I ordered grilled fish, but I was given boiled fish instead. The zanana drink didn’t taste good at all, and the tiny crema portion for $13 was honestly ridiculous for the size. The service also wasn’t pleasant, and what really made the experience worse was being asked why we didn’t leave a tip at the end. Tipping is optional, and customers shouldn’t be questioned about it. Worst experience ever.
What guests say about Restaurant Kamúy
The reviews are mostly very positive: Haitian cuisine is described as flavorful, refined, and full of textures, with dishes like griot, conch, accras, and certain cocktails often standing out. The service is often rated excellent, attentive, and fast, although a few customers experienced service mishaps and delays. Some also mention that the atmosphere can be pleasant for a date, but that the experience depends somewhat on the timing and the service received.

We reserved 3 weeks in advance for 8pm but they didn’t have our table ready for us until 8:20. A server spilt water all over the arm of one of my friends and barely apologized. My friends ordered the fish along with a few other dishes and they never got the fish so they asked about it, no apology. So they said, “well we’d like to still try it” with a bit of grumbling by the server it seemed. When it finally came, the servers started bringing the lights up and told us they were starting to get ready to close. I ordered the griot and a spicy ginger drink and both were really nice but I don’t know if I’d come back cause of the service and I really had a hard time hearing here.
Beyond Taste; A Journey Through Texture, Sound, and Elegance This was, by far, one of the most remarkable culinary experiences I have had in quite some time. We were delightfully surprised by the harmony of flavors, each dish felt like a dialogue between creativity and precision. The thoughtful pairing of cocktails and wines revealed a deep understanding of balance and nuance. The dessert, in particular, was extraordinary; its texture evoked the sensation of a piece of sky melting delicately on the tongue, an ephemeral pleasure best savored with closed eyes. The staff demonstrated remarkable knowledge and passion, effortlessly guiding us through each course with grace and expertise. The ambiance was nothing short of fantastic a fusion of jazz undertones and Caribbean rhythms that transported us to another sphere entirely. Once again, Chef Paul Toussaint and Chef Victor Blanchet have outdone themselves. We are already looking forward to the next event, eager to see how they will continue to redefine the art of dining.
great food, loved the pork crispy (recommended by the waiter) but tje conch was really unbelievably good! both split were enough to fill me and my friend. also the pain patate was very tasty!
The food here is very good. We tried the Griot, hummus, pintarde (guinea fowl) and spicy jerk chicken and all of them were extremely flavourful and unique. The spicy jerk chicken is actually spicy which I appreciated as well! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area or as a place to go before a show at Place des Arts. While the food was great I do have a couple of critiques: The cocktail menu while pretty extensive was very expensive and there was only one beer available (Corona), and the tables were not very good. Wobbly and the kind you'd find at a cheap breakfast restaurant or something of that nature. None of these things really hindered the dining experience and like I said the food was amazing, but if there's anything to improve it'd be these.
