix brunch consists of 3 steps, starting with cold dishes, then warm and hot, then to the sweets and desserts. Very reasonably priced. Additional Wine and Liquor selections are very exclusive also (pricey but quality stuff). I believe you get the best Michelin experience for dinner too. So, next visit! 😀
FANTASTIC all around! Worthy of a dedicated destination trip!
Restaurant Le Clan recently just got its 1st Michelin star and it shows. Impeccable atmosphere, delicious food, an incredibly talented and knowledgeable staff. The food was out of this world and paired uniquely with a wine that truly did elevate the dish. If you’re in Quebec City and want to experience everything local the province has to offer but prepared meticulously and served beautifully, look no further than Restaurant Le Clan.
I have no idea how Michelin awards stars. But if the formula includes superior service, beautiful presentation, superlative tasting food at all levels and all courses then Le Clan truly deserves the Star earned Every course was beautiful and unusual. I love the appetizers , love the main course and the wine pairings. I love the desserts .. I promise to be back because I truly enjoyed my visit to Quebec and my dinner at Le Clan was the highlight of the trip .
The tapas lunch menu was delicious! High quality food for a very reasonable price. The atmosphere: there is a very interesting art work, and the service was excellent.
The 6 course tasting menu was exceptional! The evening was a great experience with the food and wine pairing surpassing our expectations!
The food is amazing! They have alternative options for some dishes if you cannot eat specific things too. The waiters are friendly and tentative. It's a little dark.
Le Clan was genuinely one of the highlights of our Quebec City trip, the 4-course meal was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The food, the ambiance, and the overall experience were everything we had hoped for. We were ready to leave as happy, loyal customers who would have enthusiastically recommended this restaurant to everyone. Unfortunately, the evening ended on a sour note. As we were wrapping up, our waiter informed us unprompted, that waitstaff here are paid only $12/hour and rely entirely on tips for their income. The comment was clearly an attempt to solicit a larger tip, and when we didn’t respond the way he was hoping, he became visibly annoyed and left in a huff. We understand that tipping culture is important and we always tip generously for great service. But being made to feel pressured and guilted at the end of a special dinner is uncomfortable and frankly inappropriate. It completely took the shine off what had been a magical evening. This is a management issue as much as it is a staff one — guests should never leave feeling manipulated. We hope the team addresses this, because the food and kitchen truly deserve better than a service experience that leaves guests with this kind of lasting impression. Would love to return if this is addressed
We did a Monday lunch featuring the 1958 menu. We shared pork tenderloin, roasted cauliflower, fries, and the maple cream brûlée. All superbly prepared. Service was impeccable. Our food tour guide recommended Le Clan and she was spot on.
I made a mistake booking a table, so we ate at the bar in the back. We loved it! Very pleasant atmosphere.
We booked brunch here, which was a total of twelve dishes brought to us in three different servings. The food was all amazing, a was the ambiance, and the servers were excellent!
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. Phenomenal food, great service, great presentation.
Great brunch place and not too expensive. Must go.
Went in for weekend brunch. The food was very carb-forward, very heavy, and the food was not very fresh. The mornay sauce on the waffle was split, and the homemade sausage was very dry. Overall, very disappointing experience for a one michelin star restaurant. Would much rather have increased brunch prices or a reduced number of dishes for better food quality. Service was great though.
Fantastic atmosphere, amazing service and great attention to details. Phenomenal experience! The 6 service with wine pairings was a wonderful showcase of all that Quebec has to offer. Biggest surprise for me was the Quebec wines from Genevieve Thisdel! Definitely recommend and will go back during my next visit.
We had the most delightful lunch at Le Clan. They seated our group of 5 girlfriends in our own private dining room (without even requesting). It was the perfect atmosphere to enjoy friendly, attentive service where our taste buds were delighted, one plate at a time. The flavors were fresh and well curated. QC has many fabulous dining options; this is one not to miss!
We were in Quebec City for a few days and wanted to try the local cuisines. Initially Le Clan wasn’t on our list, but due to some serendipitous events, we gave them a try for lunch, and the we were really pleased. Our host Max was very friendly and gave us a lot of information about the restaurant, and recommended the tasting menu along with some $5 plates. The food was amazing especially the venison. The restaurant has some interesting and eclectic decor which we found amazing, especially the moose head by the stairs. It’s unfortunate that we were only able to enjoy lunch there, but on our next visit we would like to try their dinner course. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Quebec City.
Lucky to have a meal of a lifetime! Quebec at its finest with locally sourced ingredients! Each dish was a revelation. The halibut on squid ink was my personal fav! If I could make a tiny suggestion could the bread be warm? Our waiter was beyond attentive and affable! Some of the best service ever! Pay attention to the logo! So cool!
